  1. Yeah that & the marvel banner seems a bit misaligned. It's a tad lower on the right side. There's also some translucency on the white hulk logo & the back cover but it's likely from the old holder. I'd doubt the wear on that corner could be dealt with in pressing. Not a 9.9 candidate. Likely getting a premium for the CVA
  2. It's the CVA. They've gotten higher bids on comiclink. Some cases way way higher. Not sure mile high pedigree would command such a premium. Suscha news maybe but I don't think any other pedigree would
  3. Just wanted to share this panel from ASM 146 as I was reading it again online. Look at the cityscape in the background there... it's crazy glorious!!! I think he may not be the best Spidey artist ever (Romita) but he had the most raw talent! If that makes any sense
  4. Well the original plan as I've read was that Conway intended the death to be more permanent but there was too much of an outcry from readers at the time that he & Thomas decided to bring her back starting in ASM 142 in '75. ASM 121 was really where the silver age ended officially for ASM at least. It was a transitional issue to the racier bronze age really! The creative team decided some real life drama was necessary for the character/series. They felt that times were changing & the series had been too cookie cutter too wholesome for readers by '73. Here's a bit of an explainer about what the thinking was at the time for Conway & Thomas http://comicbasics.com/why-gwen-stacy-had-to-die/ Hope that helps
  5. Yeah they sprinkled the Gwen clone thing from issue to issue. at the beginning starting with ASM 142 in my first panel here. That's where Peter first spots her clone (not knowing she's a clone). Next one is from issue 144 where it's obviously clearly her & he realizes it, (still unaware it's a clone), thinks he's going . Last one is from 149 in Warren's lab where they first reveal she's a clone.
  6. They got it right. It allowed for the whole clone saga to unfold later. That was maybe the most exciting 10 issue run for ASM imo! Besides Aunt May Gwen was the closest to his heart. I don't think pushing a frail old lady off a bridge works & would've turned Conway into an evil devil worshipping monster
  7. It's corner wear. Most 9.4s have either some corner wear on more than one corner or visible spine stress marks. If the corner was hanging off it probably wouldn't be a 9.4 I suppose it has a sticker because of the centering, rest of the corners are clean along with the spine being mostly clean from what I can see
  8. Fair enough. Yeah there's been a spike of late obviously but I'd contend anyone making an investment like this just based on an economic sugar high is maybe not the wisest guy in the world. Speculation can build on itself quite quickly causing people to want to get in on first wolverine before it gets out of reach. I suspect that's been the catalyst for the recent spike. That's not uncommon especially with stocks.
  9. Are you serious ?!?!? Just a reminder that the increase in value for most IH 181 grades began in 2012. There's nothing sudden about it. Check that, it was more ~ 2014 - 2015 but still well before the time you specified
  10. Yeah I'd love to open those up! They're like a time capsule with all the ads & everything...talk about nostalgic intrigue! Fascinating stuff
  11. The splash page here has been bandied about quite a bit. It's amazing! Merry New Year!!!
  12. I'm a sucker for early Andru stuff! What an artist!!!
  13. Damn that 120 looks solid!!! Very clean! What's the plan for it? CGC?
  14. I think Jackman is responsible for providing a meteoric boost to the character so the chances of having an unsuccessful X-Men or wolverine centric movie are diminished IMHO. By the time Disney gets around to doing anything with X-Men (assuming they ever do) there'll be so much pent up demand it'll succeed in my view. A hulk v wolverine from MCU would blow the roof off no matter what, who or where! I just think there are so many wolverine fans out there for the character to be able to sell itself as opposed to requiring an actor's ability to succeed. I have confidence in them casting a solid actor for this important role if they choose to do so. These casting directors/producers are professionals it's what they do for a living!!! Maybe the addition of some modern technology from the MCU that makes wolverine look like wolverine would help just a bit too?! Doing anything with X-23 would be a waste of everyone's time IMHO. If they choose to feature X-23 at the expense of Logan wolverine it'll be cinematic malpractice. Don't think they're dumb enough to go there! Anything with Spider Gwen would probably have zero impact on early Gwen Stacy appearances. Not really into the Spider Gwen character enough to render judgement on impact there As for who's buying IH 181 due to movie hype? No one.....Yet I don't think I implied anybody was. I was bringing up the possibility as an example of upward potential for the book down the road.
  15. 90 day average for 9.6 is ~13,650. Would be higher if not for a copy that was re-auctioned on eBay & went lower in the second auction You're being too modest my good man! Declare victory! Any other prognostications?
  16. You mean 44 & a half years later... I know they're security concerns but you ever think about framing that, hanging it on your wall?
  17. Wow that's some heavy weaponry there Marwood! Nice!!! That's where he figures out goblin got the bomb material in the truck. How big is the page? I've never seen any of these art pages in person. Could it be sent to CGC for encapsulation?
  18. Well they do print some pretty cool information on the label like the title/other stuff that CGC doesn't. To me the major thing is the clarity of the new CGC holder. Plus it's more secure & a bit narrower in width. If cbcs adopted something similar I'd probably wouldn't even consider a crossover.
  19. After much haggling & some trepidation. Professor Pecora
  20. Who does PGX hire to grade books? Stevie Wonder? The blind guy from Becker???
  21. Presumably a missing page or a cutout would be pretty hard to miss for anybody
