  1. Congratulations! This one ends on a cliffhanger when Phoenix changes into the evil crimson suit on the plane. I like the part where wolverine bursting through the door starting the chaos with the hellfires... I got an interesting high grade early X-Men coming up here I think you'll like. This one's a real hum dinger I tell you!!!
  2. If that gets relisted as well then it'll be obvious this guy's a shill. Meanwhile all this has propelled most other sellers to up their BIN prices on eBay... This (bleep) is crazy!
  3. I'd look at it in terms of the average casual Spider-man fan's perception. That's what I mean by never. For the most part most of them have never even heard of the names Kirby or Ditko. They likely know about Stan Lee however and would very much associate him with Spider-Man. Stan certainly deserves his share of credit. He's responsible for Marvel comics being where it is today IMO but due to him flooding the zone with his appearances and charisma it's resulted in him getting too much credit for Spider-man in particular. The lack of awareness for the other guys is the frustrating part! Where are their props?
  4. I'm not sure about this seller. According to GPA there's been 2 other 181s along with his 9.4 that have been relisted right after supposedly being sold. I think around the same time as his 9.4 was relisted. Seems a bit suspect to me
  5. Very sad. It's a disgrace he & Kirby never get the credit they deserve.
  6. Maybe this classic cover thing could make for a really spirited topic on CG?
  7. You're right of course but I'm not sure it would work on a 340? Romita Sr doesn't quite fit into a late copper book imo. He's more silver and bronzy. McFarlane or Wiacek would be preferable there. But there you go it's all subjective
  8. Good point. I once bought an iron man 5 in 9.6 that I thought from the images just had just a bit of transparency on the front cover (which this specific book often has). Turned out it was so bad I could make out the words on the 1st page through the cover when seen in person. But it was still graded 9.6 by CGC so there you go. Thankfully the seller accepted returns and I sent it back so all's well but i could have easily been stuck with that awful book! So yeah I agree with you. They do fill in holes in grading & they're not without purpose
  9. CVAs have auctioned for twice as high as the average GPA in the past.

  11. People seem to go totally ape s**t with this little sticker! Its like a negative emotional trigger for some reason?!
  12. The copper section barely has a pulse. I don't blame him for trying
  13. I guess I have to post some text if I need to edit both pictures. Oh well
  14. Which is why they're desperately trying to avoid an R rating
  15. This 9.4 that supposedly auctioned for 9600 has been relisted. It's the same book with the same certification #. Seems weird! The seller has mostly good feedback. Wonder what's going on??? https://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-INCREDIBLE-HULK-181-CGC-9-4-NM-OW-W-1st-Full-Appearance-Of-Wolverine-NR-/192630684104
  16. What about the potential audience that aren't fans yet? The memory of those movies will fade. Besides, that movie had "please reboot me" written all over it!
  17. Oh gee... I guess I missed the part where he actually resembles wolverine & encounters Hulk. My point was something more along the lines of what happened in the actual comics done the right way by the MCU not Fox. By the time MCU gets around to doing anything like this if ever it'll be way more than 9 years since origins came out. BTW someone in their early 20's may not have even heard about "origins". But hey thanks anyway for the information ...
  18. Yeah I believe Stryker was in X2 and Origins. He's an X-Men antagonist so it's a bit down the road. I'm not sure they'd have to enlarge the story as there's enough material in the weapon x story to last well over a couple of hours if they wanted to go there. It involves a number of characters including Sabretooth, etc... I'd imagine there's plenty of fertile ground there with a possible wolverine origin movie. I don't think too many casual fans especially younger generation have been exposed to how the character came to be.
  19. Maybe there's a bit of a difference between being depicted as wolverine by the minor league 20th century Fox wearing a "wife beater" & the cream of the crop MCU? I don't know perhaps if they decided to do something about James Howlett's history & the weapon X program involving his altercation with Wendigo & Hulk it may have a teeny tiny bit of an impact?... No? ??? Maybe a little?
  20. He was mainly a figurehead at this point doing comic cons and giving college lectures. He stopped being editor in 72 after FF 125 If I'm not mistaken his last active role was in Epic Illustrated #1 in 1980 by Marvel involving silver surfer
  21. Good point about board members being more experienced in comics than the typical eBay buyer. But I think it's a much smaller marketplace & a potential buyer here would probably be bothered by the asking prices knowing the seller is likely only paying the PayPal fee. I think the big X factor here is what Disney has in store for the character down the road. I keep coming back to this point but if the MCU can find the right actor and put him in a realistic looking wolverine costume it'll be a powerful visual! If they can pull that off there's no telling what the impact would be on 181 , X-Men books, etc! What if they decide to do some sort of recreation of IH 181or 340 on the big screen?! The upside potential down the road is greater than the downside in my view. Of course there can be a temporary correction near term but it's good bet long term
  22. I think any ASM is fine with his sig but wolverine? GSXM? It seems like his sig would work heavily against any wolverine book or "new X-MEN". Just weird Reminds me of the episode of Big Bang Theory where they're discussing which books to get signed by Lee & Sheldon suggested a Batman book saying something like "it would be one of a kind" or something
