  1. I've also had a deal here with a very well known board member who flat out didn't pay me and ignored my polite requests for payment. It's more the hassle of checking Paypal every day wondering when payment will arrive than the actual non completion of the deal. Certainly no where near as painfull as not getting what you pay for.
  2. Sorry for my post then. I was trying to be fair about it but I've seen a lot of half hearted, 'if I did this' type of apologies and they drive me *butterknife* around the bend. Here's hoping that this can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
  3. I'm the last guy to pour gas on the fire and I appreciate a man making up for mistakes but the phrase 'I seemed to have stiffed' and 'if you feel you were burned' doesn't sound sincere to me. Although 'making a list and sending out apology letters and requesting replies to figure out how to resolve' sounds wonderful. Also, completing 90% of transactions including some big books doesn't make feel too happy if I was one of the 90% or I am contemplating a deal with you and may become the unhappy minority.
  4. CGC forum/hey buddy, can you spare a grade click new topic and post a scan of the front and back cover. Most popular online site to host scans is photobucket.com You can P.M. me if you have any questions.
  5. Very nice indeed, the colours of that 18 hurts the eyes.
  6. Awesome, congrats KirbyJack. I have never sent a comic to CGC and only own 4, all purchased this year, but I got a pile I would like to send.
  7. I pretty much feel the same way Forrest, for myself...If I can't pay up front, I don't buy it, however I have one boarder who has been buying some of my Marvels, who is just marvelous, and I trust him completely, I really don't mind helping someone else out at all...but I'd drive myself crazy if I owed money, so I don't do that. I should modify my statement, I had one person reneg on time payments, but he never made any, and he lost his babysitter, so it was a non issue for me... I gotta ask, how old was this person? I wonder should we be selling to people who need a babysitter?
  8. If the money was really needed right away, then the seller would never have agreed to time payments in the first place. I feel that the right thing to do would be to return the money. It's not like the book was shipped prior to completing the time payments... Ah...but what if the seller had another offer or turned down offers from other buyers because they agreed to time payments. Also the seller may have agreed to time payments that would provide the funds he needed 'in time' for his needs and now that the deal has fallen through and he is in a sticky pickle. I think in most cases we are reasonable people, but what happens when someone you deal with is not. We see these problems on Ebay all the time. What the hell is a sticky pickle anyways?
  9. Thats a pretty good question Dr. I've done time payments on the board a few times and I've been asked to send a partial payment or deposit to prove I'm interested. I would not expect to get it back if I backed out of the deal. Of course it will vary depending on who you deal with and how well you know and like each other. I think you are hitting the nail on the head when you suggest a seller should spell out the guidelines of a time payment.
  10. True I would rather read the original, not a reprint of any sort, but they are such a great read.
  11. Just reading them is the point. You have good taste.
  12. Very nice Jack, great issue. Which ones do you still need? Thanks! 1-14 (I'll be satisfied with reprints on those, barring miracles or very good luck), 21-23, 25, 26, 29, (36 have coverless), 131, 166, 169 and then a bunch of quarter-box issues from 265 up. FF from about #30s to 80s were my favorite comics back in the day. Jack Some of those issues are pretty cheap in low grade, even the earlier issues. Keep at it and I bet you complete it some day soon. I gotta agree, I loved the early FFs, especially 39,40,44,45,46,48,49,50,52,55,56,57,58 ...ah hell they were geniuses at Marvel.
  13. Very nice Jack, great issue. Which ones do you still need?
  14. Nice #9 grinder. Great issue. Noticed you just picked up a #6 also. On a roll.
  15. Wowsa Wowsa, what a beautiful grouping, looks like some nice grades also. Congrats.
  16. comicage entertainment sells on ebay as comicexpert. If you google them you will find lots to read. The collection you describe could be junk or a great deal but this guy sells lots of comics and odds are you bought comics he has trouble selling individually.
  17. It makes sense that CGC books are more valuable, at least worth the value of the comic plus the cost of grading if the comic is high grade and worth the cost of getting graded. It also makes sense that a CGC comic will sell higher as it basically comes with condition and restoration 'insurance'.
  18. Welcome to the board Cimm. Sounds like you have a large collection, how about posting a few scans and telling us what you like?
  19. Nice comic Bill, good luck on that Detective set. Hell, how hard could it be?
  20. Nice books Drew. I always loved the Avengers 87 cover and story. You must have quite a nice collection of Avengers by now.
  21. Congrats. That book is on a lot of collectors radar, for good reason.
