  1. I love my timeshare. Best hundred dollars I've ever spent.
  2. Having insurance is important, but remember the insurance company isn't your friend and will try not to make payouts. If you applied for insurance and said you were a non-smoker, don't be showing up on the internet with a cigarette in your hands. Your insurance needs will change throughout your life, and you should make adjustments. If you are 55 and your kids are grown, you may not need as much as when they were young. Insurance is to provide for your family if you can't. Insurance is no longer necessary when your assets are enough to do that. It might be a luxury you can afford, but it isn't necessary. On the other hand, it is possible to build wealth by buying incredible amounts of life insurance and borrowing against it. It's not something I understand, and don't endorse it, but I've seen a few people do it successfully.
  3. My very first comic. It was coverless and I couldn't read but I soon had it memorized. It had a missing centerfold that greatly effected the story but I still cherished it.
  4. I believe you can only do it once every seven years so his 2020 bankruptcy helps your case
  5. I've no dog in this fight, but something smells wrong. I hope Mike's real victims are careful and don't fall victim to another scam. I don't want to fight over this. I'm just reminding everyone to do their due diligence and act as if mike is listening, because I'm confident he is.
  6. When was the last time you shipped 150 orders in an afternoon?
  7. I'm not aware of any company using regional printers. It would hurt the economy of scale. Printing 500,000 copies at one site is much cheaper than 125,000 at four different plants, mainly because of the setups involved. Most SA/BA books were printed in Sparta, Ill. In the copper age, some independents used different plants, and a plant in Canada started being used for upscale printing. Someone else can fill in about GA and modern printing, as I know next to nothing about them.
  8. The Great and Powerful CEEGEESEA has spoken. They realized there might be some bucks in getting those 178 copies reslabbed and moved quickly to make it happen. Does anyone want to guess what the fees would bring in if 100 copies are regraded?
  9. If it has good pictures, I'd look at them.
  10. Not nearly as much as packing and shipping 150 orders.
  11. Have you done this before? If not, I'd start with a much smaller listing.
  12. The Great and Powerful SeaGeeCee has spoken.
  13. Why do you say that? Who knows what he's hidden or what assets he has?
  14. Older slaps sometimes have Newton rings, but if you slide a business card into a side slot, they vanish. A book slabbed in 2008 is less likely to have been pressed than one slabbed last year but more likely to have sustained some damage to the book or the case.
  15. If the On Sale Now copies are anywhere near 40% of the 179 copies, I'd be convinced that only the first prints have the date. If they represent 20% or less, I'd say only a third of prints have that ad. If I owned a slabbed copy, I'd say it's a first print until shown otherwise. It's not something that concerns me but I'll be curious if the various printings ever break out. A new chapter in an eighty-year-old history.
  16. How would they know which version they have if it's an interior ad?
  17. No. It's rare because very few copies exactly like that exist. Without the double cover, it would be a low-demand book. It appeals to the tiny niche of the hobby that collects these. I used to, but I preferred them raw. I don't think you'll recoup the expense of getting it slabbed if you plan on reselling.
  18. I'd think it depends on the books and the dealers. If Dealer A has three AF15s in 4.0, he may not be willing to spend a chunk of cash on a fourth copy that won't sell quickly. On the other hand, he might have just sold his last AF 15, be flush with cash, and need the book. You might think Spider-Man 252 is a key book, but a dealer who has a dozen may disagree. What Metropolis thinks is a key book will vary from what Dannys Discount Comics thinks is key.
  19. Reading between the lines, the response from the other CGC rep seems to say they won't refund your fee if the book is rejected for being too risque.
  20. I was hopeful, but it was disappointing. Conor looked much thicker than I expected, and he's been rehearsing this role as the ultimate a-hole for the last few years. It had its moments, but not enough of them.
  21. If we know the third printings have a different ad, just note the difference on the label. It's a book I was never interested in, and couldn't afford if I was. I've never heard this and I can understand why people aren't keen to discuss it.
  22. I'd never heard of the product, and the first review I found online said he burned out two units in a short time. Hope that helps.
  23. This Saturday, March 30th. 1530 North Stone Avenue. In the heart of Tucson. It's a small local show with about thirty vendors. I'm setting up for the first time and will have mostly $1 books, including many graphic novels.
