  1. Wow. That's got everything you'd probably want in a Jones piece.
  2. I thought about this, but PayPal is really cracking down now and will hit you with a $2500 fine. IWT seems like the safer way to go and the buyer can pay any fees. I'm not worried about the cost of shipping or tracking. I am more concerned with filing a claim if there is an actual loss. Has anyone gone through this?
  3. Has anyone tried to file a claim with FedEx on an overseas art loss? Or through a third-party insurer such as Collectibles Insurance? (I will also give them a ring later today.)
  4. Ideally safest and cost-effective. Any ideas for shipping and insurance?
  5. Would it be easier just to have prospective buyers bid on individual pages? Keep a running tally of the sum of the highest bids up until the day of the auction and place the bid with CL for that total price. List out the pages 1-20 and show the latest bids (but not the bidder) in the first post of a thread. Update as needed. There are some trust issues. Everyone participating would have to be a known quantity and not back out after the fact.
  6. Apologies... very U.S.-centric thinking on my part. I am in the continental U.S. (I just noticed the new boards don't show my location. I know not everyone entered one on their profile, but it was sometimes helpful in this regard.) What are the fees typically like for an IWT? And are they buyer-side only?
  7. What is the safest way to accept payment from an overseas buyer? Is PayPal a bad idea due to some kind of chargeback scam? Also, was there ever a consensus reached on safest shipping method overseas? FedEx won't cover art? USPS Intl Priority? (I have a Collector's Insurance policy, if that factors in.) Thanks for any insight. I am sure this has been covered, but policies change frequently.
  8. If I don't play personal favorites, but all-time greats- 1. Kirby 2. Adams 3. McFarlane 4. Ross Those four were undeniable game-changers. Joe Shuster would probably have to be on the list too, if we can squeeze another face on the mountain. My personal Mt. Rushmore that formed the basis of my early love for comic art- 1. Rude 2. Breyfogle 3. Wrightson 4. Maguire All-time great writers- 1. Gardner Fox 2. Stan Lee 3. Denny O'Neil 4. Alan Moore With Frank Miller being a close fifth and Neil Gaiman a statue somewhere nearby that you have to pay another $20 on the tour ticket to see. And Roy Thomas has a trail leading up to the top that's dedicated to him. My personal faves that got me early- 1. DeMatteis and Giffen 2. Jim Starlin 3. Neil Gaiman 4. Frank Miller Baron and Wolfman have really nice plaques in the parking lot though. And Waid has a commemorative hot dog stand. All-time strip artists- 1. Raymond 2. McCay 3. Schultz 4. Trudeau Personal favs- 1. Jim Davis 2. Williamson 3. Schultz 4. Raymond
  9. Vincent stepped in to grease the wheels and help broker a tricky transaction. He really went the extra mile. We took delivery of the page today from the seller and I just wanted to give him a shout out here. Go buy something from or consign your art with Metropolis/ComicConnect. Vincent is good people and one of the nicest, most positive guys in the hobby.
  10. Batman 389 cover at $5500? What is happening?!
  11. I'll be the guy walking forlornly along the road, pages falling out of a portfolio and blowing away. "Where ya headed, man?" "To my second mortgage."
  12. Thanks! I will check it out as we get closer.
  13. Last venue was an easy bus ride from Port Authority. Any such luck with this one? Looks further out.
  14. Does anyone have any old, scruffy mag, large mag, slab, or other similarly-sized poly bags that you want to part with for free/cheap? I use them to bundle comics together for ebay packing. (As exemplified by my terrific ebay feedback!) Hook me up. Then go follow me as a seller.

  16. A friend is looking for any info on buying Mr. Gammell's original art. Anyone with a hand in children's illustrations have any leads? Any contact info for the artist himself or his agent?
