  1. Go into ebay Sold Listings for Copper Age, sort by Highest Price, exclude NM98 and BA12 and the other obvious keys, and scroll through until you get down to the dollar value you want to keep an eye out for. This is an easy way to spot for those that you may not be aware are popular now.
  2. Very excited to add this somewhat-tough-to-find Maguire poster to my promo poster collection... (And if anyone has any Maguire JL original art (first or second run), hit me up!)
  3. Society of Illustrators and Metropolis (appointment) are a must. If you have a car, maybe make an appointment with Anthony Snyder across the river in NJ? Illustration House... not sure if they have an exhibit posted up at the moment, but they might be worth a call to see about an appointment. If you like illustration art, is the Cutler gallery still around? http://www.americanillustrators.com/about/ It's too bad you aren't coming the following weekend. Bonhams and Sothebys have their American Art (illustration) auctions up on the walls for preview. Also, my CAF gallery and you can drop by to save on shipping. :-)
  4. I may have told this story before... I had been drooling over three Bats pages at THR Gallery (Tom Horvitz) for months. I finally saved up enough to email him and pull the trigger only to find out someone had scooped me THAT WEEK! I was devastated as the pages had been there awhile. I was scouring the net looking for a really expensive consolation prize to dull the pain and my wife was frantic. Apparently, she had bought the pages out from under me as a Christmas gift! But now she was so freaked out I was going to spend the money all over again, that she had to fess up right then and give me the pages early. She dug them out of some hiding place and handed them to me, "Here! Just don't buy anything else!" I just about fell out of my chair. The whole thing was emotionally exhausting. I went from excitement to finally being able to afford the pieces, to utter disappointment, to confusion, to elation. I still think they might be a "me" gift because they're Batman pages, and she's, well, her.
  5. A canvas giclee costs, what, $80 to make, plus the frame? Those prints are worth maybe $1000 max? Why does this even need to go to court? How about a strongly-worded demand letter from your attorney? Or how about checking with your credit card company about any buyer's protection on the purchase?
  6. Here is a nice Superman at Heritage- https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/covers/alex-ross-action-comics-900-variant-cover-painting-original-art-dc-2011-/a/7163-93198.s?type=bidnotice-tracked-dailystatus You should post a WTB thread up in the Marketplace forum with the characters you are looking for. You might get a few PMs.
  7. Another easy transaction with Fred for some AMAZING Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira Detective Comics art. It's mind blowing how much ink Eber puts down on the page and the wash work is just stunning. And the piece I got was on the back of a comic art board. It was full bleed with no unsightly blue line crop marks. So it presents really well. Can't recommend them enough. Thanks!
  8. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/h-g-peter-wonder-woman-mcsorley-s-old-ale-house-specialty-illustration-original-art-c-1942-/a/7163-93186.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Very cool bit of NY history too!
  9. Thanks for the link. I had no idea how much stuff they have. Adams GL, illustration art, lots of goodies. Perusing now...
  10. Art sales on social media I keep seeing beautiful modern pieces posted on CAF (splashes, covers, DPS), from name artists posted just after a book's solicitation and fresh off the drawing board. So my question is... Given that I am not on mainstream social media and don't review new book solicitations on the web, how much of the A/A+ art am I missing out on? I've gotten one piece of not-yet-posted art and it was a prime example, but that was through a cold email query to a rep. How many of you are buying these types of modern pieces artist-direct on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.?
  11. I would say about half and half at this point based on recent purchases. I would like to get more nostalgia buys, but I'd grow old waiting for them to pop up.
  12. I still say we burn it and snort it. All the cool kids are itching for some of that new drug on the mean streets... White Venom! (Sounds like something Crockett and Tubbs are chasing down in Miami Vice.)
  13. Gonna need links to get to the bottom of this. LOTS of links. EDIT: Can we get this topic pinned?
  14. The morning of my birthday, my Wife surprised me in bed with this perplexing birthday card... But then I got the gist... Very cool page that I'd wanted for awhile... Really one of the first pages on my want list when I started collecting OA again. Birds of prey was such a terrific series and Guice's more illustrative, more realistic Joker design predated the Nolan movies. I love the body language. I think this was the first time Babs confronted the Joker post-shooting? Or was that in Suicide Squad? Interestingly, the published version has the cast on the other leg--
  15. The Wife and I added another iconic Alias page. Love the inking on this. With the name on the door and the blinds, this page shows off the story's noir roots...
  16. I can't believe I never thought of this, but yep.

  18. Hakes and ebay are helpful. No ComicLink data though. :-( Anyone keep meticulous, insane records of all ComicLink art sales?
  19. Does anyone know what venues are included in the CAF Market Data subscription?
  20. Definitely noticed an uptick in quality material. My list of selects is longer than its ever been!
  21. Who was the vendor in the small room back right corner? Trying to note a few pieces down before I forget.
