  1. Yeah it is all your damn fault!! Things were great before you showed up
  2. I started monthlies at 166 so I was also a late starter. I also proposed to Kirkman in Letter Hacks in 186 to do 200 in color. Did that plant a seed? I don't know - I was looking for one issue not an entire run. But I have only bought 2 comics in a year - The Alien and Negan Lives. I don't know if I'll go for variety insanity but I think it will be cool for only $4 an issue to see them in color and wow - there is going to be a s**t ton of blood splatter!
  3. Exactly! I coin collected for 7 years. Took my time and always paid a bit more for nicer coins - rainbow toning, top of grade (maybe even undergraded). The gold was insane - I made 500% profit and bought a new BMW M3 for $13K invested. But even the non-gold, I made 35% profit and that covers a 15% dealer spread. If you buy what you really love, it is likely that the next buyer will too. So good strategy @StephenWA I'm collecting for fun but it would be nice after 7 years if my collection was up 50% in value :-)
  4. Yeah. I know in 2013 it made mass media attention when a TWD 1 9.9 sold just a bit over $10,000. But $20K for a modern book? I don't see it. Insane hype. One has not been for public sale since I've been collecting TWD from 2017 that I've seen. So it all comes down to 2 people who want one very badly battling it out I guess.
  5. So I figured out how to pull up the old auctions / BIN sales on ComicConnect. Damn I fell sorry for the 2 people buried in these...
  6. How does this book end up Restored? It's a pretty straight forward modern book. Do you think someone got them with the sketch cover ripped off? I don't see any Restored labels here.
  7. What I know is there have consistently been 50-100 Golds for sale on eBay starting at pre-sales of $500, dropping to $250 when the Red foil was announced and settling lately around $150. There are 29 up right now. I can only conclude that this book is far more common than people think. Is a book with 2,000 sold rare? I don't think so.
  8. OK so this is way more common that I think people believe.
  9. I can't see there is any way to know unless Skybound/Image report it. You cannot even estimate from the ~150 stores that had logos printed on the 15th anniversary store variants. I have 7 shops reasonable driving distance from me (1 hour). Only 1 had the 15th ann store variant logo book created. But all 7 received Gold & Silver Negan lives. Not sure if this is true but I heard they went out to all shops that ordered Issue 193. I've got to believe 500+ worldwide.
  10. I'm starting to do transactions with members here so wanted to start a Kudos thread. Appreciate positive feedback if you had a great experience with me buying or selling!!
  11. I just purchased 18 books from Ryan. Great communication and pics to arrive at a fair price. Ender was right, the packaging was bulletproof and all in one medium express box. Seriously, could fall out of a USPS truck and the books would remain in perfect. The conditions were exactly as Ryan shared. And he included a surprise extra in the package Totally confident in buying again from Ryan!!!
  12. Exact same error message I was getting but I just tried it now and it went through. Woo-hoo!!!
  13. Thanks buddy. Must be a serious glitch in the Registry. Hopefully they are working hard to get it fixed. I still cannot add mine as of 30 minutes ago.
  14. Is anyone else having trouble adding a book to their sets? The Census database is pulling up my book so I know there is not a problem with the cert number. But I cannot add it to the proper slot in my Registry or my Custom set. I am not getting any notice that it is in anyone else's set. I get an Error message stating that there is an issue with the website and the error message was sent to an administrator. This has been happening yesterday and this morning. Is anyone else having issues? If it is just me I will contact CGC. It it is affecting everyone I would expect them to be working on it. Thanks!!!
  15. Since your first comment here, my LCS called because they did not have record of me picking up my regular Negan Lives. I asked if they still had the (outrageously priced) Gold and Silver. They did and were excited to tell me the prices dropped nearly in half to $50 silver and $175 gold. I tried to make an offer but they are holding firm. Good luck to them. We have 5 shops in and around Austin and they are very small. They don't have the buyer base for those pricey books. And I think we'll see 9.8 examples of the Gold sub $200 once they hit the market and the initial buyer insanity cools off.
  16. Fair point. I have only been back collecting for a few years and this was the first time I have seen limited items go through my shop. They all knew me as their die hard #1 TWD fan and were great to me with extras and such. But they wanted $300 for the Gold (was selling on eBay for $150-$200) and $100 for the Silver - just outrageous prices and I think trying to get some fan to fall for it. So yes, LCS have been hurting due to the pandemic like a lot of small businesses so I see how going for a quick profit is good for them. And I guess they will be suspicious selling below market that people are going to flip it. @Sensei Ryan passed on the Gold and Silver at his local shop. The guy who bought the Gold flipped it to eBay from his car at a 50% price uplift. So yeah, no easy answer here IMO.
  17. I would put a strong wager that your shop posted them onto eBay. There were 60 Gold Foil posts up before they even went on sale to the public. Shop owners me off.
  18. I picked this up in the Dec, 2018 Comic Connect auction and love it. It's the crown jewel in my TWD collection.
  19. I like the idea but for $5 I get Walking Dead custom labels on all my books. I would make an extra $5 Hero donation no problem but it would still have to include the TWD custom labels.
  20. Yeah chatted with a guy in the UK whose friend got them for cover. It was a small shop and they had no idea what they had - he just bought them right off the shelf. Lucky .
  21. Well I had a shot to buy the Gold and Silver first from my LCS. They wanted an outrageous $300 for Gold and $100 for Silver - both far above eBay prices right now. The know-it-all shop owner said he found 11 sales on eBay and that was the average but I am sure he missed the fact that the first several all went pre-sale for $500ish. Kirkman is giving the Skybound revenue back to the shops. It would be nice if the shops gave back to collectors. I know someone whose shop was 1/2 eBay prices... essentially splitting any flipping profit between the shop and the collector. Now THAT seems reasonable!!! Sorry for the Rant but when I saw those books on the shelf I was ready to take them home
  22. I feel sorry for the complete variety set guys who are probably going to have to drop $1,000 on a 9.8 of one of these. Ouch.
  23. Rat chew . I told my wife someone is dropping $100K on a comic that had bugs eat it so I wasn't far off
  24. Hammer... $100K. Seems like a deal to me compared to an $86K 2.5
