  4. a HUGE Kudos to mattbird for a the nice Superman book he sent me. Matt is A-#1, much appreciated.
  5. great grades Buck, congrats !! btw, sorry I missed your call, I was in a meeting.
  6. heck, I wish I had doubles of these books, your off to a great start with the 14, 17 and 23, I'd love to get a 13 or 18 next. once again great book and I look forward to seeing your next GA Superman purchase
  7. one of the best war covers ever buttock, so, what issues do you have left to get ??
  8. just a fantastic looking book Brian, strong colors, all 4.0s should look as nice, and congrats on another great pickup in your 13-30 run.
  9. ya know just at Chicago con a few weeks ago, there was a dealer who had 3 Superman #53's, and was still trying to tell me that it was a rare issue, yeah rare compared to what ? a Superman #75 black bag death issue ? and he was telling me that 2 of his 3 copies that he had would likely be sold in the next week. .. well, yeah, their still listed on C-link. I want to get a #53 someday, but It's not what I would call rare. can't stand when a dealer or seller says, "rare", "gonna be going up in the guide next year", "these will all be gone by next week". sheesh..
  10. your right, that is a cool book, first Superman/Batman team-up story, and a great cover as well.
  11. yeah, and the guy aint' wearin' any socks, man the depression years were hard times.
  12. your better off not buying that Action #10 that Harley had Brian, it was falling apart.. literally.
  13. nice pickup Brian, as you know that's my favorite Action war cover (at least tied with #44 and #63), now if I can just find one that's not the Mile High copy but still presentable, we'd all live in a better world,.. congrats again Brian,
  14. I've always wanted to post in this thread, there are so many nice 10 centers in here, I'm usually over in the Golden Age section, but I wanted to post this book I just picked up, not high grade, just a straight VG, but the reason I got it was it's the book featured in the "The Iron Giant" movie, I thought it would be cool to actually have a copy, so here it is.
  15. yes please bring this to the forum dinner, I would love to see it, and correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't this your second copy of Action #1 ? you say this was a recent pickup, I thought you had had a copy long before recently. No, this is my first (and likely only, unless I trade up some day). I'd taken a photo of it in a group of "keys" that I posted a couple of months ago, right after I got it, but I hadn't actually unveiled it officially to the boards yet. And Jon's right, this is how the stigma of restoration can work for us instead of against us, by making some books that would otherwise be out of reach financially available. cool, that's what I was thinking of was the "Group Shot" you posted back in June. I know how you like to sometimes buy two copies of certain GA keys, so you can see where I would be confused

  17. I had just printed out the list Durden made for me, now I gotta rip it up and print out this new one.
  18. Just sorting out your collecting goals into an easy to read list thanks, I appreciate that, how could I forget that, this list will help so much when I'm looking for books on the convention floor,
  19. yeah, that can't be taken literally, it's more of a "waiting to exhale" type of statement..since those two Actions (for me at least) seem to be the toughest to find in the 40-50 range. I don't think I'll ever completly move on with life..
  20. sorta, I've got several different collecting goals going on at once... I'd like to get all the ones pictured in the "30s to 70s" book, plus, I'm working on an Action run from #40-50, and also I'd like to get all the Neal Adams Manbat covers, I've only got the Tec 400 so far..
