  1. Your opinions are appreciated tth2. That said, this IS the BB28 SPECULATION on future pricing thread.... I'm sure those won't be the last estimates that are over/under the top. Although in spite of what you've said about the current SA DC buyers, that doesn't mean there won't be future or potential SA DC buyers with the cash and capital to throw around. There could be some .com nouveau riche enthusiast that just has to have the 9.4 or whatever comes to market at whatever price. Those unpredictable buyers by definition cannot be accounted for until they surface. I know someone right now that'd probably drop that coin if the opportunity arose. How many of the people who are spouting these numbers are actually Silver DC collectors and not re-sellers ? Seems hard to tell most times.
  2. Ridiculous - book ain't worth near that much in that grade. Or with an upgrade. Weak 9.2 BB 30 went for 17K also - looks like a couple people got into a bidding war over these books.
  3. I wouldn't put it in the top 10 SA DC covers, and I love these books.
  4. Neil loves Gin and Tonics ! (maybe.) You will get tired of yours someday. I'm patient. I own nothing unless it has Deadman in it ! If you can find it. I swear I'm not getting old ! You guys putting dibs on books that don't exist !

  6. I didnt know what to make of the back cover, so we agreed its a 6.5 for purchase price, but the front looks 9.0.. its really bright... maybe 8.0-8.5 at cgc on a good day, or any idea if I was right cgc would hammer this 6.5? With those missing chips the book will not get a 8.0 from CGC.
  7. Wow is it really at 2300 ? I always wait for the price on this book to finally drop because it seems crazy to me and it never does.
  8. Must be the Twin Cities copy, the other 2 copies I doubt are going anywhere.
  9. Great story, Brian48. I couldn't remember the pedigree it came from, I wish I could see a picture of it. I know that feeling of getting caught up in the bidding. One door closes and another opens, I always say. I saved a hi-res pic of it. Looks more like a 9.4 to me, but I'm a PQ snob. http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/Jarhead/tec395.htm With that BRFC hard to believe that book got a 9.6 - if it wasn't such a weak copy I am sure the bidding would have went higher on it.
  10. Tough issue. Amazing that a lot of PS issues are as common as dirt, but on that issue---for some odd reason---you never see them in HG. The one I did see (a 9.6 3+ years ago) went for quite a pretty penny. After 10 years+, only 3 9.6s, NO 9.4s, and 5 9.2s. Apparently tough. Easily my favorite issue in the series. #10 is the bear of the Phantom Stranger. She's no 9.6, but she is one of my Ladies in White... Pretty sure all 3 9.6s are in the hands of board members. Nice 8.0
  11. That 9.6 looks pretty sharp to me, especially compared to some other 9.6s I've seen come from CGC's doors recently, (no it's not my book).
  12. Well, nobody has a 9.6 let alone a 9.8 Bat 238 yet, so I imagine highest graded has to suffice on a couple of these books right now.
  13. find the guys w/ a 9.4 in their registry set and ask them. i'll start- No. No No. That's 3 out of the 4 9.4s - maybe we have a winner with the last one.
  14. The Batman run is definitely the cream of the Bat-titles crop as far as Adams collectors go. Maybe it has to do with the Ra's Al Ghul effect? Those stories are still classic 40 years later. (thumbs u The only TEC issues that tend to fetch consistent strong prices in grade are the "keys" - #395, #400, #405 and #411, and the two very HTF in high grade: #397 and #402. That being said, I have noticed that prices are sagging a bit on Tec #400 - too many HG copies now I guess? I think Man Bat just isn't that big a draw also. I'm as big a fan as any of these books and I personally don't like the issues with him in there that much.
  15. Is that the cutoff for registry awards? That's when I get married Separate bank accounts buddy. Don't give in.
  16. Thought the Tecs did not so great except the 9.8 405. Bat books in high grade all seemed to do really, really well. Guess just a lot more collectors of that run and interest trickles down to the Detectives then the BBs.
