  1. Oh yeah! The first cover was without question the template for the second. Great copies of two fabulous titles too! Here's a trio of comics where the latter two borrowed the theme from the first: Northland copy
  2. You're right. The composition is indeed very similar. Editor Julius Schwartz rips off his own Mystery in Space title here: And here again:
  3. My Brave & the Bold 29 is a direct steal or tribute to All-Star 43:
  4. I can't even walk past it now without wanting it.
  5. Here's a good one: I mean what ten year old could resist that book on the stands?
  6. Here then are scans of three more of my favourite House of Mystery comics;
  7. What? You mean it's closed now? And here I had visions of filling in my DC Silver Age Want List for a dime each. Drat. There's always a catch.
  8. Cool! But not even a cover blurb for such a major introduction. Very sad. Here are a couple of my Walter Lantz Dells: 52
  9. Curt Swan did a run of Detective covers for a while in the late fifties. Somehow his Batman doesn't look "right" to me because I'm accustomed to Sheldon Moldoff's Batman artwork in which Sheldon closely mimics Bob Kane's style.
  10. I'm always intrigued by sinister sea nymph covers. Here are scans of four more of my Aquaman comics:
  11. A dime? Where is this Cherokee Books? Nice copy too. It presents better than 6.5. (thumbs u
  12. I may have to start pecking away at the Looney Tunes title soon because of the Mary Jane & Sniffles stories.
  13. Here are scans of three of my favourite House of Mystery comics;
  14. Here are scans of my three Flash Giants from the Bronze Age:
  15. I agree. Despite the spectacular covers, both the storylines and the interior artwork on Doctor Solar and a lot of the other adventure Gold Key titles were disappointing, particularly in comparison with DC and Marvel titles. Here's a scan of a comic from another once popular Gold Key title:
  16. Did the books have the dreaded subscription crease? They did. That bothered me somewhat at the time but not to such an extent that I'd buy another copy from the newstand. Here anyway are scans of four more of my Aquaman comics:
  17. Here are scans of four of my favourite Enemy Ace covers:
  18. I've found that the magazine issues prior to the introduction of the Fold-In back cover which began with #86 in 1964 are easier to find in high grade than the ones for the first few years with the Fold-In covers. The Specials complete with intact Stickers and such are also tough to find. I also suspect that the early paperbacks may be even more scarce than the magazines but it may just be the case that books are not as likely to be carried by comic dealers.
  19. Here are scans of five more of my Vampirella magazines:
  20. Spectacular copy! I agree! (thumbs u
  21. Yes. I've always found Myra's assets to be distracting.
  22. Terrific copies. Does the 32 have a slight mis-wrap? Worse than the slight miswrap is the dust shadow around the edges which stands out even more because of the miswrap.
