  1. I have had about 400-500 9.8's, from Bronze, Copper, and Modern submissions. I never got notes, to my knowledge, on even a single 9.8. Maybe not even a single 9.6. I have heard of people getting notes on 9.8's. Very rarely, though. To get a large percentage of notes on 9.8's via multiple submissions is an anomaly. It certainly could suggest some type of inside collusion. Will we ever know? No, not a chance. In my opinion, with no hope of ever knowing, it becomes a moot point. Interesting, maybe troubling, but fruitless.
  2. Yours is possibly not trimmed either. That determination was made at the time of grading, an "opinion". It's an important opinion, but not the end all be all. On a different day, you might not get the same determination. If you could find a few blue label very similar examples, you might be able to send that evidence in to get yours released from purple label prison.
  3. +1 Saved me sooooo much typing. We will have full transparency from CGC right after treasure is found at Oak Island. As in never.
  4. Yes, apparently I did have my facts wrong, but the dates on the announcement were wrong. Plus I was punch drunk from reading dozens of posts by 2 loonies going back and forth about the YouTube videos, at the expense of the other 10,000 of us who really don't care about that one way or the other.
  5. My error, then. It says Updated in the title, posted 1/3, then under that in bold Updated January 3, 2024. Maybe threw me off with the dates.
  6. So the answers to your questions have been public knowledge since Jan. 3rd, by way of a CGC announcement. And you have been asking the questions for 5 pages (or what seems like 20). Is this like Jeopardy, where they give you the answer and you have to come up with the question??
  7. That is foxing, a common affliction of old paper. It is an aging effect, from humidity or insect activity, or both. Irreversible, I believe, and takes a big hit on grading.
  8. It's not an unusual result, Stewart. I have books as low as 8.5 and 8.0 with no notes. It has been indicated that the notes are primarily for internal use, grader to grader, made available to us as a courtesy. Grading is not a full appraisal of your comic, with a list of attributes and detriments. That would be a bit more expensive.
  9. Sorry to be off topic, but could someone tell me if there is a way to set a thread to just 1 daily summary email using mobile (Android)? I know how to do it on a desktop. Thanks
  10. Would look amazing if they had staged it with decent grade cheapo 12 cent comics in bags and boards. The colors would pop against that blue framework.
  11. This was for sale on FB? How much was the asking price?
  12. Yeah, I'm looking at both copies, and Marvel on the left is about the same distance from the spine on each one. On the 9.0 copy, Johnny's head is closer to the edge than on your copy. If one would be suspected of being trimmed, I would pick the 9.0 copy for that reason.
  13. As it says in the original announcement, if you have any questions, you can email ReportFraud@CollectiblesGroup.com. I would think you could do that to see what options might be available to you, if you believe the slab you have is suspect.
  14. Sorry for leaving you hanging....I had to read 200 posts to catch up. I do see what you mean, but I am looking at it from the perspective that if a slab is checked, it's ok and gets a new number, that number now has the CGC Seal of Approval. It has been fully reviewed. We can look it up to see if the grade or label stayed the same. If no change, a false positive. If the grade changes, or goes from blue label to green or purple, it was a scam book. Full transparency. Too much to ask?
  15. I did say, a long way back, that when a book is checked and reholdered, the old number and new number would stay on the list, for a paper trail. At the time, it was not stated that the old number would stay on the list with a strike-through. I thought they were literally going to "take it off the list", as in remove it. So the strike-through works great. But we should see what the progression is on these books, as in did the grade change, or did it go from blue to green. We have no idea what % of these books are being found to be corrupt. This post was directed at the idea of inserting any new suspect cert numbers (new books thought to be scammed) onto the list in any random method. That it would be hard to track numbers added if not highlighted in some way, grouped in some way, and identified as additional suspect certs. And to inform us at such time that new certs have been added, so we have a heads up to check the new numbers.
