  2. Ok here’s some fun stuff from FF13: and read these letters to the editor: these readers feel free to tell Stan Lee how to write his comics!!!
  3. I took a run at this book, too. My congratulations!!!
  4. I mean someone who has worked on the book to artificially improve its grade, done in such a way that it escapes CGC scrutiny and still gets a blue label. The golden age boards are full of “before and after” examples, and I myself have spent >$50k on a single book, only to discover on the boards that it had been “doctored” despite the blue label. For instance, check out the thread https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/457558-marvel-1/page/11/?tab=comments#comment-10872626 This thread details the backroom shenanigans on the 9.4 Marvel 1 in the upcoming Heritage auction. The Marvel 1 is a much bigger book, but this process is not limited to only the high dollar books. when I got this FF3 at such a good price I was suspicious for a minute there. My joy was momentarily tempered by a good old fashioned bout of paranoia!
  5. Well that’s a relief. Over in Golden Age there are a lot of books coming to market that the boardies have outed as pressed, etc. Regardless, I like the book and am keeping it
  6. I know the mighty FF faces a future more unsure than ever, from that mighty foe called “no good movie yet”, but that just makes this book available at bargain prices is it wrong for me to still love it?
  7. Either Clink had an off night or this book has been the victim of a book doctor. It went for $6700, which is way under fmv. Or maybe FF 3s are a sinking ship right now because no major character was introduced. Regardless, I’ve always loved this issue and crossed the Golden Age lines to add it to my collection! Anyone know the story on it?
  8. I don’t know how you guys did this. I’m so impressed . . .
  9. I wasn’t being difficult. I just didn’t want to say it. He ended up accused of distributing drugs to his friends and family, and other bad things. Here’s a link to a 17 page thread here on the boards
  10. I really enjoyed Keith Contarino's stuff, and the other day I tried to track him down. I'm sorry to see he passed away under some tragic circumstances
  11. Wow, I just read that article. If even 10% is true . . . What scum his daughter is!
  12. Stan Lee’s daughter slams Marvel, Disney: ‘They’ve shown him no respect or decency’ https://www.hindustantimes.com/hollywood/stan-lee-s-daughter-slams-marvel-disney-they-ve-shown-him-no-respect-or-decency/story-e2dveqJE6MCHjhmzFVnPhN.html I am shocked to read this. Is she right?
  13. Except Heritage will not accept a bid from someone who hasn’t already bid in regulation
  14. We all know how the extended bidding thing wrings out the last dollar from the way things go at CC. But this introduces a new aspect to the extended bidding in the sense that it is only open to those who have previously bid before the extended bidding periods begin. This changes nothing and seems like needless complications written by lawyers. I don't know anyone who wants a book that wouldn't have thrown down a bid during the normal auction period. Nobody can know if a book is going to end during the normal auction period, so nobody is going to hold their bid until the extended period begins. Why Heritage felt the need to limit extended bidding to those who previously bid during the normal auction, I cannot fathom.
  15. Avengers 1 is the winner at $36k. All Winners came in second at $27k. I’m so disillusioned. I think I’m going to go lie down now . . .
  16. Bat 1 is the opposite of rare, but the demand outstrips supply. I scratch my head at the prices fetched for Incredible Hulk 181, despite almost 10,000 slabbed copies. if it weren’t so darned disrespectful, I’d nominate Bat 1 as the ... (choke, gag) ...GA version of IH 181
  17. I believe you. He has truly reinvented himself. But at the time, I just saw him as the funny guy in my daughters favorite movie beetlejuice
  18. I don’t disagree, but I don’t have a pair big enough to say so on these boards. This comment might fly under the radar, but . . . . . . Best batten down the hatches and brace for severe blowback
  19. I so would do that. I have a grail that was encapsulated 15 years ago, and the grader notes reflect “lite foxing”. CGC has reassured me in writing that, once encapsulated, the foxing stops in its tracks, but I would personally fly the book to Florida and pay for the privilege of watching while they opened it, then closed it back up with the same grade. HEY CGC! ARE YOU LISTENING?
