That's a completely different model.  Valid, but not the same as...

"I currently have $100 and I'd like to put it into stocks, savings, cryptocurrency, or a particular key comic book (collectible) of my choosing, and sell my shares whenever I feel like it."  <---- That's the system that will work, when it has the right backing, structure, and confidence.  Someone will do it.  Maybe not RallyRd, but someone.  It will have Mickey Mantle rookie cards.  It will have first edition classic novels.  It will have everything collectible that's priced out of the common market.  "Common people" have more collectibles money than "money people" for collectibles.

This LeBron James card just sold at @GoldinAuctions for $1.8 million, the record for a modern day card. Winner is @LeoreAvidar, who says purchase is part of strategy to “bring something big to the collectibles and alternative asset business in the coming months.”

So, if you reholder these again to a regular blue label, do you effectively lose the restoration classification? Sounds dodgy.

If they are reholdered they would be in a Purple Label, the error is the New Marvel labels apparently cannot be printed in purple

Boggles my mind why they are just not rejected as an option for restored books. The couple images I posted are a very small sample size of the amount of these out there, so be cautious when you see one of these labels.

  3. How about retrain the quality control guys as well

A RESTORED book should not be able to be slabbed with the new labels

Case and point on eBay right now

I attached a couple that I could , the seller is offering many and no restoration disclosed  and they are in a  disgustingly mis slabbed blue label

Gonna be tough finding a seller who will be fine with an 18 month monthly payment plan especially on mega key books where the price of purchase is locked in at that price.  Chances are a book like AF #15 has a greater probability of moving upwards in value rather than downwards, so would be somewhat of a loss for the seller.  If the time payments were cut down to a max of 6 months which is more doable, then I can see it happening.

This is true, 18 is unlikely but not impossible. 6,8,12 more likely. Just depends on the terms I guess. I have seen some sellers extending 24 months however. Or alternatively he could just get a lower interest loan that extends even further. There is always a way to make it happen, and I hope he finds it .

So I was advised two ways of pursuing the AF 15

    1. Continue to buy blue chip books ie. ASM 2,3,13,14,101,129

    IH 181

    And trade for AF 15

    2. Save up my money for 3 yrs and buy it outright

What do you think the best route is?

Imo first route would be hard because I would have to let go of a bulk of my collection to fund the trade

Second route, God forbid if anything happened in the 3 yrs we would have liquid funds to cover it and if nothing did then in 3 yrs we would have the money to get the book. Also the problem with this route is I won't be able to collect any books in that span

Or you could do a time payment option?

Now granted a 3 year term won't happen but I bet you could find an 18 month,  Depending on when you buy you might get lucky and when you are done with your terms it will have appreciated significantly .

This would be the best option in my mind , then your money us actually going towards the book , removing any temptation to spend it on something else.

If something tragic happened you would be out your deposit but a good dealer would refund the payments made.

Just a thought anyway , best of luck!

Today I was expecting an asm 48 CGC SS from the courier.

I knew when it was going to arrive approx. so the guy pulls up outside in his big white van. Eventually he gets out and delivers a small box which looked way too small to contain a slab. However this week I'd also ordered a PS4 controller cable replacement so I thought it might be that. Then it occurred to me that I had no tracking for that, so where was my book? As he was going back to the van I shouted to him did he have another package? He did, and came back with that also. That was indeed my asm 48.

So then I opened up the first package which I thought was a bit big of a box for a cable but too small for a slab. Amazingly a slab was in it!! :whatthe:

I have no knowledge of it, there was no return address on it, nothing except my name and address. It's a mid grade silver age (I'm not going to say what it is at this stage). It came from the States is all I know, but it's come from someone who knows my details. It's not come from anyone who has sent it by mistake as a purchase made by me, I do know that. I'm sure it's been bought for me as a gift by a friend on the Boards.

Whoever sent it...thank you so much. A lovely thought. :foryou:

You were expecting it ? But surprised by it? Confused

Hello CGC friends, it's been a while. I'll start by saying I took a two year leave of absence into the vintage toy market. I've started to do some online research and wondering your various opinions. What is the reasonable price of admission for a Blue Lable AF 15 5.0. Trying to get a sense through discussion. It's been a while.

    Thanks

Show us the book, that would fetch a better answer at least from me.

Bought this copy from a boardie a few years back.  Was hoping to upgrade, but as stated on this thread, prices have increased dramatically. Still, happy to have in my collection.

Almost looks like to upgrade all you would have to do is resubmit this copy to me :p

    Sweet ped! (thumbsu

Call me crazy, but I couldn't get into the new pedigree label.  I had to send these back to re-holder into Universal Blue to match my other ped's label color  :$

Nice books I have had a  couple of that same pedigree , yeah not sure about the label either. The only reason I was looking to reholder was the Newton Ring issues as recently the rumor is they are making more room in the slab to improve.

What a gorgeous book.  Did you get that from Bob Storms?  I know he had a 9.2 and I think it was the Mass copy but I don't remember for sure.

#2 is a very tough book to find -- I'm still trying to find one myself in 9.0.

I did , I wish I had bought it and the entire ASM collection from Marnin raw. I just remember thinking wow thats a lot of multiples of guide at the time. Now forget about it ...Where's that Delorean when you need it?

What a gorgeous pedigree Annual!  :applause: Doesn't the Circle 8 have a distinctive hand-written mark?  Or only on some issues, not all?

As with other pedigrees some do not have the traditional markings associated with it, I paid extra for the brightness of the colors and probably the fact that I haven't had much luck negotiating with Harley Yee. But now with the current market it was a steal at over guide at the time.

Final bid on the ASM 28 9.2 was $7811.00 - a whopping 47% over the GPA high :whatthe: @Sweet Lou 14 - looking like it will quite hard for us to get the grades we desire.

Another book I bid on and got outbid at the last second was ASM annual 1 CGC 9.0 - which sold for $9301.00 - another price that surprised me.

I guess ASM is still the king even in COVID times.

    00002191690000112001557004.jpg

And I remember when Ann 1 was a dog, my undercopy is a 9.0 pedigree that I paid out the nose in 2000(mainly for the ped), but I knew it would catch traction eventually, but that is ridiculous .

  13. Uphold is the best place to purchase it in my opinion.

If you use the app on your phone, there is no fee. You can deposit the funds into a USD account and then send as BTC or whatever method you want directly from there.

They also do MANY other currencies .

I have been a speculator for over a decade and have done very well , currently it is a very good time to consider investing.

I once bought a book from one of their auctions that was a 9.2 that came with a rusted staple. Didn't know a 9.2 could have a rusted staple, so either it can or it progressed further in the case. Not something that would have been apparent from a scan from any angle, so not their fault really, but not a book I wanted to keep. Ended up selling it at a loss.

This was a 9.0 denoted RUSTY STAPLES, purchased via phone at the time as a blue label .
