A recent Heritage win that arrived today. I put in a low-ball bid at the last minute and, to my surprise, won it at 75% of guide even after shipping and the vig:
-
Action 1 for me too. Rarity, significance, GA, and a Zatara story.
-
Action 2 for me. Tec 225 is a book I'd like to own, but I think it's overrated and overpriced.
-
I can never understand why he became popular?
Must have been the bright yellow costume and long fingernails!
Because he was a bad- in the days before every hero had angst and a .45 or a sword at his hip. This was pre-Watchment, pre-Dark Knight Returns, and pre-Miller's revamp of the Punisher.

After reading this thread, I'm considering adding a Planet or two to my Wondercon want-list...

As I display some Planet Comics, I am going to articulate two opinions (i.e. my opinion, in that others will disagree- ):
1. Zolnerowich is the greatest underappreciated cover artist of the GA.
2. From issue #1 to issue #72, Planet Comics, as a run, is the most visually stunning "book for book" of the GA.
The more I see of Zolnerowich's work, the more I like it. He's like a bookend to Maurice Whitman who did lots of great work at the end of FH's life.
You may be right about the visually stunning thing. And the innards aren't bad either, from the few I've read.

I'll take the 9.4 over the vegetable shill. I don't know about rarity on those.

A recent Heritage win:
I'm now down to 19 more Jumbos to complete the Sky Girl run. It's my 2009 goal.

I didn't notice that at first, I was too busy looking at the sword armNeat cover up of her left leg, though does make me wonder how her thighs go from that position to her left foot in that position....knees bend the other way?
This cover is
But some of us have a reason to love it:
-
Bat #1 blue.
-
Tec 27 because Bats is way cooler
What he said.

This isn't much of a group, but I finally got back from holiday vacation and had a chance to open my last Clink win, and it just looks so darn nice next to it's "sister" I thought I would post the pairs.
Fixed that for you! (thumbs u

Tec 1 over TOS 39. Iron Man
Cap 1 over Tec 1. I'd rather get a restored Tec with some eye appeal, kind of like that one Ronaldo sold earlier this year. And any cover with Hitler getting it on the jaw is worthwhile.
-
Sensation #1. That WW 1 is a fugly 6.5.
-
Batman 1. Grail book in high grade. First Joker and Catwoman trumps lame sidekick.
-
Both sold for $3,585 at Heritage in November of 2007. Which one would you choose, and why?
I'll take the Atomic #1 simply due to the provenance.
My choice was the Timely, despite the provenance. I think the popularity of the Timely book plus the better cover trumps Mr. Church's storage methods on this one.
-
Tec 31 in a heartbeat. Great book all around.
-
Mile High DC. I'm not terribly interested in either, but I'd prefer to own a DC at this point.
-
Okay- here is my comicroom located third star from infinity, take a right....Behind the far wall are about 45 long boxes of comics. The art on the floor on the side walls conceals hundreds of heroic fantasy paperbacks and hardcovers.
Complete Marvel collection and other SA stuff and...
my passion....Golden Age....the earlier the better.....
Words fail me at the moment.
But does Ciorac know you have his trashcan?
-
Tec 3, Tec 3, Tec 3, Tec 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup. Tec 3 for the rarity.
And Slam Bradley.
-
My vote is for Action 2. The 'Tec's spine is troublesome and the cover to Action 2 kicks @ss. No need for Superman on that one. Remember, back in 1938 there wasn't a legion of fan boys ready to wet their otaku undies whenever a superhero showed up on a comic book cover. Comics were capable of sustaining multiple genres back then.

By the way, compressed air falls in the same league as bottled water to me, useless.
It's great for cleaning dirt and dust bunnies out of your computer. I did that recently and it ran much better.
Fiction house anyone?
