Just won a copy of "Girlie Pulps" on eBay for $22 shipped. Was really worried one of you guys would outbid me on it....
-
Nice books, but not a sarong.

rockford copy.....

As a matter of history, how "respectable" were the Saucy and Spicy titles? Was buying them in the 1930's like buying Playboy or Penthouse would be today? They don't look like something you would read on the subway after a hard day at work.

Disney because
1. Don't like the Green Lantern cover
2. Restored versus un restored
3. Donald rocks
What he said.

No love for the GGA.
I'm going to post another "mere mortals edition" shortly. (Need to scan book #2.) This made me realize how much effort Showcase-4 puts into picking books to make the choice difficlt and conversation-provoking. Kudos to him for a fun game.

Wow Mark you got the two books in that auction I wanted the most!!! Way to go buddy!!
You are welcome to visit if you ever come East!
Add $600 shipping to that Spy Cases you bought from me and I'll have Ronaldo hand-deliver it to you.
-
Which would you choose, mere mortals edition!
Both of these are about VG and would sell for about $30 based on OS.
Daring Adventure 12, cover is eye-gougingly ugly but the book has reprinted Matt Baker Phantom Lady goodness inside.
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories 134. Carl Barks and the first appearance of the most dastardly of villains, the Beagle Boys.

MMC 9 because the Submariner kicks .

This should be an easy one.
Not easy for me. Help?

I can state with some certainty that it is NOT Great Comics #3.

You mean Bangzoom listed a book in his pop quiz that I ACTUALLY have and I completely missed it?
And to add insult to injury, I'm using as my current avatar.
Nice avatar!
Glad to see you guys got my back. (thumbs u
This may have to be my new avatar:

And a few Fight Comics:

Ok, guys, time for a GGA chaser:
If anyone has reasonably priced mid-grade copies of Seven Seas 1, 4, or 5, PM me!

Good Job Mr. B. I wasn't even close. I was just starting to go look at Feature Books (thinking Phantom cause of the skulls) and might have passed by it in Gerber but I don't think I would have been able to pick it out. If you got one, then it probably helps. I can't wait to see BZ's copy. What is the highest graded copy? 8.0 is pretty good for a rare book isn't it?
BB-gun
Thanks BB. Something about the snake head looked familiar, but the skulls don't show up in the Gerber. I had to check my copy to see if they were there. Don't know about the census but Metro supposedly has the Mile High copy graded as a vf-nm unslabbed. BZ's copy is VERY pretty!

This image is from the cover of what GA cover?
Here's another clue.
Uh... Bad Date Comics #3?
I'm going to get one of these right one of these days....

I just bought my 2nd copy of Archie #2! Of course this is coverless, but for $25 I couldn't lay off it...

That Veronica image is crying out to be made into an avatar.
I love those old Archies where the artists took the time to draw Betty and Veronica differently, not just giving them a different hair style.

I'm back home after a week and a half in Texas. One of the highlights of the trip was a pilgrimage to Bedrock City Comics where I had the pleasure of riffling through some boxes of golden age and chatting with Richard. If you're ever in Houston, stop at Bedrock. It's a perfect example of what an LCS should be. And while I was there, I did a little shopping:
Following these purchases, I realized I'm 26 Jumbos away from my goal of all the Sky Girl appearances.
-
And the antidote for Phantom Lady overdose is a nice Little Orphan Annie story.
Phantom Lady overdose? Is that possible?
-
I got this last week. I don't know anything about it honestly.
Why is America's Champion of Justice saving the lives of a bunch of communists during the height of the McCarthy era?
What makes you think he's trying to get them OUT of there?
Could be those holes in the tunnel are Black Cobra's doing!
Jack
Sounds like someone needs to some cracking, reading, and reporting!

Identify the artist of these two panels and the name of the strip.
Peeping Tom Comics #5 by Ima Lookin?
-
Name the artist who illustrated this panel and the name of the strip.
And the bonus question: What character, when asked if he knew where radium came from, said, "Radium stations!"
Bonus question hint: It's a character everyone knows by an artist everyone admires.
