Kudos to Tonystarkfan who not only let me pay with a check, but mailed the book (well packaged) before he got my payment AND THEN apologized for sending the book out a day later than he said he would.

thanks fellas, there's something missing though...can't put my finger on what it is though.
Parachuting clowns?

You DO know those are addictive, right? Welcome home (thumbs u
I really like those All-Flash covers
Bought 2 all-flash from Ciorac, and I am hooked. Damn me for not buying the Jitter-Bug cover !!!
Bwa-ha-ha!!
And it looks nicer in hand.
But if I ever decide to sell, you have right of first refusal.

Looks like some great reading and a great start to the GA collection. I really like those Detectives.
And if only Batman hadn't been able to save Robin from that ballon. How many lame Robin stories would we have been spared from?

i only have one adventure comic. it is #43.
Me, too. Except my Adventure Comic is #462.

I never realized just how faded my copy was until you posted the pedigree.
Very doubtful that yours is faded. Charltons were cheaply printed, even by comic industry standards, and it's typical to see this variation from issue to issue. I've seen some extreme color variations within a single printed comic.
I've seen rolls of Charmin with better paper quality than most Charltons.

My apologies to Spike. I must have been out of blood sugar.

Don't mess with Spike, dude. Sugar will kick your .

Sugar and Spike. And Sheldon Mayer was a genius who did some brilliant work with that title all the way up the end. A Sugar and Spike run is one of my long-term goals.

Yellow label?

Thanks for all the scans, BZ. Nice to have you back around.
Here are a couple of strips for Mark and one for Jack.
First up some early lie detector sighting from late 1932 / early 1933 in Tracy and a little chemistry for Jack from 1933 -
*spoon* Tracy!

Not a Church, not a classic cover, not high grade Gerber 8, but it's been eluding me for a while and it filled a big hole in my run and it arrived yesterday:
23 more issues to go for the complete Sky Girl sub-run. 24 more if I want to upgrade the one with the but of corner missing on the cover.
Get crackin' I only need 19 more Senorita Rios
That's probably what I'll work on after the Sky Girls. I figure I need about 50-60 more of those.

Bought this one last week from Vincent Z. @ Metropolis Comics
The White Mountain copy
Love the deep colors on that one. Very nice.

This showed up today courtesy of Mr. Ponseti:
along with this little extra he agreed to throw in:
I've glanced through them. The Batman is full of late 1950's craptastic DC fun. The All-Flash has jitterbug teens and mermaids. What more could a guy want?

No more South Seas Girl postings until I finish my Seven Seas run! There's enough competition for those books out there already!

Wow, this was a cool string to stumble onto. Would never have guessed such geat artwork existed in Romance comics. And to think how many of these I passed over with a snear when I was a youngin.
Thanks for exposing (literally) these to me.
Frazetta, Stevens and Baker - 3 guys who just knew how to capture, well you know...
Frazetta, Stevens, and Baker were more like guys who knew how to capture , not

A lot of the Fox and Fiction House titles look like Baker has done pencils but someone else has finished. The All Top cover may be done by Baker but Jo Jo has a similar look. The appearance of the background characters suggests that the rest of the work on Jo Jo was Kamen. Webb also had a similar style. All Top has some pretty good Phantom Lady stories. Fight, Jumbo and Jungle have art by Baker but I don't know if anyone gives Baker credit for any of the covers.
bb
The All-Top looks more like Kamen to me although neither Gerber nor OS credit him for that one. The Jo-Jo definitely looks like it could have Baker's hand in it, at least the figure of the woman. The man doesn't look Bakerish to me.

Sth..steag...spteh... damn, I'm just spitting all over my screen.
How's about using your Bizarro name: Senegaeht
In Bizarro world Adventure 40 am dollar bin book. In Bizarro world all fan boys want X-Factor 1 in 1.8 condition.

Summer vacation?
Hopped in his time machine and he's bringing back a newsstand fresh copy of Adventure 40 to all board members with screen name starting in "s".

I need a 19
there's tons of these around. I think metro has one, or comicconnect....not sure which one...
Comicconnect has one but I think it's a bit overpriced. Otherwise, it would be in my collection.

i agree, fiction houses are gettng much harder to come by. used to be common as dirt. I think the relatively low prices and long-running series have made many start to collect them
It's because we keep posting cool FH covers here and converting people. Maybe we should ask Arch to delete this thread.
My FH popularity list:
Planet
Jumbo
Fight
Jungle
Rangers
Wings
Certain issues/sub runs are more popular though. Early Rangers do better than late Fights, for example. And certain Fight covers (you guys forgot 35!) are highly desireable and should probably be in the #1 spot.
Jumbo is higher than Jungle because:
1. The stories were better
2. Sheena
3. More Matt Baker art.

Courtesy of thedude and Buck Biggins. This is a beautiful copy of a really really tough cool book:

Thank You Harley!
Now that is a beauty.
You talking about the book or the guy in the picture?

Hey, guys, thanks for posting all those great Baker covers. I'm a big Baker fan but have ignored the romance covers in favor of interior art. I'm thinking now I'll have to start looking for some at the next con I make it to. (Hoepfully not Wondercon '09!)
And is anyone else surprised at how racy some of these covers are? Not for the images themselves, but for the situations they portray?
