  1. Jake Congrats! Welcome to the club. Leroy
  2. I have a similar thing happen to me that I let get away a few years back when a guy had a Tec 33 on eBay and was begging and hinting of an off ebay transaction. I smelled scam and passed. It now resides in Jdogs collection as he had the balls to go for it. It was a great price at the time.
  3. No dot #1 too. I think this is the first no dot #1 I've ever seen at auction. Looks sweet for a 5.5 Batman No 1 not No .1
  4. I shall make an attempt at one of them. I've always wondered if having such an extended run of big dollar books might actually keep prices lower than what they would normally be? After all, collector's pockets are only so deep. In a normal auction, you may have only 2 or 3 of these books available, and as a result, all eyes would probably be focused on each one of the books. In this particular auction, you have 10 books which is probably far too many for most collectors to even think of picking up. As a result, would many books result in less eyeballs on each on of them as collectors would probably focus in on only the ones which they really want, and therefore, result in lower prices. I somewhat agree and thus my goal is to start selling off my Tec comics (and the others in my collection) in about 10 years but do it in a trickle fashion. 1 or 2 comics a year to help with my pension and social security as well as lessen the tax burden. As discussed a lot of you younger collectors in your 30s have a passion for this stuff. Some of you have the means to purchase them now. Every collector no matter how young if you are smart with your finances you should see the ability to make these larger purchases as you get older. I have my eggs in about 4 baskets. The comic basket I feel the best about.
  5. Dave Got your address by PM so it'll be in mail tomorrow. Enjoy! Thanks Leroy
  6. I recently was given this 1951 edition by a friend who knew I collect comics. It is a quick read and very interesting to see the similarities between Hugo Danner and Superman. What I will do is ship it anywhere in the world at my expense but the deal is you must read it within 30 days and post it back in this thread that it is now ready for the next board member. Just ship it anywhere in the world at your expense and keep the chain going. Write your CGC board name, location and month and year inside front cover. Gladiator is an American science fiction novel first published in 1930 and written by Philip Wylie. The story concerns a scientist who invents an "alkaline free-radical" serum to "improve" humankind by granting the proportionate strength of an ant and the leaping ability of the grasshopper. The scientist injects his pregnant wife with the serum and his son Hugo Danner is born with superhuman strength, speed, and bulletproof skin. Hugo spends much of the novel hiding his powers, rarely getting a chance to openly use them. The novel is widely assumed to have been an inspiration for Superman,[1] though no confirmation exists that Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were influenced by it.[2] The concept of a human having the proportional strength of an insect is very similar to the concept of Spider-Man having strength proportional to that of a spider. 7. My all time favorite is TTA 100 Hulk VS Sub-Mariner. My 2nd is TTA 93 and that is why I bought this page. I read this comic 50 times or more as a kid. I love Marie Severin Hulk art!
  8. Just got back from CGC and is from a one owner collection I recently purchased. This is one of my long sought after comic grails in 9.8 and brings back childhood memories every time I see one. Steranko body with Marie Severin head in case you didn't know.
  9. From Action #12. First ever pic of Batman in a comic. Supposedly 2 weeks before Det 27 hit the stands.
  10. I have signatures turned off so Sig line turned off he's missing Leroy's sig line too?! and Richard's (quicksilver) I met and sold some comics to Richard at Chicago this past weekend. He talks funny. Super cool dude and we discussed quickly our love for old Detective comics.
  11. I have signatures turned off so Sig line turned off
  12. Crazy good! Looking forward to next year when they play 2 sets.
  13. I keep checking Stubhub but I can't find any tickets for this concert. I'll try my luck with scalpers outside.
  14. There were a ton of GA Batmans in the last Heritage auction I would have chased had they not been in voldy holders Why? If they were blue and you feel that they are loose on grading just bid accordingly as do people in the card industry with PSA, SGC, Beckett etc. Once I submitted the same comic 3 times to CGC I thought was 9.2 with straight crack and re-sub and it went as follows. 9.0, 8.5 then 9.2. How about the Boy comics that years ago went from I believe a CGC 4.5? to CGC 9.0? We all know CGC would never miss a trimmed book, oh wait seems they have missed it before. I remember a thread on a comic that was submitted to CGC that was claimed to be trimmed by CGC on 2 submissions and when owner sold the comic the new owner cracked it out and got blue. I know of a purple CGC Tec 31 with trimmed CF and CT but CT was removed and the book graded blue 3.0. What happened to trimmed CF? I passed on this comic because CGC said trimmed. Would love it in my sig line now that it untrimmed itself. Yet with all these problems I still have confidence in CGC or I would not have submitted over 600 comics to them this year. Oh and I am starting to use Voldy also. Both companies have flaws but both are needed in our hobby. As for the Tec 27 in question I hate what has been done to comic also but apparently someone like it. My
  15. Pretty 3.5. Would look nice in my sig line.
  16. I can't find where Taffy #2 Hitler parody cover has been posted yet.
  17. Impressive run. I know each time I get a comic in my run it's like Christmas all week. Now that the set is complete would you work on upgrades or move onto another comic series? I'm a buyer on your 29 should you upgrade that!
  18. That is a milestone book in any shape and even though it belongs in this thread I would create a new thread on that comic. Well done sir!
  19. No. It is not a 20K/ point book. The 31 sold for 43K, is that it's new ppp? No to that also. +1 A lot more people in the shallow end of the pool than in the deep end. Also I'm sure we'll see the C-1 Tec 37 in a blue holder soon at auction so that price not a big surprise.
  20. It was at 71K with about 1hr left, not sure it stayed that way until the end. I hope Leroy won the 31 1.0. At this time (and at these prices maybe forever) I'm content with my .5 but thanks for rooting for me. Low grade key comics that present well are IMO going to continue to sell for high prices.
  21. I recently picked this up in a collection. In my 30+ years of buying comics this is the nicest copy of ASM 1 I have ever come across so I'll keep it.
  22. Thats a stunner. Congrats! I would question if listing is legit. Lots of red flags but I've been wrong before. Very nice comic at a steal of a price. I hope it works out for you. You know with Paypal you are protected though if any problems. Anyone else think this could be trouble for buyer? Spidey 1 CGC 7.0
