You mistakenly thought I was saying that about people commissioning Arthur Adams when I was clearly talking about people still commissioning LARRY STROMAN after all the years of complaints about his bad commission behavior and you took a shot at me that was uncalled for.

You're choosing to take offense and make an issue.  You could have questioned if what you were reading in to things is what I meant, but chose not to.  You also chose to talk down to me, which was uncalled for.

He was refunded AFTER 11 YEARS.

I wasn't talking about people commissioning Arthur Adams being on dope, I was saying that and referencing a quote about LARRY STROMAN.

Please read the comments SLOWLY AND COMPLETELY BEFORE attacking what I wrote. Read them a couple of times if need be. I'm okay with you going after something I wrote, but at least get it right and don't make it look like I was bashing Arthur Adams, as I was not. But, having said that, anyone who get on his -- ARTHUR ADAMS' -- list going forward need not complain when he takes 11 years to do their commission. If they do, then I'll ask them if they're on dope.

Thanks for letting me know how to read your messages.  If you could please do the same to mine, slowly and completely and a couple of times before taking offense, we'll be good.

  3. I think people are forgetting/overlooking some basics here.

It's been noted that Arthur doesn't normally take payment up front.  Not sure why that happened here but ultimately he was refunded.

I think there are plenty of people who would, without a doubt, commission Adams to do a piece for them, and they would not be a dope at all.  He's clearly delivered on many quality pieces and, as noted, payment isn't taken ahead of time.  I wish more artist were like that - we'd have a lot less frustration if it was nothing until your slot is up, or some small percentage to hold a place and balance due when it's time to get started.  Anyone commissioning Larry Stroman having read anything about him online, well, dope it is then.

Jason/Essential Sequential would have had nothing to do with the original commission request as he's only been working with him in the last few years to my knowledge. So while a refund was offered when Ryan made his initial post, it's not like he has the money paid in escrow to immediately issue a refund against it.  No idea the ins and outs, but then neither does anyone else here.

For the record, I've never met or commissioned Arthur.  If I was going to a con he was taking a list for, I'd jump at the chance and have no concerns around working with Jason on it, even if he lives in NJ.

    Hello Everyone,

So I have been on the lookout for this painting for years, actually decades, and I did a search on ebay and boom for a second I had that magic feeling when I saw it on sale. But then I enlarged the pic and I said to myself that ain't it. The seller says he can't guarantee it in the description but nevertheless I thought I would post it to the group because how often do you see something like this?

ALEX HORLEY painting - Wolverine - Fantasy art - Frazetta -Earl NOREM | eBay

Already contacted Alex just to make sure it was not some kind of prelim and it it what I thought, a complete fake.

Thought I would share with the group.

    best,

    Matthew

Can you post the published image?  Nothing is screaming at me that it doesn't look real.

Also, anyone selling Picasso paintings on eBay has to be legit, right?  Right?  Right?

Very recently offered for sale on a collector's website, now on FB as part of a deal or no deal at a fixed price

This one is even more flippy (is that a thing?)  I traded it during a CAF Live, and then the guy on the end of it worked his own deal with it, and then don't know, but it ended up in the first listing you shared.  So it's got a sad moving story.  Hopefully it finds it's forever home soon as it's a nice enough page!

Hi All - rookie question here so go easy. I am owed one piece of art from Cadence that I paid for using Paypal. I spoke to the artist and they said I should raise a case with Paypal. I'm not expecting Cadence to going to respond to the case - so do I escalate to Paypal straight away or do you give them a chance to respond??

(Thanks in advance - this is first time I have had an issue with comics / comic art being non-delivered)

If the artist is saying to work through Cadence that makes me think it's not been paid and it might be risky to wait.

If your payment is under 3 months, you could indeed claim with PayPal and it's up to you if you think that's the best action.  If it's outside of that window, I'm not sure what is best to do beyond cross your fingers and hope.  Sorry.

Just curious if anyone knows how I can go about getting on Walt Simonson's commission list. I see a fair number of his commissions when I do searches on CAF (many from the last few years) and I'm a long time fan of his work (one I the many I sure...). I'm very happy to wait a lengthy period of time if necessary and I imagine it would likely be pricey. Grateful for thoughts/advice...

    Thanks!

There are charity pieces, and he opened up a commission list during COVD, but otherwise I think it's at-con doodle drawings.

Yep - bought these on a whim at a show. Had some extra funds and nothing else I wanted to buy when I ran into a setup with Skottie Young and Greg Titus. Skottie was sold out but Greg had these so I scooped them up. I was pretty heavy into collecting statues and busts at this time and didn't buy another piece of art for 2-3 years which I now regret (along with regretting buying so many comics in the 90s instead of art). Once I started collecting art in earnest, the statue/bust hobby slowed to an almost standstill.

@JadeGiant, I'm curious given what your main focus in and how you started, what was the first published page of art you picked up?

Ouch indeed, but the May price is more in line with what I would have expected from the first listing.  1k was way too much for that page unless I'm missing something.

A Tradd Moore Marvel page went up for sale in a few Facebook groups about a week ago and the guy got no offers and it didn’t sell and he took it down. Not even the lowball offers that are always made. He was reselling it and I’d almost guarantee he was very disappointed that he couldn’t get a ROI.

Is this the Ghost Rider page with no main characters (or no costume characters), with no action?  That's not even close to a fair comparison if it is.  Different style, and lack of content.  But more lack of content than the style.
