Hi All - rookie question here so go easy. I am owed one piece of art from Cadence that I paid for using Paypal. I spoke to the artist and they said I should raise a case with Paypal. I'm not expecting Cadence to going to respond to the case - so do I escalate to Paypal straight away or do you give them a chance to respond??
(Thanks in advance - this is first time I have had an issue with comics / comic art being non-delivered)
If the artist is saying to work through Cadence that makes me think it's not been paid and it might be risky to wait.
If your payment is under 3 months, you could indeed claim with PayPal and it's up to you if you think that's the best action. If it's outside of that window, I'm not sure what is best to do beyond cross your fingers and hope. Sorry.

Cadence put up art for sale today. The site update was listed on CAF at 12:15 p.m. today.
Any site not hosted by CAF seems to have a regular job that pulls in new art at that time. So I think that's a CAF process, not Cadence keeping going like business as usual.

They didn't seem sparse to me - Almost 500 tickets sold so that's roughly your number. Not everyone attended both days and some folks juggled family and theme parks. Each table, from what I saw, had a good number of people each time I walked buy checking things out.
Clearly it's not SDCC or NYC numbers, but that's the appeal. Pure art people mostly. There were some more local folks who were just there for signatures for people that wouldn't normally be accessible to them.

If that prelim is 10k (or thereabouts) all-in, then the final art for the litho of the same/similar image looks well priced:

I'm going to be there with Mike & Laura Allred and will have some pieces from my collection for sale, and a couple of select pieces specifically for trade. Like the one below, which is a must for Nightcrawler fans . If you have a Hughes panel page from the same story or any of the Gen 13 stories he did, I'd like to talk!

Just curious if anyone knows how I can go about getting on Walt Simonson's commission list. I see a fair number of his commissions when I do searches on CAF (many from the last few years) and I'm a long time fan of his work (one I the many I sure...). I'm very happy to wait a lengthy period of time if necessary and I imagine it would likely be pricey. Grateful for thoughts/advice...
Thanks!
There are charity pieces, and he opened up a commission list during COVD, but otherwise I think it's at-con doodle drawings.

Yep - bought these on a whim at a show. Had some extra funds and nothing else I wanted to buy when I ran into a setup with Skottie Young and Greg Titus. Skottie was sold out but Greg had these so I scooped them up. I was pretty heavy into collecting statues and busts at this time and didn't buy another piece of art for 2-3 years which I now regret (along with regretting buying so many comics in the 90s instead of art). Once I started collecting art in earnest, the statue/bust hobby slowed to an almost standstill.

@JadeGiant, I'm curious given what your main focus in and how you started, what was the first published page of art you picked up?

My memory is fuzzy but I'm pretty sure this is my first. An eBay buy for sub $100 in 2000 or so. John Bolton Classic X-Men backup page.

Ouch!
Detective Comics #746 Story Page 14 sold on Heritage 12/28/2022 for $1,080 (with BP)
Same page sold on Heritage 5/10/2023 for $372 (with BP)
Maybe it was relisted 5 months later b/c buyer didn't pay...hopefully it wasn't an attempted flip
Ouch indeed, but the May price is more in line with what I would have expected from the first listing. 1k was way too much for that page unless I'm missing something.

A Tradd Moore Marvel page went up for sale in a few Facebook groups about a week ago and the guy got no offers and it didn’t sell and he took it down. Not even the lowball offers that are always made. He was reselling it and I’d almost guarantee he was very disappointed that he couldn’t get a ROI.
Is this the Ghost Rider page with no main characters (or no costume characters), with no action? That's not even close to a fair comparison if it is. Different style, and lack of content. But more lack of content than the style.

I’m curious about this, particularly since I was one of the early bidders who dropped out. But it looks like the center strip of page 1 without other scenery on top and bottom with Tim Hunter. Did Bolton do overlays of 3 pieces which were combined in print? Any idea where the other parts went?
This is not the piece that was recently in Heritage. I originally bought it via John's rep back in early 2000s, sold it to a friend, who eventually sold it back to me. No auction site involved. The Heritage auction was for the next page which has a very similar strip.

This one is a sold piece so the only comments should be to @foreigner1999 to change the sale status to stop tricking people in to thinking they have a chance at getting it! ;-)

Hi All,
Doing a little fund raising and I've put some pieces up for sale here: https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=70187
Included are:
Ed Mcguinness Superman/Batman pages
Lee Weeks published Batman pinup with Superman
Chris Sprouse Superman pages
Nick Bradshaw Hulk pinup
John Cassaday Planetary action pages
Happy to listen to offers, but a straight I'll take it wins out.

This one is even more flippy (is that a thing?) I traded it during a CAF Live, and then the guy on the end of it worked his own deal with it, and then don't know, but it ended up in the first listing you shared. So it's got a sad moving story. Hopefully it finds it's forever home soon as it's a nice enough page!
