  1. 9.4-9.6 looks like a white mark on the front bottom near Spidey's right foot and 2 marks on the bottom of back cover. That might keep it out of 9.6
  2. I'd say 9.2 with the lower corners and top of the back foxing/discoloration
  3. I think, as is, 8.0 is a good number. If that spine roll comes out then I could see an 8.5
  4. W/O that chunk missing and all those spots on the back, I wouldn't go higher than 3.0 I'd guess that chunk would take another point off but I really have no idea how much that is worth
  5. A different colored background would've helped here. CGC won't verify the sig; they only witness sigs. There's certain ways they grade unverfied sigs on the cover which more knowledgeable posters would know better than me. Ignoring the sig, it looks to be in great shape, A little tough to tell with the white background though to give you something, I'd say 9.4 or better (w/o the sig) I'd suggest emailing/calling CGC to see your options about an unverified sig before submitting
  6. several spine tics, corner blunting, URC crease and that vertical line of color breaks near the spine - I'll throw out a 6.5
  7. right side corners looks like there is blunting. ULC is a little worse and you noted the LLC. Back cover top has some foxing or discoloration. I'g guess 7.5 (a ton better than my copy!)
  8. seems like all Magneto would have to do is take control of that metal pipe/bazooka and play 'batter up' with all of them. Not a smart move by Angel
  9. Hi You can preserve comics just as well or even better by simply using mylar and acid-free backing boards. Slabbed or not, the proper environment with respect to temperature humidity and light is very important. That will be much cheaper then getting them slabbed. I agree that they have a nice look in a slab although you obviously can never take them out again. The remarks about being 'Worthy' compare the total cost for submitting to CGC (shipping ,insurance , cgc fees ETC) vs the value of a comic for the grade you receive. That can swing over time up or down so there's no guarantee that the value of a slabbed comic today will hold by the time you wish the sell. You can certainly preserve them the less expensive way and always slab them later if you have an intent to sell. if money is not a major concern there's nothing to keep you from slabbing everything you want to. Good luck.
  10. look at the thread right below this one called "First Time Shipping Questions" I posted a link to a CGC return shipping chart
  11. to the left of the white arrow box on the front cover it looks like some vertical thin impression . if that's just my eyes playing tricks on me or just the cover art then the only thing thing I see is some mark on the back to the left of the '"join SLC" medallion. I'd say it's 9.8 potential if that's not some type of indentation by that arrow
  12. Here's a link to CGC return shipping rates for USPS registered mail based on number of comics and total value https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.cgccomics.com/pdf/cgc-return-shipping-fees.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjrn4Telu7oAhW8lnIEHUvrAwcQFjAAegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3F_iT1tJL_TZwwsBeW27MV
  13. for comparison purposes, here's a pic of his sig on a Demon 1 of mine (had it verified by another company) Several months ago a saw a Demon 1 8.0 (verified by that other company) go for $600 in an auction and a Machine Man 1 9.0 (ditto) got for $500 on Ebay
  14. My story is somewhat analogous to yours. Except it was late 70's to late 80's - all mine were in polybags with mylars only for the ones I bought off the wall of my LCS. Still they seemed to hold up fairly well. In my case I was home 2 weeks a little over a year ago as my wife recovered from a surgery. So a lot of that time was spent in the basement pouring over those old long boxes and cataloging everything. Brought back lots of memories and has been a lot of fun educating myself to this whole new idea of 'CGC' - which I had never heard of. Welcome!
  15. Plenty of threads on this subject though it is a confusing one when new to the whole process. There's a 'Spare A Grade' forum here where posters can give you their opinions of a grade from pics you upload. That can help when pairing those grades against Ebay sold listings or GoCollect/GPA etc to get a feel for an appropriate value I think of the FMV, which you put on the form (to determine tier level), as an insurance amount should something happen to the book while under the care of CGC (& what they will use for insurance when shipping it back to you) If you want your FF 3 to only be insured for $400 then choose Economy. Same for other tiers. Doesn't matter if it's worth $4000 or $400 when slabbed, it 's a question of what it's worth to you if something happens. Obviously the better idea you have for a potential grade, the better idea you have for the tier. Even then you aren't forced to pick Walkthru just because you have confidence it's a X.X which would make it curr worth $4000. You can still pick Standard if that's all you want to pay. There is a chance CGC could move the tier up but that seems to be a rare event. Tons of info on these boards. Don't get frustrated if a question you post doesn't get a quick response. Just use the search function and see if you can get an immediate answer that way too. Good luck & Welcome. PS So now I'm curious. Did you have a FF & Avengers 3?
  16. They may not write everything down in the notes.
  17. as shown, I'd throw out a 6.0-6.5 with the spin dings, corner and that upper back cover
  18. can't edit the title to mark is as graded - here's the final after a clean & press
  19. can't edit the title to mark it as graded, but here it is
  20. some of the last submission I'll prob make from my old collection. Thanks to joeypost!
  21. just to complete my contribution to this thread - out of my whole collection, that was the only one which has a sig so I decided to send it to that 'other company' as that's the only way to get a label. It did come back as verified.
  22. I think the spine brings it down to 4.0.
  23. joey worked his magic on this one. For some reason I can't edit my orig post to change the thread title
