  1. I have been to shindigs with young corporate lawyers and have partied with young female and young male lawyers..they do lots of 'nonrespectable ' things that young people do....I find it hilarious that people think lawyers are somehow immune to the hormones they have in their bodies and will act differently than the general population
  2. maybe it's the bots... ..when they look back at the AI uprising, they will see that it started with the comic book bots
  3. For shill bidding to work online, wouldn't you need at least two people to participate? so, it's a conspiracy?
  4. I had one case damaged returned to me, it had cracked all along the bottom, with large pieces of plastic and a long vertical crack and just missed damaging the inner well..I don't see how it was damaged in shipment..it had a cardboard spacer and was on the end. Looked like someone took a hammer to it at a corner, or it fell on a corner with radial cracking ..no damage to cardboard box as far as I could tell...but CGC took care of it, so no big deal
  5. not particularly...when you are dealing with hundreds or thousands of books a day...the people processing them are not robots..they are humans and humans do irrational things, especially when under pressure yeah, video..I appreciate the sarcasm
  6. I would just crack the case beforehand..that way you get to check it out
  7. wow, that GI Joe.... maybe a 7.5 at best CGC probably does get it right 95 % of the time, but when the errors happen, it's egregious... I tried the 9.8 pre screen route but I think that's just a scam for CGC (for different reasons)..very inconsistent and books in worse shape when returned..but how does one get compensation..it's a perfect system for them to scam you..plausible deniability
  8. So I have had two 25 book 9.8 prescreen submission in which not a single book made it (but all my other 9.8 prescreens I have gotten between 14 and 20 accepted)...okay, i am thinking maybe I got a hard grader..but when I get the books back, a lot more significant spine bends than when I sent them (like the radial bends that happen with comics on turn styles), I even got a few back with significant indents in the middle of the cover(2-3mm depressions)..there would be no way I would have sent these in with the condition I got them back. I dont see how they get these spine bends unless they were treated in a bad way upon opening.. so CGC gets 200 dollars with minimal work..pretty good deal..and I get books back that were worse off than I sent them
  9. if these are recent slabs you got back from your own submission then you use the 'mechanical error' tab on submission page. Just go thru the process like you're submitting and press mechanical error/return ...they will give you a shipping return label

    Fedex

Okay, thanks...I just called customer service and had them change the permanent shipping address to a local fedex office

    Fedex

Fedex has no reliable window of times for delivery ...they always say 855 to 255 for me but never able to deliver before 5 pm...I can put it on vacation hold but can't pick it up from anywhere ..because CGC doesn't allow this...I work nights so this is making it hard on me and even on my days off I can't go anywhere because i never know when Fedex will show up..could be anytime in a 12 hour period ...why cant CGC be more flexible in their handling of this???? allow pick up at a Fedex location??? Things were much better with USPS registered mail..at least I could have my local post office hold the box and I could pick it up...and I also knew when my mail carrier did his deliveries to my house
  12. my thoughts were that the pressing could have rolled the spine a little causing the thor gap and maybe they damaged with the spine creases...but that last clue, the seam along the back cover disappearing..yeah, seems like a different book..and then someone mentioned the bottom staple placement ..I hope they make it right
  13. Less than a month on the EFT...now, just need that last prescreen
  14. yeah, I know about the multi grader system ..just being facetious..TBH, I was really surprised about the 9/2 quick turnaround..it has spoiled me
  15. A little confusing to have all these prescreens graded except the middle one...maybe that grader is on vacation???
  16. OKAY, 30/50...I can live with that..much better than 7/65
  17. An Art History degree is most important in developing excellent expository writing skills and their creative abilities at word smithing is usually beyond reproach of any writing discipline...close to it anyway...the discipline tends to attract very talented writers and they can go onto highly meaningful writing careers or they use their skills to branch off into different disciplines in graduate school and thus different careers...because, I reiterate, they have developed highly skilled writing abilities
  18. Those TATs are to be taken with a grain of salt .. just means that you will get EFT much faster than EST
  19. Hmmmm...guess CGC doesnt like one of my prescreens
  20. On a brighter note, I just did some research on possible financial return of the 7 out of 65 that weren't rejected and returned as 9.8. Selling those 7 may at least help me break even from all the costs incurred with sending the 65 to be prescreened (and the cost of buying and slabbing those 7)...not ideal but not a loss
  21. yeah, 80% seems reasonable even the ability to change a prescreen grade before going to GEI... I would personally like to change my next three submissions to 9.0 that are in the que now and for 8 dollars a book, they should be able to give an unbinding grade (just so we could use as a reference )
  22. yeah, I am lowering my expectations on financial returns..just gonna do prescreen 9.0 from now on. Looking at most of the rejects, I could still make some money on 9.0-9.6
