  1. I looked it up and EEEEEEEEEEEEEESH. I won't forward the info to anyone then, and odds are he's already contacted you if you publicize your sketch collection.
  2. Hey man, I found this thread after your more recent comment. This dates back from 2012-2016, don't know if Joe ever got to all these comissions and if he has changed since. E-mailing me randomly is not a good sign.
  3. CGC does make you click on TWO agreements that the grade is not guaranteed after too many people complained about getting it back a grade less
  4. I think that worked out well, congrats! Personally though, as a raw book I would not have bought that as a 7.0, that grade is higher than I would have expected. Good for you though.
  5. If you can't bear the thought of a 9.8 coming back lower then don't send it, easy as that.
  6. To beat the 9.8 treshold, your comic has to be flawless. So no production defects. All corners have to be sharp, especially the ones near the spine. There can be no slight spine split or roundness at those corners. There can be no bit of white from creasing when the comic was folded and staples. Speaking of the staples, there can be no small tears near where the staples hit. Also the comic cannot be off center. Take out any comic and actually check if you can spot any kind of flaw. If you can't, post scans here and I and others will let you know what is holding it back.
  7. Yuip, way better, none of those defects are pressable/cleanable. What you hope to see is a crease that does not break colour.
  8. Johns and Fabok together ain't cheap either. I dont really see it worthwhile to get the first issue of 3 jokers signed without a guarantee that it would be a 9.8. Maybe there's another key book I'm not thinking of but it's not as obvious as a mcfarlane, bagley, liefeld, JRJR, Claremont, or simonson signature event.
  9. Thanks, but I'd like to know where on these boards I can post the info he gave me so that others could contact him for the sketch opportunity.
  10. No, they don't get a curve, at least not for an issue like that. I'd wouldn't be surprised if it came back as simply a 4. I don't remember, I was probably out getting milk when that happened.
  11. It could be seen as a compliment if it turns out oakman29 is a HUGE Liefeld fan.
  12. Hey all, I just want advice on where I should put this and if I am allowed to. I share my sketch collection quite a bit online and in facebook groups and sometimes freelancers will reach out to me to see if I'd like them to add to it. I tend to say no because all my sketches are in specific thematic sketch books so I only get sketches done at shows (also helps me limit my spending). Anyways, those who write to me are usually amateurs BUT today I got a message from non other than Joe Rubenstein, who is none other than Frank Miller's inker on the Wolverine Mini Series covers. He pencils too and is open for commissions (and it's not expensive). He gave me all his info and since part of it includes him doing sketch covers that he will then send to CGC, I figured some of you here might be interested. I just want to know where's the best place I should post it and if I can since I guess this could be seen as solicitation even though this has nothing to do with me.
  13. If your book has the hint of a spine roll, or a visible crease, then yes it's 100% worth the extra 4 bucks. A quick press means your book goes through the press only once and if any creases remain then so be it. It's meant to simply remove any bends you may see on the corners or straighten out some minor overhang and make the book appear flat. It's usually used on a book that looked impeccable when sent in but that you want to press "quickly" just in case you fear anything happened during shipping. I myself have only ever used the full press since the only modern books I sent in were for signings and there is no quick press option (I'd take it if I could).
  14. I wouldn't mind owning them. I would mind paying for them though.
  15. Mike Grell projects are excellent examples. Judging from a local comic warehouse, I would say the least collectible series is Starslayer. I am being really specific about it being collected as a series since 3 separate issues are very collectible for being keys but totally unrelated to the Mike Grell comic. The guy I bought from says he never ever sold an issue of Starslayer 6 in the 30 years he's been in the business.
  16. For Suicide Squad, Lee only drew half the art in the issues, so it's not in the same league as the rest even if it did last for more than 13 issues (though not sure it did). Question for you about that cover you posted. Is Wolverine in his "death" garb there or a semblance of it, or is that not related at all? If not, what's with that gold in his midsection.
