  1. Actually, stupid me first thought of Kirby's Black Hole:
  2. As someone who had to deal with both my mom’s and my father-in-law’s estates, as much as I love my comics and related objects, I have zero intention of leaving piles of stuff behind for my heirs to deal with. It's tough enough when a loved one passes.
  3. The most fascinating aspect of this thread for me has been finding out Gene stores his comics at his parents' house.
  4. Yes. It was connected to the fire hall. Wow - never been to con that offered such service! I don't know if I could stand to stay longer with the nerds, or my stay would be shorter if I was good and liquored up...., Wow indeed. I'm just seeing this thread now and both those statements were my EXACT thoughts.
  5. Congrats! I’m surprised you don’t have a TTA #27. Still need that one myself and a handful other pre-heroes but haven’t been motivated to finish and have also had to allocate resources elsewhere.
  6. Really need a straight scan of the entire front and back outside of the bag, but it looks like a solid 5.0.
  7. If you click on "Full Item Description" you'll see king size scans. If the seller hosts pictures on a secure site, and posts them in the description you don't even have to click on anything.
  8. Pencil, ink, brush, pen, bristol board, stat camera, x-acto knife, glue.
  9. I'll resist my impulse to use the head slap emoticon. Without even looking, I can see two of those sellers are comic dealers. That's a good sign; he's been buying comics and not $1.98 widgets. If you look at the feedback he has left, you can locate the item that way. If he does not leave feedback, match up the sellers' feedback to the buyer with the feedback rating of "4" within the last month, you can locate the item.
  10. I completely agree with your logic. I'm just repeating what I've been told about GPA and ComicLink. It doesn't take too much sleuthing to narrow down point of sale if its an auction house, ebay etc just by looking at past sales, esp. if you have the cert number to confirm. What entalmighty1 said is correct about not wanting to list complete data. Josh and George had that discussion right here on the boards. I used to have a link but it was lost in The Great Forum Migration.
  11. And what does the rest of his feedback say? Has he been buying from other comic dealers?
  12. Did you communicate with the buyer and tell him it would ship within a week? Its sounds as if you sent an invoice, received payment and then went silent so I’m not surprised he sent a PM 4 days later. When I sell here and get paid, I usually send a thank you PM with the day I expect to ship, or even a thank you along with the tracking number. Was it a massive Foolkiller-style sales threads with hundreds of books sold? How many days does it take to package and ship a comic?
  13. I'm pretty sure they do. The still have a current schedule posted over in the SS Forum, last post was about a week ago.

  15. Respectfully disagree. The run-up has everything to do with hype. Prices were relatively flat for years until the Disney/Fox acquisition. These kinds of huge leaps are always based on speculation and have little to do with love of storyline.
  16. No. Movie/media hype speculation didn’t begin until Batman in the '90s. And it’s only been in the last 10-odd years or so that it has really ramped up. In the old days prices generally moved upwards slowly and steadily over a period of years.
  17. Kirby's drawing table/taboret is in Smithsonian. Don't know about his chair, and I would imagine Dr. Martins are gone.
