  1. I like to use the Mom Test. If I wouldn't feel comfortable showing it to my mom, then it should probably have the questionable parts covered.
  2. I think many of the dealers present didn't get the memo that post-pandemic prices have been dropping.
  3. Speaking of Gold Key mystery comics, it's time for a Mystery Comics Digest Party! Woo-hoo! I bought these on the Boards recently; I used to pick them up in the supermarket if i went shopping with my mom in the early '70s. (Probably First National, for you Northeastern old-timers.)
  4. I missed yesterday but my #102 is nothing to write home about anyway.
  5. That's a fair amount of chipping. Some folks can't stand chipping, so your pool of buyers may be reduced a bit when kit comes time to sell. The price seems somewhat reasonable, although cost been dropping dramatically from pandemic era highs and $33K is still above pre-pandemic levels. If I was going to buy a book like that I'd perform a mountain of due dilligence. How exactly is this opportunity presenting itself? Instagram seller? Those are pretty sh**ty photos for a $33K book.
  6. And as Jack prepares to move on, he draws his final FF cover with the team being laid to rest...
  7. Frank Robbins was a fine artist. The problem with his work was when he attempted to conform it to "Marvel-style" (basically Kirby style) with it's exaggerated kinetic energy. Trying to get through those books is a chore for me, they're pretty much unreadable. His own style, which was reminiscent of folks like Milt Caniff, didn't utilize those weird distortions. I have no problem with Johnny Hazard for example.
  8. Pam Grier! I dunno. I'm seeing some spine stresses and a slight stacking curl. Is that a bit of scuffing in the colophon? It also looks like there's still some dirt, soiling or stains, but maybe that's just an artifact from the photo or my monitor. If I'm not seeing things, *maybe* a 7.5 or 8.0? If I am seeing things, probably a bit higher. What do the previous grader's notes say? Great book in any case!
  9. Mold/mildew ULC? Sell it and get a copy without.
  10. Are we approaching the end? Where do we stop, 101? 102? Are we taking the party over to the Bronze forum?
  11. Here's my reader and my CGC copy, which I bought many years ago from my pal Nik for about the cost of slabbing.
