  1. He is posting away on "the other guys" boards. I would PM him there and put a link to this discussion. If you get no response, your decision in two weeks will be an easy one.
  2. I don't recall hearing a name for this post-picture frame design: maybe it's a split frame? It lasted intermittently for at least 6 months after the picture frames stopped with the January, 1973 cover dated Hulk #159. Thor #207 doesn't have a split frame, but 208-210 and 212 do. Similarly, FFs 130 and 131 are split frames, 132 and 134 aren't, but 133, 135, and 136 are. Having started a 45 year (and counting) involvement with comic reading and collecting initially with picture frame Marvels, I'm definitely partial to the genre, so much so that I've got two sets, one slabbed and the other for reading. That's dedication to a cause.
  3. Did Donut pull the DD 142 from Dlaes stock a few years back? I know he found one while looking through Dales stuff at one show.
  4. First and only 9.8 Marvel Comics Marvel's Greatest Comics 36 9.8 Universal page quality: WHITE
  5. Anyone submit fast track value books on 10/25? If so what is the status of the books?
  6. Better start putting my pennies away.
  7. Who has "the image" to share with the rest of us?
  8. At that point, you should have walked away. Your best bet is to get a 40 hr per week job. With the amount of time you already have in this book, you could have made $50 Right now, you are working harder avoiding a job, than the actual work would be. I'm a little bit tired but what do you mean I could have already made $50? 25 from shipping what's the other 25? At $10 per hr, you could have made $50 instead of posting for 5 hrs here. Oh that's what you meant thanks for explaining. It works, too. When I was 13 I really wanted a motorcycle. I worked for 7 weeks during summer vacation on a farm. $25 per week plus room and board. 13 days on then, 1 day off. (about 70 hrs per week) I saved every penny ($175) The next summer at 14 (spring 1979) I worked 2 jobs for much more pay. When I was 15 I walked into a motorcycle salesroom and bought a brand new street bike off the showroom floor for $1550 cash. I drove it home from the city that day a proud boy. That's dedication and being determined You forgot the hard work part.
  9. His profile picture says it all.
  10. I called Joey to verify this and all I get is a message saying " we're sorry, the number you have reached has been disconected ". I need to go and play " You Got Me Floatin " by Hendrix What number did you call? I brought this to the sellers attention in the hopes that Gabe would take it as an easy way out. gump quote>
  11. It makes me ill to think of all the copies of these books I basically gave away. Nice copy Bill.
  12. The thinner the cover stock, the easier to introduce dents. You have to go out of your way to introduce a finger dent on a golden age book, while all you have to do is glare menacingly at some moderns for it to happen.
  13. How is buying anything reducing debt? Because if I buy something that I can make a profit on I'll quickly reduce debt as opposed to it taking forever. You do realize that if you NEVER purchased a comic book, or a coin to flip, you would be ahead of the game thousands of dollars? If being static is more successful than being dynamic...time to change the way you do things. Yes I do realize that and you may not agree but doing things better is at least being able to get better deals, buy under gpa and have a better understanding of what I buy. But your not doing that. You're right for the DV3 CGC 9.8 I paid over gpa even my friend told me that but I knew that prices would rise, there have also been 2 sales for 100 and 90 dollars. So the market is moving up and again this is before the trailer and announcement. I wish you the best Gabe...but "I'm out".

  16. This covers from you to the presser. But what if the presser packs the books poorly ? What if the presser hand delivers the books to CGC ? The presser is handling the books so much more than the graders = much higher probability of that's way the finger bends occurred. I cannot speak for others, but once I am done with the books they go directly back into the bag and board. Once in the bag and board they go into sturdy plastic file boxes where they stay until I can drive the books down to the graders. At the graders they are received, and then put into different boxes. They are then verified (identifying all the books are there). The pages are counted. The inside of the covers are inspected for defects and stains. The outside covers are examined for defects and stains. The staples are checked for rust. The book is checked for resto. Then they are placed back into the bag and board and await encapsulation. Granted, any impact on the grade would happen before the graders get to them, but we would be fooling ourselves if we think nothing can ever happen to a book once it is in the hands of a grader or the encapsulation person. Transparent much Bob?
  17. I didn't make plans to go this year, good thing as I spent a few days prepping for a category 4 hurricane that never really impacted us. If I had made arrangements, I would have had to cancel making the show.
