my new funny book. i don't see a 'chesler appreciation' thread, so here it is. one of my favorite g.a. covers!
-
hello all...
well, Tec 27 is my "grail" and all the timely's in china can't change that (but change is good)...so, I'll stick with the old, and collect the new!
however, some change is forthcoming... from here on out, I sign off as "gator" (around these here parts of North Fl, that's what I be known as ,because about the only thing i am more passionate about than comics, is my florida gators!)
gator
i claim responsibility for the nickname; introduced it in mississippi.
I thought you like to call me "...tiger" (or should I have kept that between you and me??)
gator
not exactly; what i like to call you is related to a tiger--different kind of cat, tho'. starts with a "p."

Per Billy Parker's request on the Back Cover tread:
Marvel Mystery Comics #21 - 9.2 Cleaned and pressed, no other resto.
dry-cleaned Fred? maybe no resto at all. a beaut in any event.

AS 10
rick
ditto.
-
would it bother anyone if I changed my handle to MarvelMysteryKid ?
rick
i would embrace it. it would help diminish the stink from gatorfandom as well.

The Turtle is way, way down the banana chain from Catman. He's maybe a fifth-banana superhero. Still cool, though. His stories are actually set in China. How many GA superheroes operated out of China?
agreed.
judging by the covers, it looks like maybe red dragon was operating in the orient.

Rick,
You can always buy books from me. I am not an NOD guy so I don't have to tell you about the chocolate!
just the opposite; you are in fact a Don't Own-up to Nothing kind of guy.
[i lost about 4 billable hours figuring that red letter stuff out]
That's right, I'm the Comic Don. And I've got an offer you can't refuse!
did you hear about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?
he stayed up all night wondering if there really is a dog.

Seems to me, a pedigreed Slightly resto Marvel #1 beats out a Mod Resto Tec #27 but Tec #27 is a classic. I mean how many Human Torch movies have there been eh?
what's worse, no subby or torch movie or having to endure "batman and robin" [da iceman has cometh...]. yikes.

I suddenly have a hankering for a Baby Ruth. I think I'll crack one out and continue looking at Timelys. Thank you, Paul!
if in your savaging of the candy bar some stray chocolate crumbs land on your comics, and you later see that they've adhered themselves to the cover, and you use the edge of your fingenail to pop them off, be sure to disclose that you restored the book, because that definitely meets the definition they bandy about this site, something about 'returning it to a previous condition.' don't think i'm being flippant; tho' ostensibly gone, no telling what damage that invisible to the naked eye chocolate residue could cause the book in the future [kinda like 'pressing might look o.k. today, but 20 years from now, god knows what havoc it may wreak on the book'].

Awesome set of books Rick. Here's a Canadian print of a Timley, price was right.
Anytime you want to sell let me know!! Great pick-up!!
i know it's fonky, but i LOVE this cover.

Happy happy happy happy happy. People give Richie Muchin serious *spoon*, but let me tell you, he has the goods. I passed on the cover detached Pep 24 today for these two babies:
Great book, I've never noticed that one before!
very pretty; i got this one today, and since i'm always posting in timely and group, i was thrilled to throw another guy coming in with guns blazing over here.

This is not a Hitler cover, nor even a GA book, but I wanted to post it in at least a related location where I know collectors would appreciate the significance.
I picked this up today from Al Stolz of Basement Comics. A 1969 spanish language comic book about Israel's capture and execution of Adolf Eichhman.
Anyone ever seen it before?
I'd love to see some inside pages of this. Does Elie Wiesel get the full hero treatment?
I don't know Spanish, but my wife is fluent and our au pair is from South Amerrica. I'll have them translate for me and see if I can post any intriguing pages.
mark, please don't get in trouble with the au pair with the double entendre thread.

here's another complete run, but not all slabbed. it's that water-guy.
Billy I might have asked this before but what's the grade on the #32?
Surfer, it's an unrestored 6.5'ish. i got Ricky's undergrade when he moved up to the book he had before he got into the Okajima.
Very, very nice. Want to move to a nice 5.5?
i'm actually on the phone to ricky as i read this and fear i broke his eardrum when i howled with laughter--very cute, indeed.

Mr. B, and Ryan thank you for sharing! Wonderful books! I would love to have either one.
Paul
Paul, are you collecting this guy yet? just went up on group shot, and he swam over here for love as well.
To get that photo were you doing that ceiling hanging trick your brother Peter taught you? Nice run Parker!
nah, the only thing he taught me was that thing with the liquid webbing.
Just remember that your daddy taught you how to use that pool table. What do you owe me now?
So would that make Parker my grandson?!
Because I am clearly your Daddy!
it really says something when one realizes that the most disgusting thing in the picture is the steeler's super bowl faux championship t-shirt.

I'd choose the Marvel Mystery without a moments hesitation. What a fantastic cover!
true BZ, but did you see all those question marks and that amazing little wire contraption on the detective? want to reconsider?
