I've been with CI for many years. Only filed one claim - for a damaged painting - and they did pay out, though, only after some initial pushback. This was in 2013 and a comic art painting I consigned to Heritage was found to have paint cracking damage which either happened in transit or while in storage.
It was my first (and only to date) claim, and I said I would walk if they didn't cover the damage as I told them there was no point in paying them if they weren't going to pony up to cover something like this after years of paying them thousands and thousands of dollars a year for coverage.
In the end, they compensated me a fair amount for the damage (less than a year of my annual premium cost back then) and they've made their money back many, many times over at this point.I’m insured through CI on a dealer policy.
Several years ago, my daughter’s dog was staying with us. I had propped a Robert McGinnis painting against a cabinet. The next day, the painting was gone, as in cleaned off the board. Turns out McGinnis used egg tempera in the paint, the dog smelled this, and licked the paint off down to the pencil underdrawing.
I called CI and told them. It took a couple minutes for them to grasp what happened. They believed me as the story was so crazy, you couldn’t make that up.
They did give me full value for the painting. I sent the painting to CI.
McGinnis was amused.

Since I collect vintage children’s book art and art from vintage illustrated books, I have purchased the books in which the illustrations were printed.
All of the books are from the early years of the 20th Century, and most are published in the UK.
A lot of he books weren’t cheap, but felt it important to have a copy. -
This is the final price reduction on the following Golden Age Art!
Jerry Robinson - Detective Comics #76 pg.4 - 1943
This is a rare page featuring Batman and Robin fighting the Joker.
What makes this rare? It's the first Joker story Jerry Robinson pencilled and inked that featured the Joker! You almost never see Golden Age pages with Batman fighting the Joker.
Jerry went on to pencil and ink 2 other Batman/Joker stories in Batman #28 & 37, but highly doubtful you'll ever find any pages.
You have it all here! Batman and Robin fighting the Joker.
Art is in very good condition, with small amounts of white-out on the art.
$36,000
From the Robinson Collection.
Any questions? Please email me at mitkowitz@hvc.rr.com or call at 845-399-7312

Granted, the price was a bit unexpected, but this is a cover for a Peter Rabbit comic from 1946, by Harrison Cady.
You might be cable to get Cady originals for less, but anything with Peter Rabbit brings a premium price.

What I want to know is whether we will see another large pile of overpriced pieces and a teensy-weensy stack of good buys.
What do you think?

And, not everyone is involved in all potential auctions.I have passed on things which don’t match my collecting goals, like the adult gag cartoons that Anthony’s sells, but someone must be. I would also not buy a Byrne X-men page even while acknowledging its excellence. But you put up a Phantom Stranger page, and I will give it a lot of scrutiny.
“Wide-ringing knowledge of a dealer”….. Isn’t that an oxymoron?
It doesn’t take much knowledge to be a dealer. No dealer can tell what’s going to sell in the future, or even in the present. They think they can, but really all they are doing is pricing the art, throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks.
Too many times, dealers thought they were the smartest person in the room, only to see either few sales, or sales disappear. Best example? Any Marvel TV show. Dealers charge exorbitant prices when a new show or movie is announced, only to see prices/sales fall when either said show or movie is cancelled, or prices too high.
Not knowledge. Greed/taking advantage.

I agree with you, but your history of snarkiness on these boards makes for some pretty great irony here.
You must have me confused with someone else.

Is it really necessary to make snide comments? What purpose does it serve?
You don’t like his work, fine. But to make snarky comments about how he looks is unnecessary.

Do you think that art is owned by the estate of Bill Everett or was discarded over the years.
Most was discarded. The family has no Golden Age art.
I think there might be a cover from the 50s along with several Sub-Mariner pages from the 1950s.

New art added to the site includes....
Jerry Robinson - Detective Comics #79 pg.12
A very nice page featuring Bruce Wayne and MR. Grayson.
Also, this is the first appearance of Judy O'Casson, Claude Renner and Madame Calagra!
Robinson pencilled and inked originals don't come to market often. This is a great example that doesn't feature Batman and Robin but rather their alter-egos.
Only 2 pages exist from the story. This is the only page that will be for sale.
Art is in very good condition, with minimal amounts of white-out on the art. No stats, creases or bends.
Signed by Robinson in pencil in the border.
From the Robinson Collection.
John Buscema/ John Verpoorten - Thor #200 pg.4
Dan Decarlo - Betty and Veronica #234 pg.1
Paul Robinson - "Just Among us Girls" panel Daily

Overall, prices for the majority of items were soft…a good buying opportunity for those into Bagley and J Scott Campbell art…prices were very soft on these items.
the Art Adams Nightcrawler cover and Batgirl were also particularly poor performers.
the McSpidey half-splash at $51K … on the one hand, seemed kinda light for a half splash, but it featured d-level villains. Yet it had a great ‘discombobulated hips’ Spidey middle panel. I was expecting $50K at the very low end, $75K at the upper end.
also noticed a lot more items than usual with reserve prices. Perhaps a hedge against another unscheduled shutdown? Decreased confidence in Clink’s performance? A weakening market?
Thoughts?
Maybe consignors not wanting to lose their pants on their art?
