PS When you are called out for this live, don't be petty the rest of the show with people who do want to buy from you (especially when the show has 60-70 fewer buyers). Take the criticism and move on.
PPS Try lowering the prices of the pages which have been sitting on your web site for years. I (and others) could care less about freshness; price ALWAYS wins.
I'll agree with all of your points, except the "Fresh-to-Market" point.
I've been doing this longer than anyone, and while you might not any interest, many collectors are very interested in Fresh-to-Market.
Take it from an expert.

There sure were a LOT of retreads in this one. Probably means even more in the next. After awhile, does it all become new again if the price keeps going up? 😉
Only if you click you heels 3 times and repeat, “The art will be new again, the art will be new again, the art will……”’

I think there is a bit of excitement around a piece that comes up for auction that hasn't been seen in years and it maybe pushes the results a higher.
I can assure you, “Fresh-to-Market” is a real thing.
My sales have proven time and again, “Fresh-to-Market” means something to a lot of collectors.

That Kirby/Stone FF 30 page went for 12.6 with BP
there are dealers selling Kirby/Stone pages for 2x that
Not sure if the market is speaking or if the market is softening
(and yes I understand that page to page comparisons would have some impact on price)
But of course, you’ll have same dealers exclaiming that those pieces “fell through the cracks”.
But….no.

Agreed, although it should have a bit of a discount built in for being a page that wasn't inked by Austin... Byrne/Villamonte isn't the art dream team.
I remember having Byrne’s share of the Villamonte inked pages decades ago. They were much harder to sell than Austin inked pages.

If John or Terry did it..... I think it adds value. If some random guys chopped it in their workshop As it's all original art from the published comic, I think the bidders have already spoken on just how little it curtails their trigger finger.
100% sure Marvel cut it up and restructured the page.
No collector would do something like that to art.
Does not affect the price.- Twanj and KirbyCollector

I was just being a bit of a smart aleck, because there are naysayers who don’t believe Miller’s post-DKR art is in demand due to his drastic style change.
Those are the same people who can’t afford to buy.

The Miller 300 DPS did very well at $62,500, showing there IS a very strong market for post-Dark Knight Miller art.
Well, duh!
I could have told you that! -

Just because the sale price isn't displayed doesn't mean they don't know that number. Bill used to report the top aggregate dealer sales number in dollars, (I think) number of pieces and (I think) specific high dollar pieces.
My sales are not posted in the weekly sales on CAF. I prefer it that way.
I just don’t see the purpose of displaying one’s sales. It’s not a contest.
Besides, some of the sales data is incorrect in that dealers that might give a discount, or trade art is not reflected or noted in the weekly sales. Which to me is cheating.

So, just the other day, I was offered a trade, that was probably the most lopsided offer ever.
This collector wanted to trade me his “debatable” (by his own admission) first appearance of Killer Croc from Detective Comics #524 pg 3 for the Golden Age Jerry Robinson Batman/Joker page from Detective Comics #76……even trade. Once I pulled myself off the floor from laughing, I told him no.
Besides the fact I don’t trade, I told him nobody in their right mind would trade a “supposed” first appearance of a lower 2nd tier villain for a Golden Age page of the top villain drawn by his creator.
Talk about a lofty trade expected! -
I'm pleased to be able to bring you a true Golden Age rarity!
Jerry Robinson - Detective Comics #76 pg.4
This is a rare page featuring Batman and Robin fighting the Joker.
What makes this rare? It's the first Joker story Jerry Robinson pencilled and inked that featured the Joker!.
You almost never see Golden Age pages with Batman fighting the Joker.
Jerry went on to pencil and ink 2 other Batman/Joker stories in Batman #28 & 37, but highly doubtful you'll ever find any pages.
You have it all here! Batman and Robin fighting the Joker.
Art is in very good condition, with small amounts of white-out on the art.
From the Robinson Collection.

Is that because you liked the art enough to want to keep it, or because it's worth a lot more nowadays than what you're likely to have sold it for?
I honestly like that splash enough that I should have kept it.
But sometimes life gets in the way.
