Were you buying or selling, Mitch?
Not me.
I’m a bit more cultured than that.
I witnessed this. It happened at a Chicago Con. -

And going by recent HA/CLink/Hake's/eBay sales, OA prices still seem solid, particularly for pieces above $3/4k.
Comic book prices though, have undergone severe drops for many keys.
I’m curious.
How much stock do you take in what dealers say about their sales at SD?
Or raise an eyebrow?I mean, who want to be known as the dealer who had a bad show?
Do you think some of these guys bend the truth a bit to make it seem what they sold supports the business?

I didn’t see Glen Brunswick.
Sadly haven’t seen Conrad E for years I believe for health reasons.
Otherwise I saw quite a bit of art. I found a real art treasure in a booth that was 99.8% comics. You never know what you’ll find at the Con.
I understand the problems some of the dealers have encountered with SDCC. Gene was also saying maybe him and his friends wouldn’t come so much anymore. I hope that’s not true.
I think the venue is still a vibrant atmosphere for promoting and pursuing comic art. I was taking pics of the Heritage display and a young man about 21 was staring at the art. I redirected his eyes and pointed at the TOS 39 page. “That’s the very first appearance of Ironman in a comic book right there on that page.”
The guy immediately became transfixed and pulled his iPhone out taking multiple pics. He called out to his friends who were sifting through comics in a booth across the way. They all ran over and he explained to them what he was looking at. They all got excited and started taking pics.it brought me so much joy.
I missed Mitch and I hope he comes back some day but it seems like his mind is made up. I respect that. I’d also like to meet a lot of you guys also.

Thanks.
As I said before, I missed seeing a bunch of you. Others, not so much.
I’m done with shows, specifically SD. I don’t feel the need to put out $10k for expenses when the same people and more can view the art on my site.

At this point, I am not going to remove any posts but, lay off from the name calling. Weather the receiving party is right or wrong, there should be no responses that include name calling. This is the second time I have seen this. (1st was in the selling thread) Next time, the result will be restrictions on your ability to post.
You can’t fool me. I know that pup runs this show.

Did you mean to price that Superman 1/2 Sunday by Burnley at $250,000?
I ask because a FULL Sunday by Boring just sold for $8400 at auction. The Boring in question was from 1949 and not a great example.
My 1/2 Sunday is from 1943 and much better example.

I'd imagine it's too expensive and not worth the hassle anymore since it's become a glorified pop culture con than anything else.
Correct. At least for me

Ladies and Gentlemen and all the Ships at Sea
After more than 40 years of exhibiting at San Diego I decided it’s time to retire from exhibiting at shows.
Lots of reasons, none of which I wish to explain.
I’ll miss seeing a bunch of you. You know who you are.
Some of you, not so much.
However, as with the last several years, I will have a San Diego website update, which will go live Wednesday at 2:00 pm Eastern time.
Not as much of an update as in past years, but will include excellent examples of Golden Age, Silver Age and Newspaper Strip Art.
There will be another email blast tomorrow with specific details and links to the updates.
Thanks for looking.
Always looking for consignments.
Best,
Mitch Itkowitz

Okay. I don't doubt you but he made some mention in the podcast to it being available at 400 or 500k some years ago and thinking that was too much money.
If I misheard it I'm sure someone will correct me.
I was the only one who had access to the cover. I never offered the cover to anyone but the person who bought it.
