  1. Maybe I'm seeing things that aren't there, but I see some stuff especially around Nightcrawler's head. 7.5/8.0
  2. 6.0 on this one too. It's cliché, but this book/series was one that got me into collecting & hunting back issues
  3. 6.0. The wide shot of the cover looks higher grade.
  4. Possible bindery tears on both corners? slight miswrap, a little bottom edge wear along the front left and the BRFC looks slightly rounded. 9.2±0.2 Yellow covers are pretyy good at hiding stuff, so give it a good going over before you send it to CGC.
  5. I can't quite tell if the paper is fully intact on the BLFC. If pressed and that's not a large tear, around 6.0
  6. I think the low grades will still get a blue label as the repair is considered a defect. Tape is permitted by current cgc guidelines https://www.cgccomics.com/resources/restoration/
  7. 1.0 is right about where my over/under was sitting. The accumulated pieces missing from the cover, detached cover & dark tanning. I can't say with confidence it wouldn't land at 0.5
  8. This is at least a 4.5 by appearance. I can see a grade or 2 higher b/c of its mid-silver age origin & the significance. The big keys often come in just a bit higher, and the chipping is pretty typical & not that bad IMO. I would say the best thing to do with this book isn't grading or not grading. It should be sent to me for safekeeping. I promise to give it a good home
  9. Soiling, some indentions in the front cover and creasing along the bottom edge. Around 7.0 as-is. C/P for 7.5/8.0 depending on whether or not the soiling is removable.
  10. Max 5.0 b/c that tanning is pretty dark. IDK if the press will improve the grade per se, just make it lie flat.
  11. 4.0 down a bit b/c of the color loss spots on Peter's arm
  12. Two things hurt here: the color rub is pretty extensive and the back cover is also relevant to the book (i.e. not an ad). I see some light rub on the front parallel to the spine too I think. My guess is that these Akira books end up with more color rub b/c their format was intended for bookshelf storage, not necessarily bagged. 6.0/6.5
  13. Lot of reading tea leaves to figure out what to consider first. There's a table in the guide, which appears to indicate the cover detachment/tear is key defect & probably sets the ceiling at 5.5. Since the first wrap is detached too, I'd expect another grade down. I'll say 5.0 too b/c otherwise the comic is very attractive.
  14. Am I seeing a couple white marks in the UPC box blow the spider-man eye? With the scrapes on the back, I'd say no better than 9.2. With the IDed & potential issues on the front another grade deduction. Worst case is 8.5, but 9.0 seems likely
  15. I'd pose your pressing question in Grading and Restoration b/c most active people here aren't pressers, or aren't looking at tough cases. My expectation is that the is a way to press, but you'd need to know the specific way leads to the best resutls (temp limits, pressure, etc). This looks like the cover paper is cardstock & my guess is that it won't press as well as thinner paper. Looks like a >9.2 to me, as is
  16. >9.2 assuming press gets ride of the roll
  17. I'd say 9.0/9.2 pressed but for the foxing. I'm guessing more like 8.0/8.5 after taking a hit for that
  18. Color rub around the staple keeps it out of NM I think. 8.0±0.5
  19. 7.0 max with the crease. I'd knock it down to 6.5 with the color rub, or whatever, in the TRFC. There's also a concerning reddish spot in the yellow on the back. Could be from printing on the other side, but if it's not, then it would cost another grade or 2.
  20. not the worse stain or location, so I'll give it a 7.0. Keeps it down a couple of grades. My uncle took the family, including a way too young me, to this movie when it was out. I was terrified & traumatized for years. Seeing it year later, kind of cheesy.
