  2. Today, May 17th, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. Hulk and Alpha Flight Byrne Cover Alpha Flight #28 Cover by John Byrne What makes this cover truly special is that it’s both a Byrne Alpha Flight cover and a Byrne Hulk cover. You also get the added bonus of having a rare appearance of the Beyonder. Those who read comics in the 80’s will remember this character. This is an example of how to put the price of this cover in perspective: the $38,000 is what you would pay for a pretty good, but not great, Byrne X-men page. 3. Today, May 14th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Jim Aparo Nick Cardy John Romita, Jr. Featured Page: Marvel’s Greatest Comics #31 Cover (Stat) by Jack Kirby Here’s the cover that was used for Marvel’s Greatest Comics 31. It’s a stat cover because the image was taken from FF 39. If the original art to the FF 39 cover ever came to market, it would sell for north of $700,000. Unfortunately, it probably doesn’t exist, so this is the closest that any collector will get to enjoying this historic cover - though you will undoubtedly enjoy the heck out of it once you hang it up. 4. Today, May 10th, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. This Week: Captain America spread by Kirby Captain America #199 p2-3 (Spread)(Signed) by Jack Kirby There aren’t many things better in our collectible than a Jack Kirby double page spread. This Cap and Falcon spread is wall to wall action. Cap may very well be the single greatest character that Kirby ever created. Captain America and Kirby traversed from the Golden Age of comics (1941) to the Silver Age (1960’s) to 1976 when Kirby came back to Marvel and drew Captain America issue 193. These Kirby double page spreads are nearly impossible to find, especially one featuring Cap, and the now exceedingly popular Falcon. 6. Today, May 3rd, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. This week: 12 Kirby Marvel Heroes Merry Marvel Marching Society Letterhead - (5 Key Signatures) This may be one the greatest Kirby pieces that I will ever offer. That’s because of how unique it is in that it features so many Marvel heroes and it truly is one of a kind. The Merry Marvel Marching Society was created by Stan Lee in 1964 for the Marvel Fandom that was quickly catching on to the comics. For $1 you would join the club and get a membership card, a sticker, a note pad, a button and other items. Later on they included this letterhead featuring most of the Marvel heroes and they had Jack Kirby draw the characters. So when you mention one of a kind Kirby this is it. How often have we seen him draw all these characters, including Spider-Man who he rarely drew, all on one page. The provenance of the piece is that it came straight from the Kirby’s to the greatest Kirby collector we have ever known, Tony Christopher. This was one of the last items that Tony released from his famous collection and came straight to my collection. Tony went out and got signatures from some of the greats at Marvel including Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Steranko, Neal Adams, and Barry Smith. A truly priceless piece. 8. Today, April 26th, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! This week: Classic Batman Batman Power Records Back Cover This might be the most classic image of Batman that you can get and it’s drawn by the most sought after Batman artist. The composition of this cover is exceptional and having the Bat Signal in the sky is the perfect added touch. The front cover to this Power Records sold for $70,000 a number of years ago. Great Neal Adams’ pieces like this don’t come around very often. SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. 19. Today, March 12th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Bernie Wrightson Rich Buckler Jack Kirby Featured Page: New Gods Poster Orion vs Darkseid (Kirby Pencil Version-Large Art) This piece is tremendously important. First, let me explain what it actually is. This piece is the cover, it was light boxed and then Royer inked the light boxed portion of it. Kirby then added more images around it. Shown underneath the original art is the finished poster. The poster hung in comic stores, which were plentiful at the time, and is the most recognizable advertising for the Fourth World. In 1984 DC was bringing back the New Gods. This has the two most important characters from the Fourth World: Orion and Darkseid. They are finally facing off, and with Kirby pencils no less! It’s a huge piece, by the way. Ava DuVernay is directing the upcoming movie, DC's New Gods. She’s one of the hot new directors in Hollywood. I just read an article in Batman-News.com and this scene from this poster was used to talk about the upcoming movie project.
