Now I feel super intelligent because I understood everything perfectly. Probably because I read the entire original thread by Beige.

yes, that’s why I posted it and said the thread was somewhat misleading

my Spidey-sense tends to go off when someone with over 1000 posts here questions or would need to “discuss” the validity of a $500 store credit offer of the books on the OP (slabbed or not) 2c

Does anyone know how the sternako sketch With cgc grading going to work? He said contact cgc ..I emailed them to see ..just wondering if any has heard back.

CGC’s announcement said “To order one of these special sketches, access supergraphics@prevue.net and email from there for details.”

are you saying you emailed that alias for details and they said to contact CGC?!

  3. silly question, we know when the cut off dates are for these signings but when will we find out the actual dates of the signings themselves?

ex. I know Claremont was scheduled to sign around MEGACON Orlando June 4-7 but with that cancelled when will we find out the exact day of the in house signing

would like to know not only to have a sense of when the books will be coming back but Brittany had mentioned they were going to livestream parts of the appearances like they did with McFarlane and make it more interactive

EDIT:  looking back on the thread from the Todd signing, no one was told the exact date until Todd posted that he was on his way to CGC on the same day (this after his signing was pushed back because of illness)

I hope the CGC team gives us some kind of heads up in advance ..... good news is, books were turned around and graded almost instantly during that signing

Sorry for bring up an older thread, but my search for G notes was somewhat fruitless. I just received my 1st sub back and in the Modern Tier I had 3 9.4's and one 9.6 and none had grader notes. Is this the new trend?

I thought you had to purchase them for $5, no?

at least that’s what comes up when you do the cert lookup on the site

So I have come full circle.  I inherited these books from my dead twin brother.  a lot of people laughed  and cast derision when i said a Pasadena shop offered 500 bucks in store credit only.  But is that the real worth?  Who Knows?  I do now because of this website and the advice i found here.  I pulled the expensive books i bought from the photos these are all original childhood books. it is very very difficult to get a 9 in these old books....im miffed a comic shop would lowball so much  there are 100 more  But here you can clearly see well over 500 buck in store credit.

yes, unfortunately there are some shops out there that would try and take advantage of those less knowledgable so always best to use tools at your disposal before making sudden decisions .... I assume this thread though wasn’t to confirm that the value was lowballed as it appears you inherited these books raw ~ 2 years ago

yes the FF13 is signed by Jack Kirby and the Howard the Duck is signed by Frank Brunner

if the book was signed by Kirby wouldn’t it be a green label?

EDIT: I see CGC seems to have done blue labels on unwittness sigs probably before they created the green labels

as others have echoed, sorry for your loss .... looks like you are enjoying the books and the memories

  6. I wanted to send in a book for Perez to sign but damn those Avengers covers are super busy and George doesn’t exactly have the most stand out auto ... would have loved to have done 181 but just decided to pass this time

I did send in Wolverine 8 for Claremont .... I have no attachment to this book and would have leaned more toward sending in an X book (thought about 142 to sign in the sentinel blast area) but I thought Wolverine 8 would present really nice and is a cool cover

Miller was more than I’d be willing to spend

Ps. There was a new signing announced yesterday (Mike Mayhew) that I didn’t see anyone (Adamantium 😉) post yet

Giella, Sinnott and Romita for me. Legends.

    Alan Moore!

    Alex Ross would be nice.

    Lynn Varney? Find a way.

How about some celebrities and not just creators?

the question was asked about celebrities in the video I linked

short answer was CGC would like to do it but it would have to make sense for both parties, many "celebrities" are going to demand a different kind of cost (ex. Tom Holland was mentioned as an example)

  8. not sure why you wouldn't go directly to CGC

customer service is going to be your best bet  https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/93395-customer-service/

also as Lest stated you should know where he would have signed as all submissions required that they were window bagged

"Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted."

    best of luck

I was hoping since Kubert was on the con schedule he would be available as well. Im assuming more to come..

Brittany from CGC did an interview on a stream yesterday where she mentioned she is working on lots more private signings for this year and wanted community feedback as it is in almost everyone’s best interest that they bring in talent with the most appeal ... they ar looking for the best avenue to obtain feedback on a wishlist but I would assume feedback on these boards is a good starting point (JR Sr please 😀)

here is the link to the interview which is fairly long, detailed, and enjoyable

Consider this taking a book from one convention to another getting signed.  Just because the location is HQ doesn't mean it will be the same staff assisting or the same room etc.  It is logistics imo holding it back.  Then what happens in the event that someone subs for Miller and Claremont, Miller is due 1st to sign and cancels.  They would have to contact each person to determine if they still want the Claremont sig, because maybe just the 1 is a deal breaker at that point?

And trust me I would love them to find a way that works for them to do multi-sigs that doesn't make their already limited work environment chaotic.

The customer is not always right unfortunately.

as you said, as much as everyone would want this it presents a logistical challenge and until that can be properly addressed to satisfy all parties and concerns it’s just how it has to be

this is also addressed in the interview linked above

Probably mid July we should be receiving them back :foryou:

    2021?

as previously noted the Florida con has been rescheduled to the end of October

the signings were to take place in conjunction with that con because CGC HQ is within the market .... all indications now point to them holding the books until the end of October for this signing .... I don't see them flying in the artists before then for an additional signing  .... will wait for official word from CGC but based on what Delta posted these still need to be submitted this month (unless they move the deadline back and extend free membership allowance) to be held until the October event reschedule.
