  1. this one helps to tie together the ending very well. Spoilers are present so don't open this if you wish to watch the film first. http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-ending-explained-darkseid/?utm_source=SR-FB-P&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_campaign=SR-FB-P
  2. I'm not a WW expert, but a 1.0 sold for $19.5k recently, so at that price point maybe a 1.5 missing CF goes for 10k?
  3. A bad Supe vs. Bat movie won't slow down any big Supe/Bat GA keys. Those books stand alone with or without a movie. AS8 seems to have be benefiting from WW being in the movie. Female superhero popularity is at an all time high.
  4. beauiful reprint was there ever a reprint? I have the slipcase editions, but don't recall a replica reprint like they did for Batman 1 Yes. marvel masterworks GA Cap 1-4, 2005.
  5. cover is split and detached...2.0 is as high as it goes...but it does "present" better...not 60K imo, but a pretty copy in the slab... just graded a few weeks ago so not a pre May 2013 submission
  6. pretty wild stuff ...and it's a Burgos cover to boot he only needed to draw Torch and Toro on that crime cover and presto!--it would have looked like a late Marvel Mystery cover.
  7. If Detective 225 is sought due to the Martiam Manhunter first appearance then it is interesting to note that his second appearance in 226 is an incredibly scarce book, with only around 40 graded copies and most of those low grade. Same thing - although this may be a rare book, lack of graded copies doesn't necessarily = scarcity. yep, a lack of census numbers also could mean it's not as key or popular book--and in this case a 2nd appearance should have lower census numbers than a 1st....with GA, the census numbers can be more accurate as those books are truly in the rare (20 or less) or scarce (100 or less) category. Also, some of the old school collectors prefer not to slab their books, and I've estimated (with GA at least) there being the same number of raw books in existence as there are slabbed copies. There are certainly some early/mid 50s books that can rival gold in difficulty.
  8. welcome to the boards . Ask SpiderTurtle. He has sold many AF15s on these boards Here's the "for sale section" http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=78
  9. are you saying newbie GA collectors just want to make a buck off comics and aren't collecting them primarily for coolness and significance...? I wouldn't care if these books were worth half the dime they originally cost, because I'd still buy what I like. never even implied that so the MMs just aren't cool enough for them to connect to and drive up interest. . MMs not cool enough?! I'm not poking at you Rick...maybe I need a newbie GA collector to speak up and say why they don't think MMs are cool enough. I'm guessing because of the the price points that are so high---they'd rather buy a Cap book than an early MM for $5000

  11. the All Stars (and even some More Funs and Adventures) are good comparison to MM for timely. I can't understand why new GA collectors wouldn't be at least captivated by the historical importance of the MM title...how Goodman started Timely and how wild those stories and characters were compared to the tame DC flavor at that time. I don't think All Star means to DC what MM means to Timely.
  12. some time ago ,yes Marvel Comics 1 is still the top 3 comics ever produced. It's a King in any chess game. . its big for sure from a historical standpoint. Just not top 3 or even top 5 from a value standpoint I see all the early MMs regaining steam at some point. I dont...always have some demand of course as they are way cool, but too much of a disconnect title for most newer ga collectors Those newbies are missing out. I immediately liked the early MMs when I started collecting hard in the early 90s. Besides the obvious, what else pulls new GA collectors away from such titles like Marvel Mystery, a pillar of the GA? And are you saying new GA collectors control the market?

  14. it is tough above 5.0+. I think Rick had the 7.5 on the census at one point.
  15. I know what you mean... before CGC it was more difficult to determine the scarcity of some books. I regretted selling those as well... I need the 11 now.. PreCGC I used the Metro site to gauge rarity. Didn't really work because Metro's weight kinda warps reality. At one point they had two USA #6 listed on their site and I passed them both by thinking, "How rare can they be?" Now I have a rule that I do not sell a Timely unless I have an upgrade in hand. I know what you mean... but sometimes sacrifices are made... Yes USA 6 is one I'm looking for as well, I was out bid on a restored copy at an extravagant price and I never buy restored...It's way harder than issue 11 which has the reputation for hard...CGC and the internet give clarity to rarity, and we collectors do not have to rely on anyone else to tell us anymore... we just know the 8 is tougher then both of them. Yeah, I know. I had two #8s pass through my hands in one year. The highest grade was a 4.0 and, again, I thought, "How rare could it be?" I'll sell these and wait for an upgrade. Actually issue 14 IMO is the toughest USA especially in grade, I would put the 6 and 8 on par... interesting. In 22 years, I've seen more 6s than 8s pass by. They are all tough. Here are my USA 8 and 14... copies I am missing are the 5 and 6...issue 5 always seems to be over priced IMO... if there are any nice issue 6's out there would love to see.... very nice.
  16. I was talking about USA 8 Steve. Cap 8 is a schomburg cover He was responding to my post about Cap 8, which is definitely not Schomburg. sorry I goofed on this statement. Seems like Kirby on the pencils and Gabrielle or Avison on the inking.
