I remember the seller selling a sealed box case of FF books inside. Sold for something like $15k. Probably all FF 48 issues, or maybe a variety of different issues. I forgot what he said.

Yes I do remember that. That was around 15 years ago I believe, came from a gas station? I think I won one of the books from that bundle. Graded a 9.2.

I doubt this was a record price. I'm sure there was a sale 2 years ago that trumped this hammer price. Back when it was 10k/point or so.

I believe the higher offers you see are from the seller's counter offer that were declined by the buyers. I've seen this before with other auctions where higher offers were declined and a lesser offer was taken.

Well my plans have changed and looks like I will be out of town this weekend. I won't be attending the show this Sunday unfortunately. Was really looking forward to it too.. hope everyone has a great time and please post some pix!!!

Not just collectors that drive the market, also speculators/investors. With GA books such as GGA, pre heroes, sci-fi, etc. have such a smaller, specialized market usually pure collectors collect these genres. Only a handful of individuals buy these books compared to mainstream superhero books. This is a major factor on high sale prices for hero books because you have wider spectrum of buyers not just a select few.

Anything's possible, but times have changed and Spider-man is just a global pop culture icon. I'm sure everyone around the world knows who or has heard of Spider-man. Fantastic Four on the other hand, not so much. I would be shocked if FF #1 would overtake AF #15.
