And you can clearly see where the color touch was scraped off -
I think that is a good starting range for the book. Might sell for more given all the parts and restoration added. I haven't seen a coverless complete Action 1 sell publicly at auction in a very long time. Since Tec 27 is the closest book that is in the same level price-wise as an Action 1 and a complete coverless Tec 27 sold for around $80k last year, I think double that amount is a fair assessment for the Action 1.

That's what a good ole 1st generation label bump does. Potential to get a higher grade if pressed or re-graded and likely better PQ.
-
Yeah I definitely remember that range. I mean if you're going by that, then pretty damn decent price! It seems like we're heading towards 2020 values for those frequently seen auctioned books. Maybe slightly higher but not off by that much. Only the rare, seldom seen books I think will perform better.

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???

I think the more accurate way to phrase this is that the prior sales were unrealistic. I mean it's an 8.5 SA book. Yeah that CGC 8.5 FF 1 copy that sold for $350k was an anomaly. Since then, practically all of the 8.5's that sold later have sold for less. It was one of those "first to the market" books in that grade during the pandemic at that time from what I recall. -

Same Truckee Meadows copy that sold in CL last night. Almost sold for the exact same value it sold for. I was surprised that it went that high when practically all of the other SA age keys thus far went for much lower than previous. A FF #1 in CGC 8.5 condition roughly sells for $150k and under before the pandemic. -
No I totally get it. I’m just not surprised since everything that sold in early 2022 is down right now. Exact same book or not. It almost sold for almost the same price. I thought it would sell for less in the $150k range. Did relatively strong in my opinion.. 8.5's before the pandemic were selling for $150k or less.

Been through something similar times like this before so not worried. I'm still buying books
-
Are you selling yours? Nope. I could've sold at its high but decided to keep. In hindsight, I probably should have sold then, and upgraded to a nicer copy now but I already sold half of my big books during the height so I figured I might as well just hang on to my copy.

Beware…Fake high value CGC books in Pacific Northwest
Dark Knight replied to JTD's topic in Comics General
At some point these fake labels and slabs are bound to happen. It's already caused a frenzy in the card world with fake PSA flips, something I've experienced first hand and been duped unfortunately. And like someone else mentioned, in the coin world. Not to mention fake watches such as Rolexes have been around for a long time now, but now the top of the line 1/1 superclones look and feel exactly like the real thing. Only difference is you have to open the case of the watch and check out the movement. -
Ohh hummm I'll BRB
