  1. A lot to unpack and process here. I had to put it away and reread this a couple times. My first thought, after the cold shower here, was “let’s get a rope”. But the more I read this, the more I think we would all do well to incorporate your message into our approach to the hobby. You should send this into Overstreet. The market reports are the first thing I read in OPG (hey @Primetime!)and although yours has a little more “Here be dragons” warnings, I think this is important stuff. Thanks Mitch. Well done. Now let’s go see what 2022 brings p.s. - I can’t believe you didn’t mention Cap 1! I'll say it on his behalf.. Cap #1 will be the most valuable book in 2022
  2. I heard that phone bids were 20% BP and actual online bids were 25% BP, which majority were bidding/winning. Strong results nevertheless.
  3. BP doesn't automatically get calculated after a bid?
  4. https://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fcgc.asp%3F_SORT%3DYES%26id%3D%26to%3D%26priceto%3D%26pricefrom%3D1000%26x%3D25%26y%3D16%26f1%3DListDate%26ODire1%3DDESC%26f2%3Di.Title%26ODire2%3DASC%26f3%3Di.IssueNumber%2C%2Bi.VolumeNumber%26ODire3%3DASC&id=1543664
  5. I hope we can get to the bottom of this and find out the truth. This is a huge deal if the above is true. Possibly could be an oversight or a huge trade deal (comics, other collectibles, crypto, land property, pirate ship?) + the $4.5 mil cash that went down.
  6. Guess that depends on what your amazing fantasy is... PM me to find out
  7. Hey what's wrong talking about my Amazing Fantasy on the 15th day of each month
  8. That's a beauty of a 5.0 with the dark green boxes. Best of luck with the sale!
  9. Are you sure that does not already include the 15%? I saw it close then I added the 15% hence my $2.6 price all-in. You're right! Final hammer price for the Supes 1 w/ BP is $2.6 mil. I was watching the Whiz #1 closely because it also has the 15% BP and after a few seconds of refreshing, it showed the final price WITH the BP.
  10. Ugh I won't be able to see it till Sunday. Tix have sold out weeks ago ahead of time
  11. I think so, unless they change it and it gets automatically adjusted after the final hammer bid. The last time they had the 15% BP on certain lots, it wasn't included towards the final price.
  12. The $2.6 mil didn't include the 15% BP. With the BP, it's just a shade under $3 mil
  13. I saw that too and was surprised by how much it sold for. I'm assuming here, but I think whichever parties were bidding on this didn't realize that this is a direct copy and not the newwsstand copy which have sold for more in 9.8 condition. I think a 9.8 newsstand sold for around this much recently... Rookies
  14. Also, last minute bids happen because of a change of mind thing from the bidder. Certainly happened to me when I realized after extensive thinking that I really want this book in my collection and hopefully when I bid, I can also win.
  15. I do.. I just think that there are better investments out there than this.
  16. The whole 1000+ lot auction was pretty much wrapped up in under 2 hours. I really don't think any of the other auction houses would have closed that quickly. Maybe CC but I doubt it. Its really not a bad system and auctions rarely last longer then this one unless its 1-2 lots that people are going for. But it a really small percentage of lots. Yeah, that is pretty quick for a 1000+ lot auction. I think one of the main reasons behind that is how bidders who did not bid on that lot at all over the course of the auction were not permitted to bid during the extended time. The pool of bidders is thus much smaller so fewer bids would be made. I'm not sure if that is a great idea for an auction house to only limit the bidding to those who actually placed bids previously, but it is rather unique. From my perspective, it's great for buyers and bad for consignors.
  17. I just chose not to wait, placed a bunch of bids and then closed the window. Took home one lot. That's fine too, but I'm a last minute bidder especially if I'm interested in multiple lots where I can manage my bids more strategically. What do I mean by that? Well basically if say I had my max on an earlier lot and lose out on it, then maybe I can up my bidding for the next one since I have more money to spend now or vise versa. Sometimes in the heat of bidding, I tend to go an increment or two above my max if I lost out on all the rest and really wanted to win or if I really wanted that book. I want to be where the action is happening.
