  1. Yep it is automatically added on after the final winning bid is placed
  2. Ironic that you mention this copy as I know who owns it and he just sent me a pic...where would you value you it now in relation to the other sales tonight? Small world!!! That's awesome you know who owns it, he must be jumping for joy owning it. I know I would!! In terms of value, I have no idea really. I believe at that time when I saw it up for sale raw (I know it resold graded later on), the book was I think valued less than a regular normal copy of Marvel 1 maybe because there were no ads on the interior front cover? It was blank from what I remembered. But since it is a unique copy and only one in existence, I think it's the opposite from then and worth a lot more now. Pricewise, I dunno tbh...
  3. was that with the juice ? Yup! Huge price!!! Blew my expectations away by a large margin
  4. Yeah some of these books that sold can definitely buy you a pretty decent house depending on what state you want to live at. Speaking of the housing market, it might be in a bubble right now.
  5. Not sure if this same sentiment would apply in today's marketplace where books are just so expensive that buyers are looking for just that one more reason why they should be willing to mannup by opening their wallets a bit more wider to acquire a book. Especially when you look at the huge price differences being paid nowadays for Direct copies versus Newsstand copies when for decades it was stated that there were no differences in prices being paid. Perhaps.. We are in a very unique situation right now. Things can definitely change.
  6. That is correct as well. It is definitely apples to oranges when comparing the Bat 1 dot vs no dot to a Marvel 1 Oct vs Nov copy. The Oct copy is for sure the 1st print and more valuable. I think we can all agree on that.
  7. I dunno, maybe it's one of those rare instances where one sold for a bargain because it was overlooked, private sale or even a scam (not sure if it gets reported on GPA). Since it both of those sales are different years (I'd like to compare both books that sold around the same time period to be more accurate because markets can change year in and year out), maybe 2013 was a down year for pre-robin Tec books? Maybe the Tec 33 had poor page quality and/or bad eye appeal? Can't tell without side by side pictures. But for the majority of the data that I've seen as well as my past experiences collecting pre-robin tecs, prices overall were neck and neck. Similar to Tec 29 and 31. I guess the only thing we can agree on is that both books are in an upward trajectory.
  8. Wow, impressive result for the Marvel 1 2.5 @ $363,528!!! Same copy sold in 2017 for around $87k. Big gain!
  9. From a lot of the talks and debate regarding the dot vs no dot Bat 1, the conclusion I remembered about it was that there was really no major price difference between the two. But, it is true that the no dot version is the rarer copy to come by.
  10. Mann you just like beating on them poor cattle with your stick don't ya Woo!
  11. Still kicking myself for not buying the Lloyd Jacquett Marvel 1 Oct. proof copy for under $20k back in 2013 . That's what happens when you don't MANNUP
  12. That definitely ain't little at all She's a beauty, congrats!!!! This is the kind of copy I wish I can afford and have in my collection.
  13. It probably would have pushed $400k without the restoration. Metro/CC had this same copy up for sale at $350k quite recently in their booth without the QES sticker. Looks like it is right in line with the sale price.
  14. Could it beat the AF #15 in record price? Someone will definitely pay up for this
  15. but hulk was gray in his first appearance. Yeah that's true. I guess maybe later on they stole the idea of his clothing when he turned green
  16. Do you think Marvel 1 is still undervalued? Yes Marvel 1 has the history and it's a great book, actually either my #2 or #3 favorite book in the golden age behind Tec 27. So, definitely not trying to undervalue the book nor degrading its importance. Yes, it's true that there are less copies out there of Marvel 1 compared to Bat 1 and Cap 1. Out of the top 10 GA keys, I think Bat 1 is the most common. Even if there are hundreds of copies of Bat 1 out there, it is still commanding a high price. It's very liquid and still high in demand for as long as I can remember. Sometimes rarity does not translate to more valuable. If that's the case, then every platinum age book should be more valuable than golden age and silver age, but it's not the case. All about popularity and key issues and in today's comic book market, hype/movie centered characters for the most part. Are the hike in prices of Marvel 1 caused by the the rumors/speculation surrounding Namor/Submariner that he will be in a Marvel movie or is it because of the love and history of the book? if it's purely on the speculation that Subby will be in a Marvel movie, than Motion Picture Funnies Weekly being it is the 1st app of Namor should be in the same level as Marvel Comics #1 or more. There's what only a dozen copies in existence? Nothing will trump Action 1 and Tec 27 as the #1 and #2 book in the hobby. Period. Those books will remain in that position (it's possible they can switch spots) forever! Taking a glance at the Heritage archives on past sales of Marvel #1 (of course more copies sold in different venues as well as privately). From 2002 - 2010, there was on avg. 3-4 copies that sold. From 2011 until 2020, roughly just one copy for sale. There was maybe a couple years in that time period where no copies were sold. This was the point I was talking about where Marvel 1 was for some reason held in private collections, rarely up for sale until recently in 2021 where there were 2 copies that sold and so far this year 3 copies known. Who knows if there are other private deals in the works today. So I am predicting volume will pick up once again and bring out more copies for sale restored and unrestored. Lastly, with regards to Tec 33 vs Tec 35. For as long as I've been collecting Pre-Robins, it seems that both books are neck and neck in price. There was really no large discrepancy in value at least in low - mid grades. There was never a period that I can recall where a Tec 33 sold for half a Tec 35? If that actually happened, I must've been in hibernation mode . I've always thought Tec 33 is undervalued. I think it is more important historically than Tec 29 and Tec 31 which sells for higher. But, it looks like cooler covers rule and Tec 33 is lacking in that department compared to those two.
  17. Book still looks like a 6.5 tops to me. That top left corner spine area is distracting to my eyes.
  18. Certainly makes the Tec 29 CGC 4.5 that sold recently in the CL auction look like a bargain buy
  19. Ahh so that's where Marvel got the idea of the Hulk character from. Pretty cool.
  20. Yea no question the Marvel 1 2.5 > 4.5. I think more copies of Marvel 1 will come out for sale after these current strong prices. All this is cyclical. I remember many years ago where there was an abundant supply of Marvel 1s for sale at auctions and on dealer walls and websites. Marvel 1 at that time underperformed compared to other GA mega keys. Now it's obviously the opposite. Would be interesting to see if this will hold up long term as well as other key books. As of now, the current comic book market is not slowing down in terms of record breaking sales where some people have feared.
  21. Strong prices for both Tec 33 and 35 books. Some pretty strong prices by this event auction. Most of the estimates I had in my head were blown out of the water. I guess the Russia/Ukraine war and inflation did not play a factor in the high prices realized.
  22. Congrats Clark!!! Happy for you and the results too
