  1. This thread was made for people to show off their AF15 purchases for their collection. Let's make it that way again. Sure we can discuss an AF 15 sale or two if it set a record price for that grade or something that sold for a huge discount that was eye popping, but to continually discuss about every single sale, it gets old. Just my 2 cents. I didn't intend to bash people about their posts, but wanted this thread to be what it was made for.
  2. Short answer to the question.. yes for the most part. Still holding some big books, but a lot I've auctioned off or sold privately. Waiting patiently for a major correction . It happened with Pokemon cards, sports cards, seems like video games too now so why not comics?
  3. That's some mail call Congrats!! So you're the one who won that beautiful 2.5 copy
  4. Why are some of you shocked that the sale prices can be more or less what they sold for previously. It's normal.. It's like everyone is micro-managing each and every AF 15 sale like the world is going to end
  5. Yeah like the entire Promise Collection is a gift grade
  6. I don't know how it is considered a spoiler, just speculating. Who knows maybe the show will go on and on without any of the early seasoned characters still around. But it's inevitable that someday, the characters who have been there since season 1 would likely venture off of the WD series kinda like how Andrew Lincoln is no longer a part of the show. I actually thought after they "killed him" off, the WD books would tank, but I was wrong. For me, the series did tank right after he left and after a few of the characters had died off. The show wasn't the same to me again and I would maybe watch a sprinkle of the next season or so and then completely just go dark and stopped watching. It just isn't the way it used to be. Also, there are swirling rumors for weeks now before I posted that it could be Norman's last season. Who knows if it's all talk to get more viewers to watch the upcoming season or not. I'll for sure be watching it because of these "rumors."
  7. And how much would the entire collection add up to after all books sold in today's market Everyone would be living in Broke Back Mountain if that were the case
  8. Congrats to all club members owning a copy. As for me, I was not a fan of the book then, still not a fan now. Just can't stand looking at ole Paste Pot Pete on the cover everyday without Dr. Strange on it. For the record, I used to own a 9.6 copy that I sold several years ago as a flip.
  9. And now prices are even nutser! It's like 5-10 years in the future baked in. Highly doubt those who are paying record prices today would be unsuccesful in flipping in a short period of time...
  10. And I was about to get my ready and heated. Welp, looks like it's going back to the pantry.
  11. Yeah, I agree with this. A lot of hype around the Promise collection now. Perhaps a lot of the new money people only know about the Promise collection as a pedigree without knowing that there are others that have been discovered so they see it as a once in a lifetime chance of owning a copy with a pedigree status. Of course I'm just speculating on why it's been selling for a crazy amount.
  12. Just answering the question of the OP.. After Daryl dies in the show is my guess.
  13. As silly as #5 sounds, in today's world it is definitely a reality. I mean people dumping millions of $'s on digital art and assets . Oh better yet an imaginary statue .
  14. Restored copies are the new unrestored copies For those thinking this can be unrestored, I highly doubt it. Would put a lot of work into it especially with the tape on the spine that is covering up the amateur color touch and then scraping off chunks of color touch which will result in who knows how much paper loss. The grade will suffer big time. Can the tape be removed safely without chemicals?
  15. Then how do you explain the slabbed page phenomenon? Therein lies the biggest question of them all. Why are single slabbed pages selling for a crazy amount and if put together complete, would cost more than buying a complete coverless copy. This is something to ask single paged collectors because there is no definitive answer, but I can think of a myriad of reasons: 1) It's cheaper to buy single pages rather than a complete coverless that can be worth six figures. Everyone has a budget they could spend and this attracts more collectors and is more attractive for their wallets. 2) Maybe that buyer/collector needed that one single page to complete their coverless copy 3) Maybe that buyer/collector wants to display that single page because it's meaningful to them or it is a significant part/panel of the entire book. Similar to OA collectors display their treasures. All it takes is that one panel/page. 4) Just to own a piece of history. Ya just like that "No. 1" Action Comics cover piece 5) Just to have a third party grading label say this is a Detective Comics #27 or Action Comics #1. Yeah it's funny and silly, but I think some collectors feel that by having a label with a big book stated on it, it makes them have a sense of pleasure and "wowness."
  16. I take it you don't follow The Onion's work. Nothing is off-limits, and I like it that way. I don't. There's humor where it is fun and tasteful. But some humor can go too far as in the case of this year's Oscars.
  17. Well if it is an AF #15 with white pages, the grade has to be higher than an 8.5 which to my knowledge is/was the highest graded White paged copy (a copy I used to own too).
  18. I think a lot of people knew, including myself, what the previous grade and label was. That too hurt the price.
