  1. Aha, so I was correct with regards to the color touch removal (which I can see the amateur work done in the red area bottom right edge) and the piece off back was removed. Whoever had the work done and sold it in MCS profited handsomly.
  2. Yeah that's great too, but I would prefer a different colored label to distinguish the two quicker especially when going through a variety of slabs at a show.
  3. Might just be me, but I think CGC should change their stance on unwitnessed signatures. There are some ways to prove that a signature is authentic without a witness present by looking at known legit examples. If PSA/DNA can do it, I think CGC can with the proper staff who have had years of experience with signature authentication.
  4. With $4k, you can get a CGC 8.0/8.5 which is not mid grade. If you want to go all in with one book for $4k, I'd look into a bigger key like X-Men 1, Hulk 1, JIM 83, FF1 (which I think is undervalued). It also depends on if you don't mind owning lower grades for these copies. Just stay away from restored examples.
  5. @GreatCaesarsGhost You hit a light bulb in my head when you mentioned about the ad for the desk. Maybe someone on here who still owns or at least taken a picture of any of the comic book ad items that were up for sale can create a thread solely on that. Would love to see the foot fungus one
  6. Might do more harm than good if resto removed. I don't think it is possible nor would any pro attempt at it, my opinion.
  7. Boy that cover is so bright, I needed to put on my sunglasses
  8. All raw books that I picked up at a storage unit where a guy was selling his collectibles back in 2012. He had about 4 or 5 storage units filled with different stuff like toys, cards, posters, autographed stuff, short and long boxes of comics, etc. At that time, I was only interested in comics, boy I wish I picked up other stuff in his storage locker. But anyways, this is what I bought: 6 copies of New Mutants #98 at $12 a piece.. All graded CGC 9.6 2 copies of Batman #200 for $100 each. One graded out a 9.4 and the other a 9.6. An original 1997 Batman the Animated Series cell framed and with a COA out of 500 made (just had to buy it) What a great day that was
  9. Take it a step further from grading packs. What about grading wax boxes too! I think only GAI is the only grading company that grades boxes (I heard they are unreliable, but I cannot personally say) and I know BBCE Steve Hart only authenticates packs and boxes (he on the other hand has been doing this for years and is the leading authenticator in the hobby).
  10. It was during a work day of June, 2012 while I was on break checking out ebay. I normally scroll through the golden age and silver age section frequently when I get the chance just to see if anything new listed up. At around 11 am, I saw that there was a listing for an original Batman #1 with a buy it price of $20k at around good condition. The seller had pretty good feedback, I believe over 1000 positives from what I recall, but he didn't have any previous comic book sales or feedback. I quickly scrolled through the pictures just to make sure that it is the real thing and if there is anything odd or weird I can maybe find from those pix. Nothing unusual I saw. I read the description in which he mentioned that the book was in a trunk with older comics (I remember he also had a Batman #2 with the same pencil writing that is on my book) inside that was found in Maine. I don't remember if he stated that it was from a garage sale or from a antique store or anything of that nature. But anyways, I got really excited and at that time, the price for a Bat 1 in around the good price was maybe $10k more. I quickly got excited knowing I may have only minutes to decide whether I should gamble and buy or just forget about it. After a few steps back and forth in my office, I quickly pulled the trigger and paid instantly. As soon as I received the book, I quickly sent it off to CGC to get graded. After 8 years, I still have the book in my collection left the same way when I received it
  11. I'm sure that there will be some promotional discount if this card grading thing gets started with CGC. Like with anything new on the block, it's the best way to attract prospective customers.
  12. Definitely Does CGC grade videogames yet Because..... WATA is as close as it gets to the CGC grading scale. Not sure if CGC has any affiliation, but Paul Litch and Matt Nelson are in the WATA advisory board. https://www.watagames.com/who-we-are#meet-our-team
