  1. I was 11. Started reading DD just a few issues later - 174 I think. 182 was the first issue I ever got from a sub.
  2. And this is my favorite homage to my favorite cover of all time. Signed by Miller, Janson and Mack.
  3. I think I only have two books with three sigs, but they’re two of my absolute favorites. Here’s one:
  4. He’s excellent. I saw Joe Quesada do a panel at a ComicCon, and he said they cast Charlie Cox because of how good he was in Boardwalk Empire. They were impressed by his ability - as that character - to seamlessly move back and forth between tender love and soulless violence.
  5. New news on Crossover series (at least to me). It sounds like Marvel is using Echo and Deadpool/Wolverine to test the market for violent shows. Also, they’re putting together a crossover event in Echo, Born Again and Spider-Man 4 that’s going to lead into a storyline based on Devil’s Reign. I’m in!
  6. I totally agree. I'm hopeful that the Echo series will start to show this, as they went back to the drawing board on it, and the trailer actually looks like they're recognizing the street-level violence of this series. Hoping they stick with that in the DD reboot.
  7. The storyline from the Born Again comics is one of the best ever. Why you would call this "Born Again," but move away from the original concept, is completely beyond me. I do look forward to a new story, but one that compromises DD's identity and puts MM/DD in a psychological war of chess with the Kingpin is something that would keep me up at nights in anticipation.
  8. Anyone know anything about the Marv Wolfman signing? It was supposed to go in August but I'm still showing CCS in process.
  9. I'd say 5.5 or 6.0, depending on the stain on the back cover. The staple placement shouldn't affect the grade. Fantastic book to have - congrats!
  10. Agree. I couldn’t see anything wrong with the front, and there’s a bit of soiling on the back that should clean up but unfortunately that tear will ding you.
  11. Same - mine still shows no progress and I haven't seen anything anywhere.
  12. One of my favorite covers, and my favorite homage to that cover.
  13. It’s so unlike CGC to pass on revenue opportunities. Wouldn’t they rather grade books twice than once? It’s really going to hurt the signature program’s revenues if people stop cracking 9.8s because they’re going to drop. Chew on it Matt Nelson!
  14. Yes. Sometimes I can look at a 9.8 and know it’ll never get a 9.8 today, but it’s getting more and more common that books that really should get one don’t. A 9.8 is supposed to allow 1-2 minor handling/manufacturing defects, like a tiny spine tick that doesn’t break, and they really seem like they don’t anymore.
  15. Have others seen grades getting a lot more harsh on ss books? I’m seeing a LOT of 9.8s go in for sigs and coming back as 9.6s. I recently sent in a big batch of 20 books for sigs. 6 of them that went in as slabbed 9.8s came back as 9.6s. Is this a thing or am I horrifically unlucky?
  16. Pressing will not clean that up since it breaks color.
  17. Great book. Not just a classic DD, but the first Romita Sr. Spider-Man. Pretty copy!
  18. I'm not sure if it's the one you're referring to, but manwithoutfear.com is a fantastic site for all DD fans. It's got every variant of every book catalogued, and also has lots of good info on upcoming releases.
  19. A press will help that rippling, as long as it’s only rippling. It’s hard to tell from the photos whether it breaks color. If it doesn’t, a press should fix it. If it does break color, I’d say 9.4-9.6. the other issue though is that vertical line running between the A and R in “Wars.” If that’s a manufacturing issue then it shouldn’t ding you. If it happened unnaturally, though, it’ll hit the grade pretty heavily. If it’s a mark or scratch then I think you’re probably looking at a 7.5 or 8.0. Hoping it’s not!
  20. Came right up with a little white eraser. I’ll certain give this a CP when I send it in.
  21. I welcome the considerable expertise of this group. I’m especially curious what you think about what looks like it could be really mild tanning or foxing on the top of the back cover. Thanks in advance.
  22. Have anyone's Ross sig books moved to grading? Mine are still sitting with CCS.
  23. I'd rather not follow the Born Again storyline because I've read the books and would rather get something new. I do, however, hope they stick with the storyline of the Kingpin mentally torturing MM. That was so incredibly well done in the books, it's what makes Kingpin one of my favorite characters. It sounds like it's going to be more along the lines of the end of Series 5 though, where Kingpin runs for Mayor of NYC.
