  1. When you think its always going to be available, even if the price is reasonable, you don't feel the urgency to act. Once it's at auction, you know you have to act if you want it. I see it often on lower end items. Either I have it for sale on my CAF, or someone else does, and once it goes to auction, it goes for more than the previous for sale price. Malvin
  2. Hi Folks, Mid-aution bump and scans. The Marshall Rogers Batman is only at $206, but the Batman Cult page is at $750 Here are the links and scans link to Marshall Rogers Batman action page link to Bernie Wrightson Batman Cult page Thanks for looking and happy collecting Malvin
  3. While I believe that the floor is certainly high for any older big 2 covers, I think better covers (be it content or artist) would still fetch a premium over plainer covers. It's just that a rising tide floats all boats (or however that expression goes) Malvin
  4. was that a cover or splash? Thought it was a splash. I was the underbidder, but I placed my bid early and was not going to go after it strong. Malvin
  5. Hi Folks, I scrounged up a few more pieces of art to sell on ebay starting at 1 cent with no reserve! They are: 1. Howard Chaykin Wolverine page showing the death of Wolverine! 2. Wellinton Alves Guardians of the Galaxy page with the full team 3. Tom Grummett Superboy page! ebay link Thanks for looking Malvin
  6. grail is a strong word, and overpaying is relative. So if are talking "real money" (which for me is a few thousand) I would not overpay unless it was "grailish" However, if we are talking something cheap, like a $25 page that it would take $100 to buy, I would do it if it hits a nostalgic sweet spot. As well, if I like it, I could spend $100 on a page that is worth only $5 (or $0) with little hesitation. Malvin
  7. Hi Folks, I consigned a couple of pages on comiclink, a Bernie Wrightson Cult page and a Marshall Rogers Batman page. Both are large art too - 13" x 19", so take a look and bid and help me feel less guilty about all the money I spent on art! link to Marshall Rogers Batman action page link to Bernie Wrightson Batman Cult page Thanks for looking and happy collecting Malvin
  8. Hi Folks, I don't have a lot to sell but it's time to start my 1 cent no reserve auctions! The items I have listed are: 1. Tom Grummet Action 737 page with Superman. Mark Waid scripts too!! 2. Wellinton Alves Avenges page with the full team - Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Wasp ebay link You will also see that I have listed quite a few BIN items, including a Barry Kiitson JLA Year Onecover. You can hit the bin on ebay if you want but they are (or will be) listed on CAF for 10% off! Thanks for looking Malvin
  9. Awesome thanks! I was on that page and just changed the bigger picture and didn't see the small one. profile pic changed, although maybe I will pick a different piece of art rather than mayor mushroom. Malvin
  10. actually, i was thinking of changing mine and I can't seem to figure out where to do it, can someone point it out for me? Malvin
  11. At least you only lost ~$35 + shipping. It could have been worse! Malvin
  12. Is this the first time you are reading Calvin and Hobbes Simon or are you re-reading it?
  13. hey, the same gene that drives us to collect gives us all these quirks too! But tell artist to use the same size board for the same issue! For the love of god, give us uniformity! Malvin
  14. Yeah, large art has its positives but it bugs me a bit too. I don't frame up my pieces and having all my 11x17 in one pile, 13x19 in another, and extra large one in yet another is annoying. It's most annoying when its the same series and for some inexplicable reason, the pages are different sizes so they are stored in different places. Malvin
  15. Hi Folks, I added a few more pages for sale on CAF. All are published from DC or marvel and ranges from $9 to $160! The pages are: 1. Butch Guice Aquaman page 2. Neil Edwards Hercules splash (also used for a poster) 3. Steve McNiven Fantastic Four splash CAF FS Gallery Thanks for looking Malvin
  16. I'm in Canada too so I know there can be issues with borders/customs and just more hassle for sellers.. That's why I have made many friends in this hobby and most of my US purchases goes to a friend in the US to avoid these issues. Malvin
  17. So, not to start an argument, but let me explore this further. This started with someone unhappy because they lost out on a piece and the other winner is simply just selling it for more. Now the scenario is the person who lost out, was wiling to pay more but was "out tried". I can't seem to comprehend this scenario. Why would the original seller turn down a higher offer? Is it one of those cases where someone pretends to be a big fan but isn't? Malvin
  18. There are many points here and I just want to focus on one. If I had bid my max on a piece that I really want for my collection and I lost. I would move on. If someone tries to sell it for more 1 second later, that is their business. There are other art out there. Malvin
  19. yeah, 400-500% is not surprising at all in that timespan. Heck, for many of my pieces, if you offered 5x of the price in 2009 today, my first thought would be that you are a low baller ! Malvin
  20. I still do it, but in theory the time is spend is just the extra leisure time I have (e.g. I am surfing ebay while watching TV) so "rewarding for time" isn't a concept. I still had a few good ones last year, but its definitely less than previous years. Malvin
  21. artwork no longer goes under the radar anywhere! All my usual fishing holes (on sale during holidays, wrong category on ebay, obscure auction houses, etc) are pretty much getting full value these days Malvin
