  1. Is this the first time you are reading Calvin and Hobbes Simon or are you re-reading it?
  2. hey, the same gene that drives us to collect gives us all these quirks too! But tell artist to use the same size board for the same issue! For the love of god, give us uniformity! Malvin
  3. Yeah, large art has its positives but it bugs me a bit too. I don't frame up my pieces and having all my 11x17 in one pile, 13x19 in another, and extra large one in yet another is annoying. It's most annoying when its the same series and for some inexplicable reason, the pages are different sizes so they are stored in different places. Malvin
  4. Hi Folks, I added a few more pages for sale on CAF. All are published from DC or marvel and ranges from $9 to $160! The pages are: 1. Butch Guice Aquaman page 2. Neil Edwards Hercules splash (also used for a poster) 3. Steve McNiven Fantastic Four splash CAF FS Gallery Thanks for looking Malvin
  5. I'm in Canada too so I know there can be issues with borders/customs and just more hassle for sellers.. That's why I have made many friends in this hobby and most of my US purchases goes to a friend in the US to avoid these issues. Malvin
  6. So, not to start an argument, but let me explore this further. This started with someone unhappy because they lost out on a piece and the other winner is simply just selling it for more. Now the scenario is the person who lost out, was wiling to pay more but was "out tried". I can't seem to comprehend this scenario. Why would the original seller turn down a higher offer? Is it one of those cases where someone pretends to be a big fan but isn't? Malvin
  7. There are many points here and I just want to focus on one. If I had bid my max on a piece that I really want for my collection and I lost. I would move on. If someone tries to sell it for more 1 second later, that is their business. There are other art out there. Malvin
  8. yeah, 400-500% is not surprising at all in that timespan. Heck, for many of my pieces, if you offered 5x of the price in 2009 today, my first thought would be that you are a low baller ! Malvin
  9. I still do it, but in theory the time is spend is just the extra leisure time I have (e.g. I am surfing ebay while watching TV) so "rewarding for time" isn't a concept. I still had a few good ones last year, but its definitely less than previous years. Malvin
  10. artwork no longer goes under the radar anywhere! All my usual fishing holes (on sale during holidays, wrong category on ebay, obscure auction houses, etc) are pretty much getting full value these days Malvin
  11. As collectors say to each other, you like what you like. It's always good and bad when your max price is 7x the final hammer price. Good to win it for so much cheaper than what you are willing to apy Bad that you are willing to pay 7x above market. Either way, congrats! Malvin
  12. You saw this on ha? That's meaningless, it's a standard ha feature Malvin
  13. I think Quesada is with Kwan Chang now. Malvin
  14. I loved Babylon 5! Too bad it's not on re-runs right now (don't tell me to stream it, I just watch whatever is on TV and don't chase after shows) Malvin
  15. Nice! When I first skimmed your headline I thought you found a new successful way of HAGGLING for art! Malvin
  16. yeah, I wasn't sure what the 2009 sale price had to do with anything either. Malvin
  17. yup, that works, acid free is all you need. Malvin
  18. Its been discussed many times, archival glue stick is fine. I think I did a few early on, but haven't bothered to do so since. Malvin
  19. I see them on ebay all the time polluting the OA section I haven't paid attention to the prices (especially when compared to initial purchase) but I'm sure you can sell and get most of your money back and even additional money depending on the specific AE Malvin
  20. I didn't even know it was on, I was just killing time and searching for stuff on comicarttracker (where I always forget my password) and was linked to an piece on HA. Should be interesting, for the first time in awhile, there are a lot of pieces that aligns with my collecting interest and budget. We shall see, I have been generally slowing down though Malvin
  21. Congratulations Roger! I'm glad you were able to land your grail! Malvin
  22. I listed a few thing for sale on my caf: 1. Howard Chaykin Sabretooth and Namora full splash 2. Tom Grummett and Larry Stucker Fantastic Four page with Mr. Fantastic 3. Daredevil page with Kingpin by Dave Ross and Mark Morales CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  23. Marshall Rogers! Don't forget Marshall Rogers! Malvin
  24. Or.. even though I sound like a broken record, it's not really a deal! If it was a $100 page that was priced at $50, I can see people not bothering to make 50 bucks after all the effort and selling fees. But it sounds like this piece is priced in the thousands, implying that potential profit is at least a thousand (even before the 1K discount). If it is in the right eBay category, with good scans and no typos in the title and description, then It's probably not a deal. It's still possible that someone could buy it and make money if they find the "right buyer" but I really doubt that it is a no brainer Buy It Now like it is being described. Malvin
  25. I was going to type something then I realized I already expressed the same thought in the first reply to that thread. But adding cover dress as an overlay is not a modification or tampering in my mind and has no negative impact on the value. I question the amount of positive impact, but I do not believe that it has any negative impact at all. Malvin
