  1. sorry to say, even that 1.8 cost me more than the above Wow, you over paid, Surfer's Cap 3 is a 9.6 highest graded....you over paid well, if a 9.6 is on the table, that would be an easy one ...a 4.0, eh... Oh busted, Magic marker 9.6...oh no that was a grass roots collectable 9.6

  3. Funny you should ask....... First, Daddy want Daddy like, AS 1 in VF Second I'll take three of the Amf 15, then trade two back to you for the AS 1
  4. Vern, Wow, nice books.......you have been a busy guy!!!! Thank you for sharing!
  5. You got Jacked brotha, I can't see that book being anything other than 8.0 unless there is some hidden defects..... Even with off-white pages, which in my book are great.....a 6.0 seems like your express grading got exactly that...expressed right through...I would call, and talk with someone and have them explain why this book is only a 6.0! I mean if thats the grade there should be a reason, and if not then they need to regrade this book!!! I also don't care what the grade says, I have not seen a better copy yet!!! Sorry Rich! Paul
  6. The majority of my purchases were over by the 70's but I still was buying after that date. I bought a complete set of Classics, a Tracy collection, a vf/near mint Dell collection, and assorted odds and ends. Wouldn't it be funny if I went through old correspondence and discovered I'd been approached by the Church family, years before Chuck made his deal, and I'd bought some of the collection but never followed up on the rest of it. On a serious note, I've noticed the similarity of the coding on some of my books to those of the Mile Highs. I just assumed it was something lots of newstands must have been doing. How do collectors and CGC distinguish what is the genuine article? Coding + Smell + Page Quality + Gloss = Church My wife has a similar method for determining who passed gas: Verberation+Duration+Smell+black out= Shommy
  7. paul, i have the 8 from this same collection; got the same little code and writing on it. i've got to go get it for the geekfest, and i'll try to remember to scan it to show you. Sounds cool, do you know the provinance behind the collection? Please do post the book, would love to see it. Paul
  8. Thank Mr. Parker! Richards books just about exploded my head, they are newstand fresh...Minty!
  9. mm, why does that book look familiar? mmm...I think I got it from some guy named Vern...Oh, thats you! Got a little lucky with the grade, pretty rough 3.0...but whatever thanks for the deal.
  10. If I was the grader, I would have gone to 7.5...White Pages, come on nice book!
  11. I think I would along with a Cap #1 of same caliber would want this book more than any other. I used to dream of owning both in NM as a young boy in the late 70's early 80's. If I could have dreamed that it would be worth so much, either one of them I would have surely found a way to get my Dad to buy both. I remember trying to convince him to buy me a Cap 1 in 1981 for arouond 1500.00, I told him in 20 yrs it will be worth 20K. He thought I was right, but that was a lot of money and he said we couldn't afford to gamble like that for such a long term. That same book would be worth at least 85K or more today, it was so nice. Saw in one of those black and white auction books. I don't remember which one, but I went to bed with that stinking booklet for months dreaming of owning a Cap 1.
