I would like to see and hear other opinions on comic books that have a better back cover than the front cover. Here are my first two examples: Justice Machine Annual #1 (first appearance of the Elementals) and Comico Black Blook. Read almost as many Indies as I did the Big Two growing up and read more Comico than any other Indie. Sometimes I turn my JM Annual around to display and if I ever slab the Black Book, I'd probably do the same.

Maybe a lawyer can weigh in on this, but to me it is not at all unusual and I would be shocked if they used absolute numbers. When they use "approximately" it leaves the door open in case other instances are discovered, but if they use a hard number they can be shown to be wrong if that number changes.
I work in data analysis and reporting and we have managers (some lawyers) that have us intentionally summarize with this type of wording. The literal number is what we truly think it to be (at that time) but the "approximately" is a way of acknowledging that "we only know what we know". It's the purest form of transparency maybe?

Ok... but I got excited at the prospect of black labels for Comics!
I thought it was something to do with pedigree labels.

Why when I hear eBay do I think of the quote from Star Wars "hive of scum and villainy" Do they ever go after scammers? or is it just known as a safe hideout. The Playstation scams were legendary, I could spot tons of them, so why are they all left up, why do they seemingly allow those easily spotted scams to stay up? like all the Princess or Valentino beanie baby scams still UP or other HUGE price scams to try and cheat people? I don't get it, I could go through right now and point out tons of clear scams, a team of a few people could do it easily. It's time for all companies to hit back, stop the thieves and scammers.
Let the buyer beware?

Maybe CGC will post something tomorrow (Monday) but I don't see why they would rush to make a weekend statement.

I'm hoping we have some celebrity comic artists do the court room sketches. Then they can auction on Heritage. Then they can have a signature series. That's where my collector's eye is focused next!

Happy 20th Anniversary to what might be one of the best threads ever.
20 years ago, on February 3rd, 2004, the wheels were set in motion, "and as SICK as it sounds, they REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY are."
Now more than ever, this thread is relevant in these trying times.
It's funny how folks 3 pages in were complaining about how long the thread was. Good read. Hope you are doing well Ian.

Someone about 300 or so pages back said that they purchased one of the books on the list from the alleged scammer in person. They were also offered other books that ended up on the list. The alleged scammer was not alone.
I get that some people know the identity of the alleged scammer and that is great. Is this person known to comic dealers? Are the buddies known as well? What is preventing these bad actors from clearing out their remaining inventory before anyone gets a chance to name them publicly?
If this was already answered, sorry for the repeat question. Also, thanks to everyone who is shining light on this and sharing what they are able to find.
If we were playing Clue I'd guess TC of CBS with the heat gun in the reholder room.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here...
If you're trying to insult Matt Nelson then you're out of line.
Maybe he's right. Maybe he doesn't know. Or maybe he's saying what he is allowed to say by his employer.
I believe there is an inside man but that's because it's the only way I can logically make this make sense. I could be completely wrong. Doesn't even matter. Regardless, insulting the guy is stupid. CGC was thrown into a bad situation (or 3) and is trying to figure this all out.
I'm just a fan of What's Happening.

I could hear the defense now, "we were just trying to help occifer and we were doing great!"
Then Heywood Nelson acts as damage control and publicly states that there is no inside man Hey! Hey! Hey! it was a woman baby! So I ain't lying.

I know it's a stretch but is there any way to tell if any CGC staff have recently been "let go"? If there is an "inside man" I'm assuming it would NOT be a grader. Rather it would be someone with access to the labeling/encapsulation. We do have a list of the current grading team which is available online if we did want to start there. Meet the Graders | CGC (cgccomics.com)
Is anyone intimate enough with the staff to know if anyone is missing?

I had two old slabs graded 9.6 white and I decided to send to CCS and then CGC for regrade. They both came back 9.8 white. One of the two had grader note "light spine stress lines to cover". I always felt that was my pound of flesh.

Maybe one more press? But only if 9.9 pre-screen is available.
