  1. I started to read through this thread but it got very long very quickly. Instead of trying to slip and already lower grade inner well into a carefully opened higher grade outer well, is it possible the fraudster just has access to brand new CGC outer wells and the sonic welder thingy? Maybe I'm not knowledgeable enough about the encapsulation process but if I had a case of new outer wells (which I've seen available in comic shops) and the right tool to seal, couldn't I be swapping books all day?

I read somewhere that the reason was that the "rights" to use the Human Torch specifically were tied up at the time, like they were sold separately somewhere.  I assume to some entity that was interested in making a Human Torch solo film?

I think you are right. The trademark was the real issue but all the school kids would make up stories about some kid in Omaha or Detroit that set himself on fire. Of course we also had routine visits from the Killer Clown and his pedophile Van.

I think Robin wins it hands down. Wearing the worst costume ever Robin was so despised that DC Comics gave readers the opportunity to call a 800 number and vote whether to kill him or not. Of course he was killed.

I remember making the call. I placed it from my parent's bedroom. I had to build up my courage.

Thanks for that info.......that makes a ton of sense....not sure why I'm so stupid......I always just trudge thru ebay thinking it's that way or the highway.

No worries. That's why we share on here. :) I had discovered MyComicShop years ago and have bought and sold from Buddy several times. When I first saw them on eBay (I think it was a Veronica #28) I was like "let me check their website" and sure enough same book listed for much cheaper. They are smart to list on eBay to increase their audience but it's obvious they inflate the price there to cover the eBay selling fee. I completely get it.

  5. A family friend of mine was selling off a collection that he showed me. I didn't have the funds or the desire to purchase myself at the time but I was going to try to help him. Within the 60 some long boxes I found almost an entire box of these. There were other Solson boxes too like How to Draw TMNT and TMNT Teach Karate. I told him that these were "rare" but would flood the market if he sold them all at once. He ended up selling cheap because he was moving. Not sure where they ended up but I'm in NJ. So just be wise that there may be 100 9.8s and anther 50 9.6s of Samurai Santa entering the market.

I think maxes out at 7.0. I'd want some kind of guarantee/protection if it came back Q/color touched. I've run into this a couple of times now & "buyer beware" isn't that satisfying with that kind of investment.
