wasnt me, but Im sure we'll all look back and say "smart buy". The census wont fill up for 9.0+ Showcase 23s any time soon, so the page quality will only eliminate a % of potential buyers. A really lousy movie release that kills GL as a character might make this a long slog to unload. But long term? IMO a solid book to secure.

if Hugo continued to become a bigger and bigger? yeah because 36 is kinda one of the even # dogs of pre-robin Tecs compared to the 27, (28) 29, 31, 33 and 35. So a first appearance tag would propel it higher compared the its cooler big brothers. but Hugo might literally have to get a spinoff film to really catapult 36 higher someday.

given the grades, Id go with the Cap. He seems to have more immediate upside with the movie maybe raising his awareness level a bit, Plus, a 7.0 Batman isnt really an upper tier copy. Especially if, as debated in the other thread about comic populations out there, there are 1000 Superman 1s, there must be 2000 Batman 1s. Also I think while Timely collectors love for Marvel 1 might eventually cool off succumbing to hobby reality, they'll always love Cap 1. yes?

Bronze horror was just a victim of the circular hotness in comics. A previously dormant sector or genre suddenly catches fire, prices rise with new interest from collectors who go "wow" when they see the covers (usually here on the Boards) and the race is on. Only to cool off as they are no longer "cheap and cool" but have become "fairly expensive and cool, but not cool enough to go after them all at these prices!. Id say be happy that the wave happened at all, because these books deserved their year in the sun... and will rise again.

those are such cool amazing "artifacts". the cover images are just wacky and awesome. Such vivid imaginations sparked from contemporary scientific discoveries.... which from todays perspective are "out of this world!"

thats the piece that made comics "relevant" just by talking about them becoming relevant.

No, there's nothing wrong with buying 9.8s per se. What's dumb is overpaying for a 9.8, particularly a BA, CA or modern 9.8. that was clearly implied in my post. I dont like writing more than I feel is necessary, even tho it opens me up to misinterpretations like this. Because today buying 9.8s = overpaying. got it? I believe in collect what you like, so sure 9.8s are cool to collect.

I hope its getting cristal clear that buying ANY 9.8s is dumb.. if the reason is the desire for a scarce desirable collectible!

are these the top census copies... or YOUR copies? : ) The top census are the two 9.0's and my is probably the third. Probably not going to re-sub, because if it did get a 9.0 (long shot) it will always remain the 3rd best because of the cream/off-white pages. The other copies that is a 6.0 white is mine and the 7.5 off-white to white is Peewee2. I would love to see the 8.0 off-white someday. ok. Ive lost track. you have one of the 8.5s. here are three. how did they all grade notes wise? Yours is the 8.5/8.5/9.0 ? what did the third 8.5 grade out as?
