  1. by your list, it fair to say we are well down the road, as your points are often only a matter of degree away in many cases...
  2. is there really a movie in teh works? anyone have a spare 9.9 first appearance for sale?
  3. Id like to add a quick something to this discussion.... Basically: Time will tell. Both sides makes reasoned arguments for their opinions. But we shall see what we shall see as time and this great hobby of ours develops and mutates further. My prediction? More 9.9s will come along, and this purchase will not end well financially. Buyer will clearly enjoy the heck out it though. The only wild card I can imagine is if somehow, Deadpool becomes the next Spiderman/Wolverine worldwide franchise superhero. Can it happen? I dont think so, but it could allow this book to hold the value buyer and underbidder see in it.
  4. did you see that that Atom 9.6 #1 just sold on Pedigree? with a bunch of other nice SA DCs.
  5. Great Caesars Ghost that a sweet copy. couldnt resist.
  6. thats just not true for DC collectors. Compared to Marvel, they are not interested in flipping the HG keys they somehow latched onto because they are not replaceable like Marvels. The mantra has been for years "slab em when you sell em." And since these copies are not for sale, they sit in mylars. SO we wont know whats out there until everyone does a Full Keller. We may not like what we find, however if there are too many, thereby destroying the myth of scarcity. But IMO, since DC SA keys predate Marvels by 3-5 years, falling into that pre-collecting for resale era (late 50s), the final numbers shouldnt be too bad. Then again, who would have expected a census like Showcase 4s?? a 9.6?? The Truth is Out There. as for old CBGs, all the copies listed as NMs now range from VF- to 9.8, so theres not much we can infer from the ads. and as for Showcase 22 being hard to find for you, ill bet its been easier lately huh? Word is out, and so are plenty of copies. This 59K sale may flush out the 9.2 or 9.4. It certainly feels like a great time to be selling!
  7. I would have to say that odds are there IS a 9.2 out there. or on your list already (just being snarky, Im sure both 9.0s have been vetted already). As we have talked here for years, and see happening every now and then, HG DCs are scarce because their collectors are hoarders and not sellers. The books are out there. Not in Marvel numbers.... but they exists and we will see them only when they go on sale.
  8. ahhhh. now I get it. I mentioned blow a tread. god Im slow sometimes.
  9. haha. looked like a plant holder in a Hefty bag. what do I know!
  10. Since it had off-white pages it deserves a 10-25% premium. I may raise the valuations, since when will the next time you will see a 8.5 plus for sale. I feel like doing a re-subb. Where's aman619 ? He said no way a SC22 in 9.2 would fetch $100k...it just might now ! Yelp, It would be in the 100K club. Man...your 7.5 ow/w looks so sweet now. (thumbs u Any SC22 6 and above is a slam dunk!! That 6.5 oughta FLY out of ebay now ! Im here and Im surprised about the 59K sale. I was thinking earlier today that the current market fever is scary, That highs are too high and many sales seem out of whack. But, then I think Ive felt that way before... at price levels far below where we are now. I am leery of the sudden price acceleration we are witnessing with Sh22. Its all happening sp fast, and the movie hasn't even bombed yet! kidding, but thats a distinct possibility isnt it? SHowcase 22 has been the first appearance of GL for 40 years now, And in the past 6 months, prices have skyrocketed. WLL A 9.2 REACH 100K? The 50K sale makes it possible. anyway. dont label me a hater. my copy is on that llst and Im doing fine with it thank you very much. Ive thought 22 has been undervalued for a long time. But this ride its on is pretty wild. Hope it doesnt blow a tread!
  11. I was noticing the 59 in 9.6. I remember like 7 -8 years ago I was shocked when a 9.6 sold for $600. Then as years went by, shocking as it was to me, it looked cheap. Well, anyone care to explain why a copy sold for $580 tonight? We have a crazy market right now: soft in spots, and to the moon in others.
  12. wel, compared to 9.6s that sell for 30K-40K, a 9.8 might be worth 100K for an older more key SA early Spidey. especially since the 2 or 3 guys with 9.6+ runs both need it. but who knows.
  13. funny, I just saw that its up to 55K and ran over here to ask the same question. is it possible this will be a 100K Book? After some of the Bronze books prices we have seen, and some silver too, wouldnt this book be a candidate to reach the 100K level?
  14. Gary Keller has/had an awesome collection of books!
  15. yeah!!! a puppet throwing thunderbolts! that woulda been awesome!
  16. is Gil Kane amazing or what? that has to be a tough angle to raw given the perspective and just when in real life would you ever SEE a body from that angle?? ---- and it looks just right.
  17. wow, getting carried away a bit? IMO no way a 9.2 #22 sells for 80-100K. I dont even think a 9.4 would top 60K. Perhaps in the current hysteria it could..... but I dont think itd be a wise purchase. in my opinion anyway.
  18. love these books! I made a list of the names Stan and Jack came up with: Monstro! Zog! Orogo! Rro! Shagg! Bombu! Gomdulla! Hulk! Goliath! Rorgg! Brute! Gruto! Spragg! Korilla! Sandman! Roc! Glob! Spider! Lo-Karr! Mordoo!
  19. thats an odd mix of awesome to absurd! Why bother listing all that 90s stuff in the same posts as the Silver Age books? knowatteye mean?
  20. o man o man mick. youre killin us!
