  1. theyre gone cause I bought them all!! .....
  2. and Im sure you made their day pointing that out!
  3. lotsa strange numbers lately, huh? Wish there was an internet Wiki/Google we could get the answers from as to what's REALLY behind each eye-catching sale. Frankly, these Boards are the closest thing to that - - and we are mostly pulling our own puds here. As to these JLAs, it might be as simple as the buyer just hasnt been studying JLA sales as closely as you guys, and just thought that was a great book to get and placed a high enough bid to win it at way more than you guys know its worth. I have seen that happen where for whatever reason, a guy out there pulls the trigger at too high a price for no apparent reason other than he felt okay with it at the time. Or its a press candidate. Or these sales arent real. Or its that new whale come to town. but which is it?
  4. Very nice run (greedy !) (thumbs u well. shucks you shamed me into digging a few out. very low res camera photo. Theyre all nice enough, but close inspection reveals stuff this pic doesnt show. Enjoy.
  5. I know, and sorry for getting all TB on ya, just thought you felt I was a killjoy, and not just a skeptical pessimist : ) Ive made a few shrewd purchases... and also outsmarted myself out of a lot of great ones too by being too cautious. cest la vie
  6. I have two very nice copies plus a midgrade reader, thank you! So Im not speaking out of jealousy or envy, just my usual pessimism compared to many other collectors here! I referred to the "Krazy" talk along the lines of "buy it now you cant go wrong!" which is/was the stock in trade of an original art boardie named Krazy Kat who you may not have encountered here yet.
  7. I posted this a month ago when I found it on Metropolis for $170. I guess rusty staples might go for more on Ebay? Hmm..looks like this pic was taken just as the book was being projected into the Phantom Zone. Blizzard variant. I just love this copy! Is that paint all over it? There are patterns, especially in the lower right corner.... it looks like wear and tear, except what made the patterns?
  8. and the #1 went for 72K. Decent price as it will be 100K at some point. Plenty of upside left.
  9. Show off. Books above five figures are out of most collector's range. With prices of quality vintage comics climbing steady off the past years, five figure prices will be in the past. I predict if a Showcase #22 CGC 9.2 ever surface, it will be in the 100000 the club. no way jose.
  10. the logic is there.... Both books have equal amounts of longterm inertial colon clogging negativeness around them, that has only recently been jettisoned in their new guise at Super Hot books! theres often nothing more desireable than a book nobody really wants, that suddenly heats up, and now EVERYBODY wants one at any price! Look at Showcase 22. These are the 2009 poster children for the Every Dog Has His Day award!
  11. but, simply put, you agree on a value for the 9.4s and go higher until its ridiculous, or just "significantly" more than "better or tougher books" like AF15 and FF1 and Hulk 1 and JIM 83.
  12. always just a guess, since these books (9.6s of mega Marvel SA keys) just dont change hands anymore.....
  13. I believe that this will sell for close to 100K, or just over.. Shockingly, it is as rare as AF15 in 9.4 and 9.6 combined. Total 7 copies for each (it has 2 9.6s to AF15s one copy. And 5 9.4s to AF15s 6 copies) And sine NONE of the three 9.6s are going anywhere, there are LESS 9.4 Avengers 1s around. I think this is the first copy to sell publicly in 6 or 7 years? There have GOT to be 2 or 3 big money guys who have been waiting for a shot at a copy!. IMO, for a late Marvel key, I admit to thinking it was a lot more common that it appears to be. One caveat to the census is that in both 9.2 and 9.0 Avengers has TWICE as many copies so far. And we know 9.0s and 9.2s sometimes cook in their slabs and end up with higher numbers on new slabs at some point... so the Avengers census has potential to grow more than AF15 does. Im also ginning the price up due to movie hype. This could get a Perfect Storm level of bidding!
  14. I know, but its like. "who knows" which book will get hot next? and more importantly, when?
  15. thats almost like saying today "better lock in a HG Showcase 20 or 27, or even 6 or 15 or 17!" Even though GL is a far bigger character, they've all been pretty dead for a long time! How about 37? Another tough first appearance, and roundly unappreciated..
