  1. Very cool books. I bought many Winnipeg's from Doug recently myself. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO POST THE?. Just kidding, we'll let your books get some attention. Love the Avengers Giant Size as I can remember buying that one as a kid.
  2. I actually wouldn't have minded a CGC 9.4 (yours or one on ComicLink) if I could have got it for around $1,600.00. Regarding getting Doug down on the price, basically I paid a very high price for the first run of TTA's I bought from him, so it's kind of evening out (I had purchase another group from him about a month ago at fairly reasonable prices). I think he has the Pacific Coast copies of these books, so they are duplicates and probably doesn't want money tied up in them. Also, it's not like I got them for a song and a dance (well actually I did play him a few songs I wrote, so maybe he made the deal so I would stop). All that said, it does help that I can actually see the books in person and negotiate over dinner (much easier then bidding, getting a counter bid, bidding again, etc.)
  3. Too many. Actually, I'm over 75% complete with only 4 books being less then 9.4 (many 9.6's and many pedigrees). Toughest one to get will be a #27 in at least CGC 8.0. The rest are just a matter of time (and money of course), but unfortunately, I have exhausted Doug's personal books. I'm actually hoping that Harry (Burntboy) can help me out on one or two when it comes time to sell, as I would love to have a Burntboy book in my collection.
  4. It's no longer Doug's it's mine, and I was only kidding about it being a 9.2. Nor am I kidding about this one.
  5. Nice White Mountain copy. Now how many Pre-Hero Marvel books do you have in unrestored high grade (VF or better)?
  6. Wow......Never seen those, pretty boring Just kidding!!!!! Those are CLASSIC. Now I know where all the best books are hiding. Is the Thrilling Mystery the Spokane copy? Please show more.
  7. Very cool books that I was looking at myself.
  8. Super nice. And from the PC X-Men books I have seen, the colors and gloss just jump of the covers.
  9. Didn't buy anything from any dealer. If Motor City Comics had a book I wanted, I would have bought from them. Every uncertified book, had a label on it (yes, it was on the mylar, not the book), noting their grade and restoration if any (and they had a lot of restored books) and price. Unfortunately, the best they had was one F+ book (and their grade seem right). That to me says they took the time to actually look at the book.
  10. The same L.B.Cole cover books have been on Metro's site for an extremely long time. That says something about the price. And I probably would buy the non- certified ones from them, for the prices they wanted, if they were CGC'd. But I'm not going to pay above guide prices for VF / VF+ ungraded books, putting all the risk on me. I went te MegaCon and there was not one LB.Cole Star book in VF or better, graded or not. I talked to Motor City Comics, Graham Cracker Collectibles,Bedrock Comics, and many others. Na zilch. Actually Mike Goldman say they are in a down cycle as he gets less and less request. I said that's probably because they aren't available. And I have pretty much post the ones that I have on the thread or another thread. I did submit a nice book yesterday and should have it back in a week or two. It's not mine yet (it's a long time friends), as we couldn't exactly agree on the grade, and therefore the price. So I told the seller, lets just submit and find out (which he agreed).
  11. Do you have anymore HG L.B. Cole Star Publishing books? These are impossible to find in HG (I have about 8 and would have 50 if they were available).
  12. Thank you. Hopefully, I can do this again some time soon!!!
  13. Very cool book. Nothing wrong with a FN/VF 7.0 PreHero Marvel book as they are tough to get in any grade above Fine.
  14. Looks nice from the scan. What's your guess?
  15. Yeah Harry, those are some ten cents that actually have some DEPTH to them.
  16. This guy doesn't seem to be tentacly challenges.
  17. I wouldn't worry about that since that was determined over ten years ago. Plus, the way they were ranked would not necessarily be the way CGC ranked them. Think of it this way. Even the 1/12 could have some very minor damage done to it over the past decaded and easily keep it out of the 9.8-10.0 range. That said, remember that that CGC does it's best to grade a book, but it's not a scientific truth that a 9.8 is better than a 9.6.
  18. My newest pedigree, care of Heritage (I was the only one to pay the reserve price). 1) I think it is a really cool cover (L.B. Cole like, but not). 2) Highest Graded Copy 3) It's from the Crowley Pedigree which up until now, was not represented in my collection.
