  1. Please note that the Virtual Comic Con (Version XXII) is this weekend. Afterwards, I'm sure there will be a plethora of additional selling threads in this section. (thumbs u http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=69

  6. It's not just the Infinity Gauntlet TPB... Anything Thanos is showing a major uptick recently. Quasi-Recent appearances Silver Surfer v3 34-50 (#34 trending up) Thanos Quest 1-2 (Hot) Infinity Gauntlet 1-6 (Hot) Warlock and the Infinity Watch 1-42 Infinity War 1-6 Infinity Crusade 1-6 etc.
  7. I still have dozens of #361, about 100+ #362, and over 300 #363's... (Plus the silver second editions)
  8. ASM #361 (First Carnage) seems to be fluctuating wildly in price...
  9. He's saying it may be a Photocopy of a 1st print. Need more details. The different texture paper is interesting.
  10. normally i can tell the 1st prints from the 2nd based off the bottom left corner of the cover. It seems 1st prints have a fairly tiny corner of white which the 2nd prints do not (Black corner). also i have found the 2nd prints are a couple centimeters shorter than the 1st. Can anyone else chime in and see if this is accurate? Good observation! (thumbs u
  11. They could buy a copy from any number of sources really. I'm glad the 23k buyer was made whole. Still not clear if it was a misidentified third printing (graders at fault) or a mislabeled third printing (production process error)... We may never know.
  12. I do know him and helped him with his first booth setup actually when he was just starting to show at conventions. (thumbs u
  13. #1 is the most damaging to CGC as that would indicate they missed many clear signs of a third printing. I personally hope that's not the case...
  14. Let's look at the history. Eastman receives $500 from a tax refund I think and they borrow $700 from an Uncle to do the first printing of 3000. They only had enough money for TWO colors... so they went with Black and red. The second printing is based on the first although it is denoted with the term Second Printing inside. (And the ads are different.) The third printing has some cover artwork changes... notably the red addition to the Titling. This artwork change happens at least a year later? SO what are the chances that they paid for TWO cover versions when they did an initial press run of 3000? Especially since the initial press run was sized incorrectly? We need to just contact Eastman and Laird and ask who retouched the 3rd printing cover and when they did it.
  15. Good observations. I'd be inclined to think there was only one printing of 3000... so it's possible counterfeiting happened with the removal of the third printing notice.
  16. Can't see what it went for... but if he was up for the Kitty Pryde and Wolverine Mini-series, how raw could he have been since they ended up going with Al Milgrom? (Kitty Pryde and Wolverine was so awful I've blanked it out of my memory except for the horrid covers.) http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/rare-1984-todd-mcfarlane-x-men-port-wolverine Offered is a RARE 1984 X-Men Portfolio by Todd McFarlane titled the Perils Of Pryde! 17. Considering that his first Marvel work was done in 1983 but didn't actually get published until 1985 (Coyote)... This 1984 edition took some guts to publish. And look where he is now... Calling his own shots and running his own company. (thumbs u
  18. What's also weird is that John Romita apparently has at least three ways to sign his name to his work... Note that he seems to sign them a little more after being promoted to Art Director at Marvel... but then lapses back into not signing them at all for a while.
  19. We need mschmidt to do a Visual Guide for Legal Size Scanners thread.
  20. Actually, my post was the only relevant one.... it explains why the HP 8500 sucks (for scans).

  22. Welcome (back) to the boards. (thumbs u I wonder if all these figures are printed somewhere... Maybe in Wizard or Retailer or any of the other comic related magazines...
  23. This is interesting. I think that it was established (on the ValiantFans board) that Deathmate Golds were 2 per 100 copies. The Standard Guide lists the Darker Image #1 Black and White variant as 1/LE (Limited Edition) which would seem to indicate that it is rarer than the Gold. So if we take the lower number of 1,000,000 and use the same ratio as the Deathmate book (Valiant and Image colluding)... That could mean there are at least 20,000 Darker Image Golds out there. If the LE was more limited (like say 1 out of 100), there could be at least 10,000 copies out there.
